Angle yourself, stay at about 14 km. Also, get the second hull as soon as you can. It's the only way I've had any real success.

Nagato has shitty armor, is pretty fast and has brutal gins if the shells manage to land. She was a painful grind and the kancolle version managed to motivate me enough to get through it.
Angle yourself, keep a good distance and AP it all, exception being destroyers ofc, they are like paper. Just like the other user said you should get hull upgrade asap, really changes her overall performance.

Don't max range snipe, optimal range is different for each ship. Kongou had a sweet spot of about 16 km, Nagatos is about 14km. Stay at about that range, and don't show your broadside often if you can help it.
