Who's the George Lucas of music?

Who's the George Lucas of music?

Vinyl Williams

the beatles

Metallica

Led Zeppelin

okay, let's examine the comparisons

started off with an original vision
got fat off his success
keeps coming back to mess with old shit instead of leaving it alone

This, if we're thinking in terms of career arc.

I had worked out one time who the Lucas and Spielberg were of music, I think on Sup Forums. I determined for some reason that Spielberg is Michael Jackson, although I'm not sure then who would be the Lucas to Jackson's Spielberg.

Perhaps Lucas is The Beatles, if we aren't comparing genius as much as cultural impact. Spielberg then might be the Beach Boys... you could compare the relationship of the Beatles and Beach Boys to Lucas and Spielberg somewhat. I might switch them and say Lucas is the Beach Boys and Spielberg is The Beatles, because of Lucas' "aw shucks" wholesome all American side, but Spielberg has that too. Also, Spielberg is more about boyish wonder (like the Beach Boys), whereas Lucas has that universal monomythical almost quasi religious thing that The Beatles kind of achieve in their role as pop cultural end-all.

Metallica.

Kanye with the special editions of Life Of Memeblo

Roger Waters
with others he can make good shit but once he starts getting too much creative control it quickly goes to shit

john williams

Bump

Bono

>once he starts getting too much creative control it quickly goes to shit

Their 4 best most legendary albums were literally all after he started taking control over the band. Pink floyd would be just another shitty indy band without him. He's the opposite of george lucas

beyonce?

Roger Waters was always the primary songwriter for the band, Gilmour was always secondary. But once he took totally over (The Wall, Final Cut) things went to shit.

the wall is good. You must be trolling.

also way to ignore dark side of the moon and animals, those were both his ideas and his vision.

>The Wall
>good

"Crawling in my Skin: 1979 Edition: DAE hate le system and le Thatcher woe is me :("

Dark Side has far too much filler, WYWH is admittedly consistently great, Animals has good music but the lyrics that Waters changed at the last minute to fit his "concept" just ruin it, as he edgily misunderstands Orwell at every turn. The Psalm 23 part of Sheep may be one of the of the edgiest things in popular music. Then of course we have The Wall / The Final Cut, six sides of constant whining.

Iron butterfly are the george lucas of music.....3 fucking great albums in the 60's and a whole bunch of whatever albums in the 70's -

Meddle.

after barrett fucked off they were just another generic dime a dozen prog band

i started to learn to play guitar coz of Barrett

Into the gulag you go

>defending thatcher
t. pizzaface young conservative club goer

>1991+26
>Being a socialist

How has nobody said Brian Wilson?

Because

>started off with an original vision

Brian is literally only famous for copying Phil Spector. Also there are 2 good Star Wars films and no good Beach Boys albums, the comparison doesn't work aside from the meddling bit.

they were nothing like any prog bands, or any other bands, you fucking retard

stop being a cliche. I bet your favorite Beatles album is Revolver, too.

>muh mainstream band is so unique and innovative
i bet you think Tool is so much different from other prog metal too
By the way, the best Beatles album is Sgt Pepper

Kanye

Greg Lake.
>be part of King Crimson's seminal first album
>leave it for ELP
>make technically impressive but fucking garbage music with it

Yes, yes.

now we just need to go back in time 3 years and kill Lucas to cement the connection

Ride, the remaster of Vapour Trail is disgusting

LET'S FIND OUT

Elvis Presley

>liking pinochet
arguably more embarrassing than being communist really

>i bet you think Tool is so much different from other prog metal too
They are
Most prog is widdly widdly ala Dream Theater and Tool sound absolutely nothing like that

Elvis didn't have an original vision, he pretty much did what all his (mostly black) idols did but with a somewhat more family-friendly (for the time) style.

He didn't really have that much of an original vision, more of compiled one of good things from other sources, and a lot of Star Wars' appeal and originality is in the visual and sound design. So he should be someone who has a band or team around him, like a curator. Maybe Dr Dre or Kanye West, but both of them made a lot by themselves at the beginning, so not really that good, fits better for later era of their music.

>did but with a somewhat more family-friendly (for the time) style.
So he had an original vision

>He didn't really have that much of an original vision
Neither did George Lucas

>Can't even escape Star Wars on Sup Forums
Time to go
