Is Mozart cool because he was a genius or is it because he was a young person?

Because he didn't give a shit

he is the classical equivalent of listening to an underground rock band that isn't known, he is that underrated

Wish that nigga would record more Chopin. I only have his ballades disc, concertos, 3 mazurkas and a waltz.

underrated

Literally every pleb knows Mozart though.

He's the equivalent of the Beatles. Everyone knows him, but few know what actually makes his music so good.

Why are classical aficionados so pretentious? I've never come across a more pretentious music subculture

It's actually shit rofl

Any thoughts one the counterpoint work of Jimmy Wyler for guitar? I've been digging on his etudes and there's a lot of stuff there. Curious to hear what you think of it, definitely not only for guitarists!

Best living conductor.

Where do i find Arraus Heritage Collection? I rarely download anything these days, but just listened to Arraus playing Brahms op.5 no 3 and I fucking need this

No

>Erstaunlich, that anyone would want to deny Jews the music of Bach, as if the music itself contained the contagion of anti-semitism. I favored Barenboim conducting Wagner in Israel, but I see the issue. There is really no similar issue here. Talk about the St. John Passion if you like. But as a general rule if you apply collective guilt to instrumental music you'll find yourself living in a narrow world
what did he mean by this

>living in a narrow world
sounds fun to me

...

>Tilson Thomas
>no Vänskä or Salonen

he looks at least 20% west african

seriously what do you see in his playing? is it irony? is it intentional dullness that I'm not edgy enough to appreciate?

...

Based Finns.

JEG has improved a lot over the years and has gone from completely intolerable for me to relatively good

his recent Missa Solemnis for instance is much more interesting than his old recording

don't really care for his Brahms though. i want Immerseel to do a Brahms HIP cycle, i think that could be interesting.

>underrating MTT
Pleb

Schiff is one of those modernist dudes who believe they should interpret the sheet music free of ego, but with Bach you're forced to make choices so even the dullest playing will be personal. I like the faster tempos he picks, the way he does trills, not pedaling is always a plus, dynamics are more subtle than most pianists without being absent, his technique is good and there's something enjoyable about the way that comes across when playing notes evenly.

>with Bach you're forced to make choices
how?

I'm sorry but i just don't find Bach to be all that good, i like the violin sonatas but his harpsichord stuff just sounds same-y after a while and i stop caring about his skill at counterpoint.

>i stop caring about his skill at counterpoint.

chances are you don't have any idea what that even means.

I honestly do it's just boring for some reason, i think it's more the harpsichord than Bach himself

Unmarked tempos, zero indication of dynamics, fingering, ornaments are played differently by many people, slurs are only written to extend a note across measures. He doesn't even specify what instrument it's for. The tiny differences between interpretations can be interesting and keeps his music feeling alive.

>Bach on harpsichord
Disgusting. Listen to Richter and Nikolayeva play Bach

...

Well if you're tired of the sonics then just spend a month listening to chant and then get back at 'er.

Rec soothing music.

>finally learn how to play Beethoven's 32th sonata
>tfw can't play the last 3 minutes without shedding at least a couple of tears

>doesn't like Bach on harpsichord
ultimate pleb filter

also much of Bach's work is overrated in general. His cantatas and church organ pieces are god tier, but he's nowhere near the first composer I'd go for with violin sonatas or harpsichord music

>pleb feels

>violin sonatas or harpsichord music
violin sonatas fine, but who wrote better harpsichord music?

Scarlatti

>Scarlatti on harpsichord
Absolutely haram.

Beatles arent' good though

THIS

that's user's point
