It's over-choreographed ridiculousness

>It's over-choreographed ridiculousness

A horseshit argument if you ask me. As far as I'm concerned this is as simple as not liking horror movies or not liking a particular actor. There's nothing wrong with elaborately flashy and dance-like sword fights. You not liking it doesn't make it shit. There are plenty of good excuses to trash the star wars prequels. Pic related is the only part where the argument stands up.

back to degenerate

The prequels are shit because through Lucas' autism, Jedis basically became superheroes in almost every sense.
Everything they do is so effortless and they're all suddenly gymnasts.
Jedi powers in the OT are scaled back and Luke, Obi Wan and Darth Vader, while Luke being an apprentice and the other two old, don't even seem half as powerful as their OT counterparts.

*PT counterparts
And also, yes there is absolutely nothing wrong with flashy and over the top action and fight choreography but it has to make sense within the reality that the film attempts to establish.

bad bait

Another shit ass argument, or possible bait.

GUIDE TO STAR WARS CANON

CANON
>Star Wars
>Empire Strikes Back
>Return of the Jedi

NON-CANON
>Literally everything else including movies,videogames,novels,animated series,comic books,toys,coloring books...etc

now go back to:

bad bait.

>RotJ
>canon

Pick one and only one.

Come back with better bait.

The fights don't feel real.
There's no weight or anticipation to any of it.
They also all end horribly, with one combatant inexplicably stopping what their doing to allow the other to cut off one or more of their limbs.

Worse bait. At least try to make me mad bro. Making me roll my eyes isn't as satisfying.

>being this cucked by Lucas

see

Come back with a better argument, you toddler.
You started a thread calling out this shit and haven't got a single retort to good, actual genuine criticisms.

>le ebin everything I don't like is bait argument

How old are you?

>Doesn't feel real
>In a sci-fi fantasy movie with mystical forces, laser guns, and faster than light travel technology.

The fantasy of it all is what makes Star Wars appealing.

Weight or anticipation? I still feel tense watching Qui-Gon's final moments in his fight with Maul, the short Obi vs. Dooku duel, among others, but not all of them, so I'll give you that.

Bad bait.

just delete the whole thread you fucking micromanaging faggot reddit mod

A sword fight is still a sword fight, even in a fantasy movie.

None of the strikes matter until the end of the fight where the loser just gives up.

It's more like a dance than a fight. There is value in that, but it's misused in these movies.

Still haven't answered any points or my question. Nice b8 trhead tho Sup Forumsmbler

I don't have to answer in earnest to bait

Every strike is an opportunity for one of them to end the fight. With lightsabers as powerful as they are most of the fights have to hold off on any kind of body blow unless the duel has come to it's end. The duels are tedious engagements where one slip up pretty much spells a complete loss or death, except for the part in Empire where Luke grazes Vader in the arm.

Are you butthurt because the mods deleted your bait? lol

>I don't have to answer because I don;t want to

You last bump faggot

I havent posted a thread here in years you nigger.

I dont like faggot janitors that leave blatant off topic threads up while deleting on topic ones. Just caving in to whatever is reported. Suck my dick.

All I want is grazes, punches and kicks, pauses in the fighting to build anticipation in inject dialogue and to let the scene breathe.

Make it look desperate, like real fights are, rather than calculated.

bad bait.

shitpost

your autism is showing

I understand the need for gradual injury and fatigue in most movie fights but you can't really get hit anywhere with a lightsaber and not be at least defeated afterward. I feel like the only reason they had Vader get hit and not be finished was because they hadn't yet decided they capabilities of the weapon yet.

Can you post better bait? How about an actual response to my post?

Wrong. So very, very wrong.

In the original films, the lightsaber duels weren't just "duels" but vehicles for dialogue, emotion and character development. Even the shitty one in ANH carried more weight than anything from the prequels because of what they were saying and doing during the spar. All of the OT duels were like this, versus the prequels where the already thing plot would come to a grinding halt so we can watch some cartoons dance for several minutes. They're empty, over-choreographed, and utterly devoid of emotion.

post better bait

>Jedis basically became superheroes in almost every sense
What is wrong with that? They were in their prime, OT is all about legends of them and how they were so cool

Fucking autist

Stop baiting

Aint even bait. Take a film class or something.

>I don't understand PT and OT and how they reflect each other
"Baiting", calm your autist

My post wasn't about every aspect of these duels, retard. It was only about the way in which they were conducted. Actually read the fucking post and then give your response. Also if you don't think the final duel in ROTS had emotional and character related history behind it you're either nostalgic for the OT and refuse to accept anything else or you're baiting, and since this is Sup Forums the latter wouldn't surprise me.

>they're all suddenly gymnasts.
Did you miss the part in ESB where Luke does somersaults effortlessly and balances on 1 hand while lifting stones with the Force? Did you miss the part where he jumps several up in the air meters while fighting Vader? Or are you just purposely ignoring it to fit your argument?

I was never in a conversation with you, dumb faggot. My first post in this thread was complaining about the reddit style post prunings.

Bad bait. Also bad attempt to impersonate me.

You sound upset.

I am not impersonating you, you're trying to impersonate me baiter

Bad bait.

Do you wanna have sex with me?

Sure. How does tomorrow sound?

Bretty gud. Gimme your phone number, facebook, steam, RIOT account, whatever

>m-muh too much choreography

This scene was meant to show their bond you fucking apes. Obi-Wan raised and trained him, and as he said was like a brother. Their fighting styles are the same, their blades are the same color.

This scene is a momentary "stalemate" due to this, hence them copying each other from the defensive blade spins to the force push.

garbage

I didn't say it was good you fucking troglodyte, I said it wasn't over-choreographed.

Bad bait.

No man. This moment is just plain silly. Their blades don't even make contact.

>dey dont even make contact duhhhhhhh

No shit. Unless you weren't aware, 95% of the time they're using they're lightsabers, it isn't against someone else with a lightsaber.

Defensive swings that could normally be for reflecting laser blasts can also be applied here to keep a fucking laser sword from cutting you up, as well as making your opponent concentrate more on using the force to see your future moves, taking them out of the present and providing a weakness.

You're not going to win this argument, Plinkettfag.

I don't think you understood what I said.

youtube.com/watch?v=b1zMudXdMkw

this is hands down the worst duel in cinematic history

the only decent PT duel is Obi-Wan/Qui-gon vs Maul

The rest is video game trash

Bad bait. Really bad.

it's the sad truth m9

No, it was just really bad bait.

terrible bait

You can't impersonate me.

2/10 Bait

Try harder

Worse bait.

Even worse bait

So what's your angle here?

Ending your bait spree

Bait spree? What is that?

Stop baiting please

I don't understand.

1/10 bait

Is it?

0/10

rock bottom

Oh no. It can get worse. I've seen worse on this exact thread.

...

>You not liking it doesn't make it shit.
While there is truth to this, it's also true that mere embellishment doesn't make something good. I didn't mind the lightsaber battles in the prequels, but it was a bit heavy handed, and for the primary purpose of showing off tech.

>it's a "my best friend has betrayed me and murdered hundreds of people so now we will dance fight each other episode"

Lucas is a fucking hack.
