What went wrong?

what went wrong?

this album is a masterpiece of boredom

Writer's block + clinical depression + drug addiction + cringey as fuck lyrics + rehashing past sounds and themes to the point of self parody = The Fragile
With that said however, there are good moments on here.

There is no other album containing the word 'decay' more times than the Fragile

right*

The opening and last three tracks of right make up for it.

Reznor retreated towards a simpler format, albeit using the same tools (psychotic screaming, killer synths, metallic percussions, brutal distortions), on the double album Fragile (1999). Reznor showed that he was not interested in angst for the sake of angst, and cared more for meditation on his own angst; that he was not indulging in insanity but merely puzzled by it.

Nothing.

This and With_Teeth are his most honest records.

What track list would you propse to improve the album? Let's say single LP or EP long thing.

pierre get the fuck out

>Somewhat Damaged
>The Wretched
>The Fragile
>We're In This Together
>Just Like You Imagined
>Even Deeper
>La Mer
>The Great Below
>The Way Out Is Through
>Into The Void
>The Big Come Down
>Underneath It All
>Ripe (With Decay)
>And All That Could Have Been

RIP DYEL Trent

the Fragile (58 min total)

1. Pilgrimage
2. Somewhat damaged
3. Starfuckers inc.
4. Just like you imagined
5. the Wretched
6. Even deeper
7. The way out is through
8. the Big Come Down
9. la mer
10. the Great Below
11. ripe

PS i feel the original fragile has not enough hard hitting and memorable tracks like the first half of TDS, so i put 'even deeper' there, altough it reeks of With Teeth - we're in this together is kinda too long and boring and sounds too much like track 2 and 5

1. "Somewhat Damaged" 4:31
2. "The Day the World Went Away" 4:33
3. "The Frail" 1:54
4. "The Wretched" 5:25
5. "We're in This Together" 7:16
6. "Even Deeper" 5:48
7. "No, You Don't" 3:35
8. "Into the Void" 4:49
9. "Where Is Everybody?" 5:40
10. "The Mark Has Been Made" 5:15
11. "Starfuckers, Inc." 5:00
12. "I'm Looking Forward to Joining You, Finally" 4:13
13. "The Big Come Down" 4:12
14. "Underneath It All" 2:46

>1. Pilgrimage

how about no.

how about it's a nice intro in vein of Broken that sets a nice atmosphere of surprise

Why did you keep Starfuckers there, it's the worst track.

tfw even 'updated' by anons fragile is shit
you just cannot create a good album out of those tracks
you could make an alright album if you mixed tracks from this and With Teeth

Do you guys really like Starfuckers? It's one of my least favorite NIN songs

No, we don't.

Well when you've made a career ripping off acts like Skinny Puppy & Frontline Assembly, twisting and warping it to appeal to the plebeian masses, then to top it off stealing Rozz William's schtick, when the wheels fall off they fall off pretty fucking hard, revealing the gaping lack of talent that was there all along.

Nah, that would be the title track.

it's way better than most of the instrumentals on Right

1. Somewhat Damaged
2. The Day The World Went Away
3. The Great Collapse
4. We're In This Together
5. Just Like You Imagined
6. Even Deeper
7. Into The Void
8. Complication
9. No, You Don't
10. Gone, Still
11. And All That Could Have Been
12. La Mer
13. The Big Come Down
14. Leaving Hope

What the fuck.
What.

go to sleep, Brian

I'm saying that Starfuckers is better than all the instrumentals on the Right CD except the first and last ones
"Complication" for example is just ridiculously bad

By far!

...

You forgot "I'm Looking Forward To Joining You, Finally."

- Written about about his then recently deceased Grandmother, who ha raised him after his parents divorced and couldn't afford to raise both him and his sister. Got him interested in playing piano as well.

>Not having the Frail when you have the wretched listed
>Even Deeper

Also

>Starfucker

that would make too many instrumentals
also there are no good songs on the LP so i had to pick something

Replace Starfucker with Please and it would be perfect.

Combine The Frail and the Wretched together on one track

TDS > PHM > BROKEN > With_Teeth > the Fragile

TDS > The Fragile > Broken >With Teeth > PHM

kys

better

fragile is shit borefest, just because it's 2 cd makes it even more pathetic
ALSO
>broken better than PHM
lol, i bet you think Linkin Park is better than the Rolling Stones too

Pretty Hate Machine is literally about Trent crying that his girlfriend ran away from him with some generic instrumentals throughout creating a forgettable experience.

the tunes are memorable, you can sing that shit and dance to it and it has nice atmosphere that you get in his darker material
i take lyrics with a big dose of distance because i'm not retarded enough to get some life lessons from music, i'm kinda like scaruffi in that regard - want good lyrics, go read a book

Pretty Hate Machine is Trent trying to make a Depeche Mode album and succeeding.

>people hate The Fragile and think it's boring
The only tracks I don't really like are No, You Don't, Where Is Everybody and Starfuckers Inc, but I at least enjoy them musically. Thank god for the instrumental versions.

I always saw the Fragile as a very cinematic experience that, I have to admit that, drags a little towards the end.

But what some consider boring is what I love about this album. The mix of catchy tunes, and athomespheric instrumentals. It's not fast paced, but for me it often succeeds to get me in the right mood to really enjoy the album.

And isn't that in the end the most important thing? That one is able to enjoy it for what it is?

first week on moo?

Actually I'm here for like a year, but right now just a little angry about the big dick measuring contest Sup Forums threads sometimes are.

>voices opinion about music on the music board
>haha firsht week on moo hur hurr :^)

>looping distorted Rave-O-Lution drum pattern is better than all the instrumentals on the Right CD

what the actual fuck are you talking about
