Why was this comeback album forgotten? It was pretty good
I want to listen to some deathspell omega, never listened to them before
What's album should I start with?
...
start at this and move chronologically if you want dissonant black metal
Start before that album if you want just regular black metal.
Si monumentum requires, circumspice

>gothenburg metal
>anything other than ATG debut
>you will never be a living meme

Overrated meme album
Can't believe ANUS actually compared it to classical music lmao
Are you cozy? Whatever. Come on.
At The Gates 1992-1995 is actually great
Dark Tranquility 1993-1997 is actually great
In Flames 1994-1997 is actually great
Ceremonial Oath 1993-1995 is actually great
Gates Of Ishtar 1996-1997 is actually great
Sacrilege 1996-1997 is actually great
Heartwork is actually great
None of you can prove me wrong.
ATG debut is overrated garbage
is there metal that sounds like the blade runner ost
>not liking at least 90s Dark Tranquillity and Jester Race
It has nothing to do with dmu or whatever they're sperging about this time
But come on now it's their best album, and the only good thing that ever came out of that particular scene
I listened to it again today, it definitely earned my AOTY spot
well what does the blade runner ost sounds like?
Reminder Dark Tranquillity never made a weak album
kek
I think I can count on one hand the amount of times we had serious shitpost free discussions of this album
This albums is the biggest thread destroyer since Mgla
I tried to stir some enthusiasm for it before and immediately after it came out and failed miserably.
To be honest, while it's a great album, it wasn't necessary in the slightest and we could've done without it.
I really liked the nod to Yearning The Seeds Of A New Dimension in the middle of Towards The Black Surreal, though. That was class.
>the only good thing that ever came out of that particular scene
It's barely even melodeath
sounds like atmoshit
there's plenty
>ATG debut
>overrated
actually, no
it's a great album, besides
and that's exactly why it's good :^)
i don't understand the appeal of the album
Ebin
But The Gallery and Crimson are still better
And that's perfectly fine. I don't understand the appeal of USPM or metalcore, that doesn't mean they're inherently bad. Like most genres, it has a rather noticeable crust of absolutely dreadful bands around it, but the core bands/albums are great and full of merit. It's fine to dislike them, it's absolutely fine to dislike its offspring (because it IS terrible), but it's outright pettiness and impulsive contrarianism to deny the 1993-1997 period left behind some beautiful/meritful albums.
And it's a shame because I'm completely serious. It is one of my favorite albums in years
this
and this
time for this "gothemburg/melodeath is shit" meme to stop
post good power metal
youtube.com
VERY NICE!
>but it's outright pettiness and impulsive contrarianism to deny the 1993-1997 period left behind some beautiful/meritful albums.
I just don't get The Red in the Sky Is Ours though
i didn't say anything else
Skydancer is pretty meh
Friden is shit vocalist
The new version of Alone they did with Stanne was nice though
What's there to get, though? It's their most conventional album. I quite like their almost black-metal-ish melodies and the violin details are gorgeous, especially in the opener. Come to think of it, it's closer to norse black metal than the classical swedish death metal sound. Maybe that's why I like it. It's like a rawer, more brutal Dissection. And I like Dissection a lot.
>implying Insomnium, Amorphis and Be'lakor aren't as good as these
Finland makes better melodeath than Sweden now
Ew the beard thing is getting worse...how has he not killed himself
SotS is better though and so is TSD
I was just speaking generally of all the hate the style gets, which is mainly owed to the fact that it begat a stream of truly terrible bands that took the original sound to regrettable extremes
Those are all great, but they've their own sound, which is more straight-on melodic death metal. The Gothemburg melodeath scene I refer to has its own particular sound (that was sadly imitated by untalented fucks that made truly dreadful "metal", I won't deny that).
Should I be ashamed for enjoying some Scar Symmetry and Soilwork songs?
In all honestly he's probably leading up to that.
The three albums are much too different from eachother to say one is better than the other, really. Personally I think they're all equally great and in the case of their debut and SotS, they truly created something unique and memorable (sadly the latter inspired many ill-intentioned and/or terribly misguided meloshitters)
not him but TRitSIO just sounded so harsh and dissonant when I listened to it
Depends. Their early stuff was riding hot on the coattails of the style's classics, so they're not that bad.
Yeah I can see that. Again, in my particular case, that only adds to the enjoyment. They were more death metal (hell, even more black metal) than melodic anything at that point, and yet it's lousy with subtle and beautiful pieces of what would become the trademark melodic sound. It's just sometimes hard to get from under the rawness and sheer speed.
I actually like last 3 Soilwork albums the most
What am I in for?
So I bought tickets for the Opeth concert in Sydney, but now one of my mates can't go.
I can't find a replacement, so I have to sell it.
However, I have to pick the tickets up from the venue on the night.
How should I sell them? Should I ask if the tickets could be mailed to me instead?
Garbage!
Whats the name of that BM album with a photo of a burning forest?
Try to sell it at the concert. You could sell it for quite a bit more. If you cant sell it just give to someone or keep it has a souvenir
There are hundreds of them
If I can't find a replacement my gf is just going to come with me.
How easy is it to sell on the day, and could they possibly cancel my tickets for scalping? Never been to such a big concert.
