you just called yourself dumb, dummy.

So did you!

Techno - black metal (muh cold feelings)
House (and synthpop as well, too) - Death Metal (genres are more obviously based on their predecessors and have a more conventional approach to their respective genres like metal's riff-centricism or dance music's funky/dub inspired grooves)
Trance - Technical thrash (the real music style itself only really lasted a few years, and has some fantastic underrated gems but have since been bastardized in the upcoming decades; slowly making a comeback in the recent years)
Music with breaks like Dub, DnB, Breakbeat, Garage, etc. - Doom (the slower genres with a focus on groovier beats/riffs)

You're no fun!

I think dub, dnb, breakbeat and garage are too different to all fit under doom

Doom entails its other varying forms like sludge, drone, stoner, etc. as well though.

I still dunno. Where does that leave heavy metal and grindcore and progressive metal and shit like that?

Heavy metal - 70s electro stuff like Kraftwerk (older influential stuff, often has a small revival scene every decade)
Grindcore - hardcore electronic stuff like hardcore techno, happy hardcore, speedcore (fast paced often chaotic)
Prog metal - progressive electronic Berlin school stuff (roots in the early stuff, varying structures)

Alright, how about dude metal genres like nu metal and metalcore?

It would be the bro tier stuff of electronic dance music. Electro house in its form as a trendy mainstream genre (its forms ranging from "brostep" to the current "big room house" all being the various forms of dumb baby tier metal stuff)

And power metal would be eurodance, yes?

power metal would be power metal

wuh?

Pretty much. Hi NRG maybe, too. But yeah, that cheesy goodness either way.

don't really agree with doom, since DnB/breakbeat is only technically "slow", in reality it feels much more frenetic than doom.

House as DM is pretty spot on. Both are more "fun" and less serious than bm/techno but bm/techno get all the ~*artistic*~ coverage.

Djent

I was thinking of sludgy bands that maintain that sense of frenetic feel that those genres have due to how often in that genre you have slow as fuck stuff followed by faster hardcore punk sounding stuff, sometimes even straight up blasts like Acid Bath. Fits the fact that DnB and Breaks aren't 24/7 crazy (only breakCORE and drill are for example actually 24/7 crazy while standard breakbeat is more hip hop like and DnB tends to switch between slower grooves and crazy parts)

what would sludge and stoner metal be?

Good question. Ima have to ruminate on that
