FLAC

how much of your music library is FLAC?

100% because I'm not retarded.

When I have the option for it, So like 5 percent.

you realize flac is a meme, right?

40ish%

0% because I'm not retarded.

About 20% because my only FLAC is CD Rips

i download flac and then convert it to 320 mp3 and then delete the flac files just to make sure i'm not downloading a poorly transcoded mp3

am i autistic

a tool bootleg and iron maiden's debut

am too poor to afford better cans to hear a difference

what kind of moron would waste space with fucking flacs

on ath-m50s at least there is no discernable difference between 320 and flac, maybe if you've spent grands and grands on a ridiculous setup but otherwise fuck off

storage is dirt cheap, m8

All of it except for a few songs like "DEVELOPERS" or "Ding Ding Dong Song"

So youtube meme shit from 2010.

How are you converting it?

0% because 320 sounds the same but is smaller

same

I think my copy of eccojams is a flac rip cause it was the first cassette rip I found but other than that none of it.

0% because I don't think I can tell the difference

maybe you can, but it's not worth the hassle for me

This is the equivalent of buying CDs and ripping them to MP3. Not bad at all. I choose V0 instead on 320 though.

>not atleast having your favourite albums in FLAC

I basically do this I have too much music and I never found the filesize/quality ratio to be worth it, at least with my headphones.

if I have an extremely rare album or a CD that nobody else has ripped, then I usually keep flac just for archival purposes.

Apparently 14% of my songs are flac.

probably around 6-8%, all of my Talking Heads is FLAC and so is The Smile Sessions but everything else is MP3

The vast majority of stuff that goes under "classical" and "jazz" are FLAC. Then there's some electronic and experimental stuff that's FLAC as well. Basically anything that I take actual time out of my life to listen to on its own. All the other stuff is in MP3 format so I can put it on my phone and listen while I am doing other stuff.

there's a lot of middle ground between m50s and spending thousands. storage is cheap so it makes sense to archive in flac in case you upgrade

on my computer, it's all flac. converted down to 256kbps ogg for my phone.

you realize .flac is for archival purposes and it allows you to conveniently convert files to various formats to put on your listening devices right?
>"things that I am ignorant about are memes, because I do not understand them"
-You

4779 flac
7540 mp3
12 wav
1710 m4a
273 ogg

One file format is fine though, why do I need anything other than v0?

>"_I_ don't need to use it, therefore it's useless!"
wew lad

The post you're replying to (my only) never said it's useless

>tfw used to have an entire collection of music made out of .flac files
>someday i realised my collection was pointless because i don't have a $1000+ audio installation
>switched to spotify

the story of how i fell for a meme ladies and gentlemen

24.1% out of 128GB

are you fucking retarded

there was literally no difference in audio quality

ask yourself if you are user

0% because all I need in life is 320 Kbps

>the only difference between downloading and streaming is audio quality

spotify is useful for listening stuff on the move without having to prepare beforehand

what you want

0% because the 256 kbps with apple music is enough for me!

I wish I had more music on flac. I was too naive and shortsighted. Now most of it is mp3s when I could have just converted it all to vorbis or left it on flac altogether.

Nearly all of it.

>without having to prepare beforehand
What's the issue getting a nice SD card and sticking literally thousands of music files on it
shit my phone had like 2000 songs on it and they were all in FLAC, if I converted that shit I probably could've fit 3000 more

You say things like this because you don't understand the nature of audio files. FLAC uses lossless compression, while MP3 is 'lossy'. What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA - it's about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.

I started collecting MP3s in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 320kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange…well don’t get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren’t stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you’ll be glad you did.

All you plebs probably use these tb h

that is a really good point.

my txt file saved in 2001 has become 1 sentence shorter (total of 10 sentences).
I always wonder why this happens... thank you for this info

foobar

I found who just got their first pair of headphones

this never gets old

I just want everyone on here to know that I convert 128kbps music to flac and share it over soulseek and various torrents

two of my favorite albums, nothing else.

I only listen to music on vinyl and 4-track reel to reel. Anything less is disgusting.

I collect CDs so I don't bother with flac since it's only really useful for archival purposes.

Doing God's work.

learn about the formats and what their meant for. Half you idiots probably get your music from shit quality uploaders and wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway.

All of it

Literally 0%.

I have a zipped FLAC archive for everything. My day to day music is 192-320kbps MP3. Mostly VBR. I'd say only 5% is actually 192kbps though. Most is 320kbps. Medium amount is 256kbps. And I'd say 10% for everyday listening is .flac

And another 5% is .cda

99% of what i listen to, because fuck it, why not? storage is cheap.

only things that aren't flac are old demos and shit that can't be found on flac or cd

People like you are why I only ever listen to physical copies of albums I purchase legally.

100% because I'm not a poorfag and I can afford storage.

never underestimate pissed off deaf folks

What are you doing on Sup Forums if you're deaf?

converting 128kbps to FLAC
