It's huge to the point that it's too big. Have you ever watched roadmaps of Europe vs Africa.

Central Europe is worlds most connected place with autobahns/motorways between countries. And the quality of those motorways is so good that some of the lanes don't have speed limits and you can drive as fast as your car goes.

To build same kind of transportation system in Africa between countries is practically impossible not to mention maintenance of the system. Africa is never going to have well connected and maintained motorway system between countries because it's so big.
