VIDYAKINO RISES

Jake Gyllenhaal Will Star In and Produce Ubisoft's The Division Film

>Jake Gyllenhaal is back in the video game movie business. After attempting to launch a franchise with Prince of Persia, Gyllenhaal is attached to The Division, the newest title in the Tom Clancy family of videogames that Ubisoft has produced. The game is Ubisoft's fastest-selling title, and likely to launch a franchise all its own.

>Variety reported the deal, looking for Gyllenhaal to both star in and produce the movie, though they note the film doesn't yet have a writer or director, nor a studio - Ubisoft plans to sign another player or two into the equation before shopping it to studios.

>Michael Fassbender's Assassin's Creed
>Tom Hardy's Splinter Cell
>Jake Gyllenhaal's The Division
Can Ubisoft save vidyakino?

>movie about shittier third person Destiny
Why.

>the big guy will now be working for the CIA
Is this some kind of pottery?

Ubisoft is trying really hard to be the Marvel of video game movies, but they don't have enough properties that people care about to make more than one or two. Isn't there a Watch_Dogs movie in development too?

God fucking damnit Jake. You're a way better actor than this.

watch dogs could easily work, just look at Mr.Robot

Ubisoft is probably looking for him because he starred in Prince of Persia and it did decently.

he loves doing different shit and hollywood is full of capeshit so its either dive in that or keep doing oddball movies.

I mean besides Jarhead, thats really only military type shit he has done.

UBISOFTKINO

>Division movie
>Jake gyllenhaal places mobile cover near a wall and phases through it

Only way I would enjoy it

is it going to be two hours of jake grinding to get gear

>still no Shadow of the Colossus movie
>still no Bioshock movie
>still no Hotline Miami movie
>no Rocket League movie being made in the style of Rollerball and Mad Max
>no Diablo movie

UPLAYKINO

The concept always seemed better fit to a film anyway, I think this will be the first real vidyakino

Well at least they are getting good actors to star in their video game films.

i gotchu faM

He was awesome in Jarhead.

I liked that one where he goes into the past but he's like a fucked up body. That was kind of mil-light.

I enjoy the division's new DZ. Cuttin niggas cords and getting phat loot. You see another group and the only time people are not getting laid out is if there is nothing contestable. The shittalking between groups even during fights, all good.

All those sound like they'd be unfeasible or at least a bit rubbish

>no Rocket League movie being made in the style of Rollerball and Mad Max

Except this

why make movies based on games that did shit?

That sounds like Source Code. Jake always has a good eye for scripts.

'Demolition' was pretty fucking good, too.

Hello friend, what about ROBO JOCKS?!

Yeah Source Code, that movie I liked. The girl in that is unf, she was in The Departed too.

>The Division Film
Could actually be cool. I still resent them for turning a potentially interesting single player concept into shiny Skinner box MMO with input lag.

He does. I jsut dont want him doing vidya movies. Its my same approach to Fassbender and vidya.

Mr Robot is infinitely better than that piece of shit

Everyone wants to be vidyashit's RDJ.

Yeah I've been thinking about the Rocket League thing for a few months tbqh. Feels like something that could be really cool.

>turns down numerous capeshit offers
>but signs up for vidyashit

D R O P P E D

That's fine, it could easily work. I like Jake Gyllenhaal.

Don't underestimate based Jake. He's been in multiple movies that should have been shit but turned out notsobad

>not murdering bullet king, then going back in time and doing it again

But in all seriousness, the division would have been a better movie than it was a video game

all the jew genes skipped him and went directly into his sister

videogames make more sense than a fucking ant man riding ants

Hopefully he can get Villeneuve on board like Fassbender did with the Macbeth director

Splinter Cell is about the NSA

Why is he so perfect

nooooo he should be doing alan wake directed by fincher

Strangely enough, I want to see him play the doom guy.

>Ubisoft's The Division Film

>tfw Silent Hill wasn't that bad and left the universe open for better movies based on SH2, SH3 or SH4. Then Silent Hill Revelation was so awful it trashed the franchise forever with no survivors.
>tfw Ace Attorney was prime vidyakino and will never be acknowledged or get a sequel
>tfw no Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva sequel

>wasting a good actor on a Division film

Great.

Have you played he game? It's about the NSA

>Kino movement started in Montreal in 99
>Ubisoft major studio also in Montreal

It's like they're meant for each other

>The world's most boring video game story gets a movie adaptation.
BOO!

Can't wait to see him farming Bosses for purple drops

>All those ethnicities
Might as well call him a European runt.

Even though the game might been garbage the universe it established might make for an ok movie

>to launch a franchise with Prince of Persia,
I only watched it for Gemma

>European
not anymore

>The game is Ubisoft's fastest-dying title

Father:
English, Swedish, Swiss-german, German, Welsh
Mother:
>Mongrel

Gameplay and longevity wise, the Division sucked. But the atmosphere and potential for story telling was fucking amazing.

>Can Ubisoft save vidyakino?
Ubisoft can barely make competent games.

Ace Attorney was from Takashi Miike right? Still need to watch that one

If youve seen the short they made to market the game, which is fuckin cool - the movie should be great, it cant be worse than the game. 1 fun-ish play through thats 50% fetch quests and no end game added until recently.,

Yep. And he did another movie based on Yakuza Souls too.

Sounds good senpaitachi

Prince of Persia was not that bad, so maybe
