First for semi-hollow Epiphones

lmao hendrix didnt know theory why should i

but he did u mong

he had a degree in music composition

>actually hear this pretty often
on a real note can somebody explain how you're supposed to use intervals in a practical manner?

do want

Posted this in the last one but no one answered

Just wondering how I write psychedelic guitar parts like this

youtube.com/watch?v=y_S6wSaEwHs

not being able to read sheet music is not the same as not knowing theory.

>no one answered

it's because no one can answer that fucking question. use indian scales or something

Listen to some Rocky Erickson and buy a delay pedal

...

epiphone > gibson

>how you're supposed to use intervals in a practical manner?

You just kind of learn how they sound and their relationship on the fret board, as well as helping you identify chord progressions (II V I and so on) It's especially useful with moveable chords, you'll know what shapes make a major or minor 7th/b5 etc.. and then you can build your improvisation from that. It's just internalized knowledge, no different from knowing your open chords.

drunk as shit btw so take with a grain of salt

Is this dare I say /ouramp/? Annihilator of blues dads, Immolator of meme rock twelve year olds, Incinerator of nu-male shoegazers.

>because no one can answer that fucking question.
Maybe if you're a fucking idiot.

Tune to B F# B F# B E first off.
You will ALWAYS be playing the 2nd string. On every down beat you will be playing all 6 strings.

Play around with frets 2-8 on the first string. Like I said while you are playing those notes, also be hitting the 2nd string with them.

anyone good at mixing?

say i have

guitar recorded twice
bass recorded twice
vocals recorded twice

what is the best way to mix them together?

people hate on it because that plus tube screamer is generic metal tone.

>wasting electrical energy by double tracking and contributing to the heat death of the universe rather than just copying and pasting.

>caring about meme science that even if it is true will not occur in our lifetimes

>Maybe if you're a fucking idiot.
no, it's because it's a nonsensical question

and your advice is absolute nonsense as well

>generic
>used by a majority of metal players
>generic metal tone

It's almost like it's the most common metal tone because people know that it is the best metal tone.

So intervals are used to figure out what kind of chord progression are being used in a key so that we can start making improvisation a little easier?

but i change pickups to sound fuller

Open tunings with drone strings,

The last chapter of music.

No you're actually a fucking idiot who plays in standard tuning and pentatonic scales. Fuck out of here.

Sure, chord progressions are usually notated as scale degrees (intervals) so if someone says play I IV V in E you should know what that means . Really though the most important part is using intervals to build chords. Most shapes are moveable so you'll get a hang of it quickly once you can memorize a few.

>be more active poster than usual today
>notice board has been unusually shit
welp

anyway how do yall feel about pic related. i kinda want the humbucker but the colors are worse on that one
not that i can afford it right now anyway lol
>had to sell strat+amp+pedals for tuition/rent money
>only have the acoustic now
meh at least its only temporary, i finish school in 6mo and ill save up for a new guitar then, even if i have to work shit min wage jobs for a bit afterwards (pls no)

>meme tuining

o i am laffin

e standard, open g, open e, and dadgad are all you need

kill yourself you fucking retard

>HURR LOOK AT ME I'M SO KNOWLEDGEABLE ON WORLD MUSIC
>advice is to tune each string to a random note

just tell him to use a drone and stop giving shitty advice on a topic you clearly know nothing about

>open tunings

lmao get the fuck to bed grandpa

>use a drone

Look out guys

A guy who just picked up a guitar 5 months ago is trying to give advice

anyone here play a harmonica with their guitar?

thinking about getting one to play some folk acoustic stuff with for those comfy coffeehouse vibes

any tips?

I'm really fucking clueless so excuse this retarded question
When someone asks whats key I'm playing in, what do I tell them?
My tuning?

>>A guy who just picked up a guitar 5 months ago is trying to give advice
>doesn't refute anything i've said

i've been playing for over 10 years but okay dude. i'm sure you're the most knowledgable person in here on indian music

also: there's absolute no chance the guy in that clip was using that retarded fucking tuning

Except that he routinely used it in Sun City Girls you fucking clown

Go post in another thread. This isn't for you.

>not playing open G to get those sweet major6sus4 chords youtube.com/watch?v=GuVax7iMM6Y

not him but open tunings can really rock

>only 21 frets
help

>dadrock
opinion and meme tunings discarded

look up 'key (music)' on wikipedia.

key is a group of notes. C major is C D E F G A B.

So if youre playing a C Am G progression, youre playin in C major.

If you're playing C D G, now youre in G major because Dmajor is D F# A, so the key is now G A B C D E F#

etc

nope. try open c or something like EBEEBE

How about not you fucking bitch

>not enjoying rolling stones

u gotta bait harder than that

/GG/ IS NOT /METALFAGS VS BLUESFAGS GENERAL/

COULD YOU ARGUMENTATIVE FAGGOTS FUCK OFF PLS

except it's not bait?
I can't get behind the idea of a bunch of coked up white shmucks copying coloured people music

We are taking it back from you fender offset shoegaze indie rock faggots

is it worth $7000?
I really don't want to find a dedicated bassist and this shit looks and sounds fucking cool
I'm just imagining all the cool shit I do with it
youtube.com/watch?v=dFyjy3AGvSw

Anyone of you know these guys ?
youtube.com/watch?v=0O47wg7LLqM&
The bass line is really catchy i find, it's dynamic and does someone care to tell me what he is doing at 24 seconds ?
The song I think is E F# and G#
Part 1: F# F# G# G# G# G# E F#
Part 2: F# G# G# G# G# E(muted)
Part 3: F# F# G# G# G#
And then he goes berserk it blows my mind I'd love to know what it is thanks, dont forget to rate comment and subscribe

>is it worth $7000?

nerd

this is working really well

thank you

oh you're right user, I ought to just buy some more meme 8 strings and a gibson huh

youtube.com/watch?v=znugd57gcAA
i want one

Glad to help

mel9 is cooler
youtube.com/watch?v=3ywPMyq_4cc

what would happen if you ran one through the other?

Picked up a Jackson PRO RR3 yesterday, it's so sweet to play, just have to get used to the Floyd.

I think he does F# F# F# F# G#(hammer) G#

>rather than just copying and pasting
That would just make the waveform louder, you big dummy

both are fucking sweet i need them both

and i need the mel9 to play the KC riff at the beginning: youtube.com/watch?v=MiTHc8d9D20

Genuinely considering to buy a Mel9. Seems like so much fun with a looper. Shame it's so expensive though.

Guitars with 2 necks were a meme before 8 strings.

Really though, think about it, 7 grand for a few hunks of wood. You can get a guitar, a bass, and 2 stands for so much less.

Oh my god okay this makes a lot more sense thank you! I've been looking at Ben Levin's music theory series and this really helped connect what I was failing to understand thank you for taking the time to help user!

>$200+ for effects you can get for free with a torrent'd daw and some plugins
ew

You could pretty much do all that on a 8 of 9 string

I really like the touch aspect of it
not that I have a problem with picking, it's just that it seems infinitely more practical to have both a guitar and a bass at the tip of my fingers than say, having to record an extra bass or guitar track

how do I get the kind of tone Slint has
specifically the sound of Tweez youtube.com/watch?v=igq7M54xRVw
but I also something like youtube.com/watch?v=96MxID3GK4c
I love how scratchy it is

You can use touchstyle on any guitar or bass

youtube.com/watch?v=_o3lX6Qjx9c

Here's my rig. If anyone is wondering the stereo speakers are for the receiver and record player inside the wood cabinet. Anyway, the amp is an HT-1 Tube Combo.

youtube.com/watch?v=XVXWwDsbf1k&index=5&list=PLjRyh8JaC_eQTYsASWO6G4N1KbuaU0CSh

I know he's a meme, but here's touchstyle on a 6 string

And a bit of Stanley Jordan too

youtube.com/watch?v=Tdl5M_b1pOQ

Just bought it today and played with it. Did I do good?

I had one of those a year ago. Thought it was shit. I prefer amp distortion nowadays.

every time i listen to these two handed tappers all i can hear is that high pitched fret slamming sound

its so unbelievably annoying

>I'm actually using it as for a fuzz pedal
Am I retarded?

>Not using this

what's the difference between a fuzz pedal and a distortion pedal?

Does anyone else here think Korean guitars have better build quality than American guitars?

Ive played and owned quite a few Gibsons, Fenders, ect, but ive ditched them all for a Schecter Blackjack C-7(old one with passive Duncans) and a MiK Gretsch Syncromatic. I just find that they are built with great attention to detail and sound great.

youtu.be/VQXaCFr8ePU

nice try korean guitar manufacturer shill

exactly what it sounds like. a fuzz pedal is fuzzier and grittier.

there's also overdrive which is a softer type of distortion

Fuzz is a more extreme form of clipping, see pic

A fuzz pedal is a type of distortion. All fuzz pedals are distortion pedals, but not all distortion ones are fuzz. There are also ones just called distortion pedals which really vary

Proof of not shill...

that is EXACTLY what a shill would post

you cant fool me

If you can find a korean made jazzmaster type guitar that's left-handed, then I'll like korean mades

Damn dude, I love that shade of blue on your Jackson. Do you know what its called?

Heres a Schecter "plzdontsueusfender" Jazzmasterish guitar thing

Everyone post your pedal chain.

>No floating tremolo
Fuck that shit

And I guess rate, if you want.

Picked up the Swollen Pickle a couple of days ago and love it.

...

God damn what cameras are you guys using?

I'm still waiting on my first pedal to arrive, a Red Witch Fuzz God IIc. Was tempted to get a swollen pickle, but naw.

>be 13
>started to get into guitars and shit
>ask dad to put me in guitar class
>dad says its a useless talent that would bring nothing to my life
>mfw

The one on my 10 year old phone

I play jazz so this is my pedal chain i guess.

What's the highest number of pedals you run at once while playing?

I'm a phone poster, so that camera.
