I hope no is retarded to make this comparison. The Olympics doesn't limit the number of Europeans in an event, but it does limit the number of Americans

What does this have to do with anything? If we had to limit the number of European competitors we'd send the best ones. All the winners would still be there, and you'd still have half the number of medals.

>EU total
Kek

Just curious now. I want to see medal count by continent. Is Europe winning or Asia?

We had this same thread yesterday and you were BTFO nigel

>UK
>european union

choose one, fucktard

think about events where europeens come 1st 2nd 3rd

they are still in EU for atleast 2 more years

...

We're still in the EU, you dumb cunt.

Still got twice as many golds though

So the EU might have marginally fewer bronze medals. This doesn't change the fact that the best three athletes in the world in that event would be European, only that one of them wouldn't be able to compete. It wouldn't make America any better at sports. It also doesn't change the fact that the EU has 22 Olympic champions and the US only has 11.

thanks for the laughs

> per capita argument refuted
>posts new bullshit argument

>EU
>cunt

Yes. No.

22 > 11

Not sure how that doesn't make any sense.

Think about elimination sports like Judo or Tennis. It's a lot easier to win when half the entries are yours.

FUNNY ISN'T IT

The EU isn't a country.

>get butthurt when we lump france and sweden with euros
>suddenly all of europe wants to pretend it's a single nation

This sounds a lot like a per capita argument. It's really irrelevant how many competitors are from the EU, the best in the world will still win the gold medal. Unless the rest of the world had somebody better you could send your entire tear-stained country and you still wouldn't beat them.

THINGS THAT MAKE YA GO HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Does this mean we can include Canada and Mexico into the medal count? Oh wait......

>MUH EUROPEAN PRIDE!

Fuck off you globalist cuck

>significantly more competitors
>diversified cultures = diversified specialization in certain sports
>significantly more focus on each participant in terms of training, financing, etc.

>everybody hates Germany
>France hates everybody
>Germany looks down on all of you

>but for the purposes of trying to pretend new mecca is better than America we're all one nation with a rich shared history and purpose

This is Europe: the post

And?

Yes, that's correct. Europe does sport better than you.

really makes me think

>I hope no is retarded

I know you is retarded

Can we all take a moment to laugh at Bangladesh, popularity of 171,000,000 and they have never won an Olympic medal

>have at least 3 or 4 times more competitors than the USA
>have twice the gold medals, and less than twice the total medals

Even Voltron-style, Europeans still don't measure up to the USA.

Your meme troll post is invalid.

>Europe
>a country
>hey guys, if the world competed as one country, they'd beat the US huehuehue

M-muh per capita

>It's really irrelevant how many competitors are from the EU, the best in the world will still win the gold medal.
Look at the women's gymnastics all-around qualifiers. The top 4 competitors were American, but only two of them got to move on to finals, because each country could have no more than two competitors in the competition

>muh combining countries
Next you'll try to unify with Asia.

Europe doesn't have to be a country for the fact that Europeans are better at sport than Americans to be true.

>falling for this shitty Sup Forums bait
You're all idiots.

kek

>Eurasia at it again boys, you Americunts just can't keep up

>M-muh per capita
Per capita is used when discussing the population of a nation, not the number of competitors. See

Correct. It's different than the per capita argument, which is that, due to our population, we create better athletes by breeding in sheer numbers.

If we sent more competitors, as the EU concept suggests, then the per capita argument would be applicable from the standpoint that the US has so many athletes in the games, we win every medal.

Actually it was only the top three, and the only difference would be you might possibly have one more bronze medal. It would not change the fact you're getting booty blasted..

But it does, because individually, you aren't beating us. So you're back to the per capita argument, or you're confirming you have to have more competitors by a wide margin than the US.

Why are we even arguing with Great Shitstain? Bring the Aussies back, at least their claim was somewhat believable.

nice damage control, can't hear you over my many more medals than you

>we create better athletes by breeding in sheer numbers

Yet you have half the number of gold medals. Your athletes are in no way better than the superior European masterrace.

>he thinks this was my argument
Bro... this is the per capita argument. It's utter horse shit. Do you reading comprehension?

You're not even part of the EU anymore, Brexit Britbong. Quit sucking their dick so much.

>solid example of why the Euros are dead wrong
>Euros don't respond to it, because they can't refute it
Typical. Just typical.

>But it does, because individually, you aren't beating us

We have twice the number of gold medals. Even if we only sent the 22 winners we'd still be destroying you.

>italy
>more medals
kekasaurus rex

Why is America so bad at the Olympics?
thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/08/02/why-is-america-so-bad-at-the-olympics.html

the fact is, Britain, Canada and Australia are
now in the vanguard.
“I think where Britain leads the way along with
others like the Australian Institute of Sport is that
the funding allows full-time dedicated sports
scientists to work with the sports,” says Greg Whyte,
a double Olympian and former director of research
for the British Olympic Association.

In Britain, the major Olympic sports are now
centrally funded so they can employ full-time
scientists, sports medics, physiotherapists, and soft
tissue specialists who are on call seven days a week
drawing up and then implementing rigorous
programs that will allow a small group of chosen
athletes to reach their physical peak

In the U.S. sporting world, there is no equivalent
federal funding for the Olympic sports. In most cases
there are hardly even any central organizers.

“The U.S. is unique from a sports perspective; we
have no minister of sport or federal ministry. Even
the Olympic association really has no control over
any of this process—they’re there to support but
they can’t really mandate anything,” he told The
Daily Beast.
“It’s not a mystery, most of the high-level research
in athletics is coming out of Canada, Australia, and
England, and that’s because those countries have
federal oversight of sport, federal ministries of
sport.”

>Bongs living vicariously through the achievements of a union they democratically voted to leave

>we have twice the number of gold medals
Because you have significantly more competitors as a unified group of countries, because no one is limiting you as a singular nation. Those competitors are also more culturally-specialized to a variety of sports because, again, you are not actually a unified country.

How difficult is this for you to comprehend? I thought the British were smarter than us. Are you in Leeds?

But it is irrelevant however many athletes you send. Unless you're purposefully not sending potential world champions you would not have a single gold medal more than you do. You would gain at best a few silvers and some bronze.

I am italian, you are californian.
I am european, you are american.

Check OP pic again

Didn't you vote to get out if the EU? Why are you joyriding other's achievements?

Just send the best, get the golds

Meaningless

It would be more spread out funding actually, loads more total European athletes and population but the same GDP

anything else to refute?

Did you just compare a state to a country lmao

>he genuinely believes saturating the competitive pool wouldn't lead to more medals
You're joking.

>comparing state to country
Jesus fuck Italy.

>we
you keep saying this but it simply isn't true lad

>thedailybeast
i thought we were past ironic posting

That's what happens if you combine pooinloos with Islam.

ITT: idiotic yuros grasp at straws

american states are as diverse as two european countries. There is more difference between new england and california than between belarus and portugal.
So yes, I do compare american states to european countries.

It does not matter how many competitors the EU sends, the best in the world would win no matter what. You sending more athletes would not have prevented us from winning any of those 22 gold medals. And yes, Europe does sport better than America.

You're a literal Moron. Stop talking about things you are clearly clueless about.

And the meme events where some rando comes out of nowhere to medal when they were ranked outside the top 25 (and clearly not top 2 or 3 in Europe).

You literally missed all of those points except for the last, which you "refuted" poorly.

I fucking wish.

american states form an actual country

>There is more difference between new england and california than between belarus and portugal
mate you know nothing about America if you actually believe this

If you're going to dickwave a whole continent, you'll have to compare it to another continent, in this case North America, so combine the US with Canada and latin Americans

Although considering how poorly Cant'nada and latinos are doing it wouldn't add much

I mean, you're bragging about landmasses for pop-nationalist reasons, you have to keep such landmasses equivalent in legal status

Yes because California plays rugby, cricket, and competitive rowing while New York is more of a judo, shotput, and volleyball kind of state. Please, just stop.

While Spaghetti's point is bullshit, Americans do like to rave on about how the different states are so diverse and America is comparable to Europe in that sense.

>Significantly more competitors

OK so we send the best 500 and get all the golds maybe miss out on some bronze but who cares

>diversified cultures = diversified specialization in certain sports

This is just a meaningless excuse for when you lose? Doesnt really mean anything

If the last point needs explaining you're a idiot

>Same total GDP
>500m people vs 300m people

The 300m will have more funds per person

He gets all his info from Sup Forums and Sup Forums

That's just about the dumbest comparison I have ever seen.

a shit country, may I add

>It would be more spread out funding actually, loads more total European athletes

actually the number of European athletes would be severely limited if Europe was actually considered one country. Currently there are thousands of Europeans competing, while the US sends only 555

Why is everyone responding to such obvious bait? Everyone in this thread is retarded.

our poorest state has produced more than your entire country ever could nigger

I was wondering how people were going to try to fudge the number to put US at #2. I remember last olympics it only total highest gold metals won, then when US had the most gold it was total metal count mattered with gold = 3, silver = 2 and bronze = 1. Now it's all countries in a continent with 750 million people who can have tons of different teams and entries.

no, there are yuropoors actually stupid enough to believe this

I'm talking about the total athlete pool, not the Olympic athlete pool

The money in America is spent on thousands of people currently then the best of these go to the Olympics

If Europe was one country the Deadwood of each country would be left at home

nah i'm just bored while waiting for a bunch of sdks to download at work

>US sends our best cricket players
>loses to GB
>US sends our best skiers
>loses to Switzerland
>US sends our best soccer team
>loses to Hungary

Each country is specialized, just like the US, in certain sports. If we sent more athletes, with more specialization in sports we rarely play (because we are one country, much like you), we would likely compile an embarrassing number of medals.

You want a united EU? Don't spend millennia as separate nations.

California playing rugby is actually one of the few sports/states where that makes sense

Yurop as a whole is more diverse than America. In terms of culture, language, economy, history and just about everything else.

>when US had the most gold it was total metal count mattered

Like in 2008 when China got 50+ golds and suddenly only total medals mattered?

Everything in your comment has been answered 5+ times if you actually read the thread

I've never heard anyone claim the United States is as diverse as Europe. Maybe topographically, but otherwise, no. I mean sure, there are differences, but we're talking entire cultures here. The only example there that I can think of is the deep south.

Keep shifting them goal posts

You should use the massive free time you have to make it USA vs The World

>you're a idiot
We're done here. See my last few posts for why you're AN idiot.

America is bad at most sports (Basketball is exempt) because we have our own little bubble that has the NFL as our top sport instead of something relevant, such as Football. Since we weren't good at it we decided to make up our own game and call it football.

Could a European basketball team compete against Team USA?

42 is right.

Golds per COUNTRY has always been the accepted metric on Sup Forums, total medals can only be used as a tiebreaker. Anything else is shitposting and you should know this

Every single one of my points makes sense, if you can't even attempt an argument then you've been BTFO

Pic related for you, don't like the topic of discussion then fuck off

>BTFO overall by Europe
>BTFO per capita by the Aussies
will America ever recover?

>The 300m will have more funds per person
But I thought yurop had a higher GDP than America.
