Sierra Leone in 2007 I think. Was cool, hotels with no guests and swimming pools and lobster for dinner. Really nice beaches. Some nice roads, a lot of bad ones. Capital was exotic and stereotypically warm and humid while the inland(~150-200km) got so cold in the night everyone had to wear coats. Really shitty airport, though.

I visited Egypt AMA. I stayed near Cairo but when we traveled from the resort to Luxor we had to do it in a convoy of buses with armed guards on some of them along with military trucks leading and trailing. It was like in 2008ish idk if it's still like that.
