>/prod/ wiki - still looking for contributors mu-sic-production.wikia.com There's a severe lack of DAW descriptions in the wiki. If you're good with your tool of choice, consider writing a paragraph about it.
Remember to use clyp.it to post your tracks/WIP: posting a clyp.it is just providing sound for a question, posting a Soundcloudlink is making self-advertisement and the thread doesn't need that.
Remember to check other peoples' clyp.it links to keep the thread healthy.
man I don't know anything about ableton(or any DAW) but I decided to start learning the other day, this is what I'm working on right now. barely anything there yet but its supposed to be the perfect cell theme from DBZ
i like it, not sure if you plan on getting vocals over it but i think that would be nice mix sounds fine, nothing stands out as being too bad. i would say the kick is a bit loud
Caleb Ramirez
I hope so too, user. I have so little confidence right now. I just constantly feel like it's stupid. I wish I were musically gifted.

I taught myself by remaking other people's songs. The first year that I was producing, I just did remakes. For example:
And that's how I learned pretty much everything, by reverse engineering songs.

Have you ever made a track from scratch just to realize that that's the kind of music you'd like to keep making but you don't really know which genre it fits into?
There's a big tradition of that kind of loose electronica from both the European and American (mostly Detroit) camps - usually album tracks but no less valid for it, keep it up.
Andrew Carter
Does anyone find that menu diving on older gear improves your tweaking and makes you more deliberate in your actions? On software I find myself making a half-assed synth/sampler patch and reaching for fx far too quickly
Thanks for the suggestions. The blofeld looks pretty nice.
Camden Barnes
This is some great stuff, thanks.
Jacob Peterson
Any archived threads or infographics on trap /prod/uction someone could point me to? Thank you in advance.
Nicholas Thomas
Before anybody gets on my helmet about "trap" I should add that I am studying music theory and teaching myself chords/progression.
Juan Miller
I need this in my life and I need it now.
Blake Gonzalez
just tweak vsts or something until you understand it. subtractive synthesis is not that complicated
Jackson James
I'd like syntorial more for the practice and to improve my hearing skills when I remake sounds. I kinda know theory, but still suck. I don't know if there is anything similar out there, though.
Grayson Rivera
This is a cool synth but the envelope reset issue is enormous. Recording pads and any long-release patches is essentially a no-go without multitracking. Every time you hit a key the EG resets for the entire sound. Would be a deal breaker if it wasn't so cheap. All of that said, it sounds great otherwise and the sequencer is a joy to play with, very inspiring
Jacob Campbell
Can anyone help me out with this? I have 4 synths and an 18i20 and would like to integrate my guitar pedals into the chain without always unhooking everything. I was looking at patch bays but I'm kind of confused how I'd hook everything up to my 18i20. A lot of the cheaper patch bays are just 1/4in jacks without toggles or anything to switch to stereo/mono. With my 18i20 I can use software to do it I suppose.

Noob here. I'm trying to connect my electronic drums to my laptop via MIDI. My trigger module has a midi out and I have an audio interface with no midi in. How do I go about this?
Full-time, paid up music making ƒam in the thread for 10mins to help you out (probs for the last time because Sup Forums is worse than dog shit).
Questions?
Chase Howard
go to reddit you fucking faggot
Henry Mitchell
I made two short one minute clips
clyp.it/pbh3vcm5 I found a really nice breakbeat online (out of "Scorpio" by Dennis Coffery) and i wanted to use it.
clyp.it/0away3ht This one was me experimenting with musical modes
What do you think?
Liam Jones
by getting a midi interface
Landon Foster
My daughter started using Lmms and started making some song following youtube tutorials. I only noticed after she asked to borrow a mic from me.
Are there any soundpacks or plugins I should get her?
I used to make d&b beats on my Atari ST back in the day myself.
Dominic Clark
woah dood ur so cool dood ur such a chan enthoosiast

tell me the production secrets the joos told u after u did the sacrifice ritual

Is it possible to build a vintage synth just by collecting parts?
Luke Clark
I am extremely gifted musically and I still think all my stuff sounds like shit. You need to get other MUSICIANS (not listeners) to give you feedback. When someone who knows what they're doing gives you positive feedback is when you'll get some confidence. >SoundCloud threads
Grayson Green
youre exactly like my friend, except my friend thought his musical skills would directly translate into his tracks sounding good.
please dont do that.

Keep in mind the blofeld is heaaavy on the fucking menus. I own a blofeld, a moog sub 37, a korg electribe, and a juno 106 and the blofeld is rarely used because of how much effort it is to patch.
Lucas Richardson
I own 10000+ samples I own a midi mixer,keyboard,drum pad
Wyatt Wood
also been re-sampling for the past 4 years
Also know how to create my own patches on synthesizers too
Jaxon Gomez
That's cool, but you probably know how nice it is to have some immediacy with a synth like a juno 106 versus a menu heavy one.
Justin Campbell
>hear commercial >background music uses stock FL Studio kick
Isaiah Thomas
damn straight gonna buy refx nexus next month with new laptop >new laptop broke lost like 200 bucks worth of samples
Alexander Campbell
thas rite cry white boi
Josiah Torres
Ouch. I don't really get into sampling much other than my own gear, but I know I'd be upset as hell if I lost my own. Even more so if I lost some of the patches I've been working on on my moog. Sub 37 is like babbies first modular but without the cables since you can route your LFOs to damn near everything on the synth.
Lucas Rodriguez
I have the rackmount version of the ESQ-1. I like its hybrid digital/analog sound. It has an architecture similar to the way more recent DSI Prophet 12 in that it has digital oscillators but an analog signal path after that. So it has 8 voices polyphony, 3 digital oscillators per voice, 32 digital waveforms on each oscillator, and analog Curtis chip filters and VCAs. Its features are deep but you're gonna have to menu dive to program it although its display screen is somewhat larger than other digital synths of the era.

How good is Arturia's V collection? In particular the model D emulation? Fuck paying 3500 for one.
