I've been thinking about joining the military. I've narrowed it down to airforce. Anyone here want to share their experience there? What would you suggest I do? I'm thinking about either seeing what their college options are, or maybe just try to learn a decent trade there that I can do and is in demand in the civilian world. And what's the daily life like on the bases? And also do I get sent a lot to places abroad, or mainly stay in the states?

Military. It's essentially a declaration that you've lost the game.

Think about it. The power of free will and you *still* settle for slavery. Wonderful, no?

From an early age, you're influenced by your environment. Your parents (or lack of), teachers (in some manner, shape or form) and other mentors can help steer your life in a direction, whichever direction that may actually be.

However, during all of this, if you're still alive and have most of your bodily functions, there are a whole world of opportunities available to you. Especially in this day and age of technological marvels and the wonders of the Internet to provide information (and, of course, misinformation.)

The military should not even be an option, at this point, because not only is there enough information to suggest that joining it is only for those who've allowed themselves to be brainwashed by a military-industrial complex keen on retaining what power they have left ... but there is also enough information available for people to make their own decisions on what they'd like to do, instead.

Still, people join. They wish to be broken down and remoulded in somebody else's image.

This is a sign of weakness. Of allowing one's self to be influenced and corrupted by those with power and ambition. Essentially, those who join the military are no-better than mindless sheep.

>tl;dr: Join the military? You're a faeces-flinging, irradiated, nuclear-powered rhesus monkey who enjoys others making decisions for you.

i guess you forgot who fought for our freedom in 1775. hippie fat fuck

I'd love to see how little basement dwelling autistic fags like yourself would survive without the military that defends your freedoms. 200kg 30 year old fucks who refuse to move out of their mother's basement aren't designed for anything more than to be the shitheap of society.

Former Air Force. 3E751. That's the trade you want. Fire fighter. It's dick duty, you don't do shit with the squadron and deployments are never to forward areas. In the rear with the gear. And it's all usable when you come to the end of your enlistment.

TDY's happen, it's a fact of life. Most AFSC's that get deployed wind up doing guard duty on the flightline. That's why it's nice being a firefighter, your job is protecting assets, so no shit duty. Hard to get into.

Also... get everything in writing, never trust your recruiter and never go in open general.

fuck the usa

>What do I do?
Join the Air Force if you value your own quality of life and lack the false masochistic desire to prove how awesome you are by being treated like a bitch.
>College options/Civilian options
Do well on the ASVAB to get good job prospects. If you aren't a total retard, you should score at least 80 and qualify for non-shitty jobs. Wait until you have a good one or one you are genuinely interested in - don't go open contract unless you don't care or your life is falling apart very fast. Don't hold your breath for awesome jobs - those are reserved for cunts who have full-bird Colonels as daddies. DO NOT pay into the Montgomery GI Bill (will cost $1200 for nothing), enlist for 4 years (NOT 6, even if tempted with faster promotion), and get out to go to college once you are done.
>Daily life on bases?
Depends on your location. I'd say 80% of Air Force bases are clean, well-developed, and have enough necessities and commodities to keep you happy enough - outlying civilian communities are total dice roll. Army, Marine, and Navy bases that meet this are around maybe 10%, so fuck enlisting in those branches.
>Abroad, or states?
Depends on your AFSC (your job). Some jobs are needed everywhere, like Security Forces - these jobs tend to suck major asshole, but have an equal shot at getting you anywhere (remember what I said before about job prospects). Other jobs are limited to specific bases, but the reasons for that vary completely case by case. Almost everyone will be deployed eventually, so prepare to see all of the worst parts of the world (with the sole exception of a few specific jobs such as missile maintenance, but doing rotations in missile fields is basically deployment).

TL;DR:
Chair Force is the pussy branch, join it if you want to be even marginally as comfortable as a civilian.
Do your time, get out, use benefits.
It will suck, but your life sucks now, so who cares.

The US military :

Cause of, and claimed solution to all the world's problems.

50% of your taxes baby, image what you could accomplish with that money, but, nope

You gone outside yet today? Or are you waiting for your 68 year old mum to finish cooking your chicken tendies?

Don't live in the US (holy shit, someone that doesn't live in the US using the internet?!) so I couldn't give less of a shit about your taxes. Also couldn't care less for the poor flag bait. Can tell you though that without your military, you probably wouldn't exist as the piece of scum you are today

The airforce will fuck you over yeah they have the best living conditions but its like being in high school everyone one has an ego and if you go special forces or shit like that your putting your life in danger during training. Im 31 years old and im joining the navy better pay and more freedom ive already chosen my rate which is a hospital corpsmen a d hopefully ill get to be able to get diver training or recon after a school.

My mother is in the airforce and ive lived on base and it sucked

I've been an Aircraft Loadmaster for 10 years and I have loved every second of it. In my career field I can see the direct impact of my job on the world.

Unless you want to be super speed special forces type, enlisted aircrew is the way to go. Flight Engineers are in the cockpit with the pilots and have a demanding job. Boom Operators refuel planes and haul some cargo/passengers. Loadmasters carry anything and everything the military needs. Mission Systems Specialists man radar screens and help pick targets. Flight Attendants fly with everyone from Generals to Senators to the President. And Special Missions Aviators are combat aircrew who do spec Ops insertion and extraction... And also shoot things with guns.

And aircrew fly everywhere,so you'll be able to see the world. As a loadmaster I've been to 60+ countries over the last 10 years. Pretty much all of western Europe, and Asia. Large parts of the Middle East, northern and southern Africa, throughout south America and numerous pacific islands.

So Airforce, promotions are very slow. They are extremely pick about bullshit in basic. Being airforce will enable you to pick up random chicks.

Army/Navy Fast promotions, most of your co-workers will be dumb as dogshit. It's meh

Coast Guard - There is a special place in my heart for the guard. Enlistment/signup bonuses are not as good as army/navy. There are some fuckable coastie chicks out there, better than navy mattresses (navy chicks). Promotions are decent. When you get out, you will get a better job than an army/navy faggot.

Remember, airforce is cool BUT promotions are slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Please could a kind photoshopper make the rpg face the wrong way. I would do it but I got to go

AD USAF here, I'm a cop. Sucks. I didn't want it. But for the job and how easy it is, the military provides me enough for a free home free water free electricity, underpriced food, free premium healthcare, and free college outside the gi bill. It's institutionalized but if your okay with long hours go for it. My personal recommendation and I know a lot of others that are in agree with me, go to college with an Air Force rotc that way you can be an officer if you still decide you wanna join. You'll make a shit load of money you don't need and have more respect. *mic drop* plus if Donald trump is elected were going to war so promotions will be handed out like candy which is more respek and money and the job eventually gets easier 2/6 years done.

The SU 34 is beautifull: youtube.com/watch?v=3_J0nvVMxzE

Free loading off your rich liberal parents for college money is a sign of weakness.

Military earn their right to go to college.

What about you? How's that womyns studies degree working out for you.

Liberals like you make me glad genocide is still around, you will all hang from light posts soon.

If Air Force fire fighter is anything like army in terms of slots then his chances of getting it are slim to none.

Super rare job in active duty army.

lol it's ok to admit you didn't have the grades to get a scholarship ya big dummy

You're talking about the pro liberal anti American brainwashing in colleges right?

This I'm an 2T2 (I put cargo on aircraft) we work with load masters daily they always seem to have the better job and they get to travel which is fucking dope especially when you're on a C-5 that conveniently breaks down in Hickam

Good luck with that, at 31 that shits going to suck.

In reality you could be waiting a couple of years to get a recon slot, not everyone in corps school gets the advanced training they desire.

If you really want to go special ops you should do Actuve Army 18X or 11X or 68W option 40.

You're probably going to end up in a hospital if you go corpsman.

I'll take what are student loans and scholarships for $500 Alex

Dude I just have to jump in. If you want to be a DMT, you may have a shot. If you want to be a SARC you don't have a shot in hell at 31. I'm not talking your physique either, you will be simply told no because of age.

I'm actually a C-5 guy. Yeah the breaking happens but it's usually crap we COULD fly with but if we're at a maintenance capable base (which is damn near all the ones we go to) AFIs say we have to get it fixed. That being said, yeah...we still break like whoa. The - M model seems to have stopped that trend for now.

And that's not considering the age he will be once he gets a slot.

I'm sure they have age waivers. But if I were him I would do 68w option 40.

This guy knows what he's talking about.
Current Security Forces E4 here.
Air Force is gonna take care of you and definitely has the best quality of life including helping pay for your college while you're in (that's excluding the GI Bill which you'll still have and is separate). My recommendation: just go to fucking college and find something you like. If you really can't stand it or find any other options, do 4 years like he said. If you like it you can always stay longer, and if you don't who fuckin cares 4 years actually can go by pretty fast.

>active duty, E4, C-130 crew chief

Look man, if you'remember looking for a good dicking this is the place to be. Long hours out on the flightline, and hardly get the recognition for a job well done. Though the work admirable, great for post military career opportunities, and in the time i've been in, I've been to 6 different countries. Each one have more good than bad experiences. If you're serious about joining make sure you know what you're getting into. Recruiters make it seem easy, but you gotta work toward what you wanna do. Not to mention the pay ain't half bad.

If you want more info, just ask

All the branches have the same pay for the same rank. Only thing that differs is allowances like COLA (Cost of Living Allowance) and BAH (Basic allowance for housing). Ignore that part, OP

Just don't go security forces or open anything and you'll be fine

Waited until the war was over to join? Pussy

It sounds like you don't know what you want, OP. You need to seriously consider what you want and the best way to get there.

If college is your end-goal, then figure out what you value more...time, or money. And consider the experience.

You can join the military... shower with a bunch of dudes, shit with a bunch of dudes, sleep on cots above or below other dudes... and in 4 or 6 years or however long you sign up for, yeah, you'll be able to go to college for free.

Or you can take out student loans and go to college right now... drink, party, bang a bunch of chicks between classes and studying for exams...

If you value time over money, take out the student loans. If you value money over time, serve x number of years in the military I guess.

But figure out what you really want first before you commit to anything. My 2 cents...

Also, OP. You could always go Guard or Reserve in the Air Force.
With Guard you pick a place in the state you live in (Guard is controlled by the state) and you stay there forever (can ask to switch to other Guard bases within the state).
And Reserve you can move from state to state (both are "weekend warriors").
You still get college benefits for both, and all of the same training; eg basic training and tech school (for your job). Look into what benefits your state offers specifically if you're going guard because it varies from state to state. Some states are very pro-military and provide more funding and others don't have many bases at all so they don't really gaf.

They have a program were you can basically be national Guard for 2 years and go to college then go active duty as an officer pretty much the best way to go

Yeah, go to college and bang chicks, then go to jail for rape because you didn't respond to her text.

I'm about to get out of the AF after 10 years. Don't do it. It's gotten progressively worse over the last 8 years.

>Airforce
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You're funny.

> progressively
> "progressive"
> black Jesus in the White House.

See what you did there.

I have been in for about a year now, and I'd say that from what I've heard about how it used to be, this is probably true. That said, of any branch we are treated the best.

Yes guard, for everyone who is too much of a good ol' boy for AD and doesn't want a real career because they are afraid of commitment. I love it when a Ssgt who has far less formal training and actual job experience tries to tell me how to do my job.

Well said, user. Well said.

I'm not saying they're up to AD standards; I'm just giving OP real options. If he really likes it, he can always try to switch to AD.
Some part timers are fuck heads, but a lot of them are actually pretty cool. Met this Major who's SWAT back in Vegas or some shit and he taught us real tactics and put together a program to get concealed carry qualified for whateverthefuck states he's from (which is pretty cool because we're overseas even though it's kinda useless).

I went on two tours. One was mostly in Northern Afghanistan, you know, the wild west of the Middle East. I think anyone who joins the military after 2000 is a giant faggot. You're fighting so contractors can make money, not for anything noble or cause worthy.

It's not for everyone. I wouldn't enter if you have options available to you.

Most people that I've seen while I was in where down on their luck, had bad influences and probably couldn't go anywhere. Some ended up getting kicked out, some made it through, others gave up.

The biggest tip I can give you, and anyone wishing to join is that you should take consideration of the possibilities.

Most military jobs aren't transferable in the current market. The best thing you'll get is a small highlight on your resume saying you served. Some jobs are transferable. Some aren't. Employers are looking for people with experience. It's not like how it was in the 50's-70's.

I made the unfortunate decision of joining the Army as a MP. I was told all the glory about being a civilian cop afterwards. I was told that it would be easy. But it was really quite the opposite. I was actually denied by serval police departments that my skills aren't wanted, and that they didn't fit the requirements. They would rather have a computer programmer as a cop rather than a 2 Afghanistan tours police officer.

The reason why, it's very much simple. The military has very set and highly regulated rulings. A MP is trained way differently than your civilian cop. I'm not going in details, but you can look it up. There's plenty of people complaining about it.

I would recommend talking to recruiters, and find people who are currently in, don't believe recruiters.

Do research and find the best after-military job research. You don't want to be that person working.

No one in can, with a guarantee tell you that you will get the job you wanted.

Right now, the only real reason to join is for college benefits. I received my associates in business management and computer science. Those are both transferable skills.

The thing that my drill sgt said while I was in basic was "boy, you better get the most out of your time, because the army will sure take it out of you".

It's your choice.

>brainwashing

the earth is really 5000 years old right?

>hospital corpsmen

I have a friend who was a hospital corpsman on a battleship back in Nam. He saw some shit, believe it or not.

OP must have been a jagoff in high school if being a glorified grunt and ROTC isn't even an option.

You're welcome for my tax money paying your chair force salary you loser.

>implying the military doesn't pay taxes for your benefits and their own as well

>implying that your base pay of $10 is worth taxing

>Make $27,000 a year; almost half of it untaxable and I don't pay state taxes. Not to mention I don't pay for housing, electric, water, etc. Not bad for less than three years in.
