Pretty good. My love of punk and jazz have been at war lately for my attention.
recs:
Meat Puppets - II
Little Kid - Logic Songs
Pete La Roca - Basra

I found this Dec 31 for 50 cents.... According to the Matrix its the original UK pressing, which sells for a minimum of $44 on Discogs... so pretty good.

gr8 taste desu

Pretty good, I think.

>Thugger
Real neighbor right here

Like a bloody champ. How did you manage to get a jazz record so high?

You just compiled a chart, you didn't even generate one.
Have you heard 5 Men Singing yet?

Do W.A.S.P. even hold a snipped off wick of a candle to the Crue?

>Do W.A.S.P. even hold a snipped off wick of a candle to the Crue?

Yeah.

...

>You just compiled a chart, you didn't even generate one.
I should start adding a disclaimer on my charts.
It's the last 25 albums I've listened to in order, in this case the most recent is Pointed Sticks.
I manually make them because I listen to records and CD's, and I don't like things tracking me.
The end result is essentially the same though, neglecting listen time, which means nothing anyway since I listen to albums once through and move on 99% of the time.

I'll check out these recs.

ah! What's your last.fm user, definitely would love to suss more of your plays.

I listen to coltrane when I drive to work and when I'm at work.

Here's to a 2017 that's a lot less pleb than 2016

lil boat

>5 Men Singing

does anyone else think the 808s cover looks like someone spreading their ass?
you probably have stellar cheeks, or at least i'd like to think you would

i made a 3x3 instead of a 5x5 because i'm a fool

Minutemen - Double Nickels on the DIme
Arthur Doyle Plus 4 - Alabama Feeling
Various Artists - Vancouver Complication
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Let Love In

hello, I am here to improve upon this thread
here is my 5x5
I only really like big black and drive like jehu of all of these, perhaps you should delve further into noise rock?
try melt banana
you posted in another thread, I really don't know if this is bait or not but it is very bad.
if this is representative of your musical taste, I feel pity towards you
some of these are okay
those being Boards of Canada and perhaps Fishmans
I would recommend branching out a bit further, try genres you may not have liked previously
well....you haven't started out on the right foot necessarily if thats what you are going for
have you heard the new Eno?
very good stuff
try Grausamkeit and Tyrannic if you haven't heard those two
I can't comment on these
either I am not familiar with the albums or simply dislike them
I would have included this with the three above but I do like DNA
you should try out some free improvisational jazz, it seems like it'd be up your alley

gimme reccs pls

i have shit taste rec me more
we would get along user really good stuff here
is young thug actually good. that lil yachty grew on me. also prince daddy is good and the new crying is great
++joanna newsom,
wasnt the biggest fan of rtj3
+rosenstock, injury reserve, charlie brown
-carly rae
check out bomb the music industry if u havent its more jeff
if u like failure check out superheaven

young thug is v good. Listen to Jeffery, one of his best albums he's ever made. Then go and listen Slime Season 3, then Barter 6. One of my favorite artists desu

sadcore
recs appreciated basically all I've listened to for two weeks is Autechre/Neon Golden/In Rainbows

Try Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Or In A Silent Way if you haven't already heard it

LRD and Manuel Gottsching are great choices
Maybe Acid Mothers Temple?

Bowery Electric - Beat
Atoms For Peace - Amok

I keep going through periods where I listen to Flood like crazy for like a week and then don't touch it for months
Maybe Autolux - Future Perfect

I've heard both that davis and mingus record. Good shit

>you should try out some free improvisational jazz, it seems like it'd be up your alley
I listen to it frequently, thanks.
check out:
Dicks - Kill from the Heart
Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts
Ry Cooder & V.M. Bhatt - A Meeting by the River
Crass - Penis Envy

Sun Ra - God Is More Than Love Can Ever Be
Charles Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music
Andrew Hill - Black Fire
Sonny Criss - Sonny's Dream

Truth
That's unfortunately about all the jazz I know, maybe try Nickelus F and Shawn Kemp - Trick Dice if you liked the production on Mista Thug Isolation

>Shawn Kemp - Trick Dice
no worries man, I haven't heard that Shawn Kemp record so i'll peep

lmao don't rec jazz if you've only heard 2 albums

He had Moondog on his chart so I thought Black Saint was a reasonable rec
Do you disagree?

god shut up

Nah but it's almost a redundant rec alongside Kind of Blue. I think it was the second jazz album I ever heard.
You should check out the rest of his discog.

>does anyone else think the 808s cover looks like someone spreading their ass?
no, wtf

>I would recommend branching out a bit further, try genres you may not have liked previously
I've heard most BOC. Heard two Fishmans projects and I'm still bumping the 1999 album desu. No reccs here but thanks anyways

>check out bomb the music industry
I will! How angsty is it though?

Fair enough. I listened to Moondog before I really got into any jazz albums so I figured it was the best rec I could give.

I've been meaning to listen to Mingus Ah Um and a lot more jazz in general but I have a hard time with a lot of albums. Monk's Music didn't leave much of an impression the first time I heard it and the ones that I have liked I haven't been able to come back to a lot. I'll definitely listen to his other stuff next though.

I was really drunk with my girlfriend listening to this album

>monthly 5x5 thread
>posts 4x3 7 day chart
>tells me to shut up

>How angsty is it though?
Vacation isn't that angsty at all imo

np, I'm mostly joking around. I made this chart a while ago if it helps you.

Melt Banana came to my city but I had to work that night :(
anyways you should peep The Cabs- First Incident
and Giraffes? Giraffes!- More Skin With Milk Mouth

No worries, you weren't wrong lmao. I've listened to a few more than just those two (Headhunters, Light As A Feather, Shape of Jazz to Come) but I still don't feel like I have a very good grasp on the genre or any of the subcategories.

I seriously dig this chart though, I have Lanquidity and Out to Lunch downloaded so I'll probably go to those next. Thanks a ton

this is a good chart but i'm always annoyed when ppl sleep on archie shepp. one of my favorite free jazz artists and essential imo

whats up with all these black covers

+pre 2000s black eyed peas dude, fuck fergie

Maybe try some Brockhampton, Sparta and Nai Harvest

If you like Fredo then try some Rondo or L'A Capone, for the metal I'd recc some Speedwolf, Pentagram (chilean band) and Exumer

Try listening to Japanese Breakfast

How about some Maria Minerva or The Nocturnes, also try airospace or No Bird Sing

aye, you might like madeinTYO, some of the latest Ro Ransom singles, ANOHNI and maybe Darrein Safron

idk man go listen some Iggy Pop

This is pretty teenager-core, but try Two Knights, Field Mouse, football, etc., Have Mercy and The Hotelier.
Also, this is mine.

inb4 Oshin is better than Is There Is Are

>AnCo
>Coil
>BoC
Are you me
Listen to Musick To Play In The Dark 2 and Moon's Milk In Four Phases until you realize they're the best Coil albums

go home no one wants you here only cool kids are allowed

they'll be back especially if you're we st coast usa
definitely catch them even their off nights are a blast

im not really huge on giraffes giraffes but the cabs are real nice
you might like harriet the spy they're fun noisy emoy just all around a good time

usually it's fucked up tags or there's no art uploaded yo last.fm
I like that BEP album but I think will.I.am is probably moreresponsible for whatever happened there than fergie desu

I live on the east coast :(

i've probably listened to those two more than 1000 times each, coil are my favorite souls in this universe
listened to anco bcos i saw them live and i enjoyed their show too much, never really had paid the attention they deserve (not even when everyone shat their pants with mpp) but yes, they are indeed a fun listen, glad i got to discover their sound live

Cool! Out To Lunch is one of my 10's so I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks. Thinking of updating it soon and making a hip-hop section more focused on fusion.
Might toss in a Shepp if I expand or add categories, but I'm not sure he'd fit in as a 'step 1'.

oh also my favorite albums are love's secret domain and astral disaster

i don't count moon's milk bcos its more like a compilation but every single seasonal ep is perfect

they'll be back there too don't worry
they just really love the west coast

I think they were in europe or maaybe still are atm

Thanks for the recs, friend.

youtube.com/watch?v=C4cHyysL5dE
