The Mad Manx Manlet

accurate post

>"Marginal gains"

At its broadest:
Huge amounts of funding and a dedication to only two things: Olympic medals and a British winner of the Tour de France. All other objectives barely register.

Consider last year at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, the British team "underperformed" by any measure, yet no one was fired, the organization didn't have a shake-up. For the British, unlike the Germans, the French, and the Italians, the Worlds are basically irrelevant, only the Olympics matters.

On the road, it's the same thing. The other races are just warm-ups, precursors, or cherries on the top of a season, but the only real goal is a British winner of the Tour. That single-mindedness extends beyond nationality. Team Sky is not a majority British team anymore, since Sky doesn't care about Nr. 2-9 on the team, just a British Nr. 1.

HGH, Trenbolone, Sarms, Clenbuterol, Testosterone, Winstrol, EPO, blood transfusions, diuretics.

Don't forget doping and undetectable tiny engines

So, just like how Lance and USPS focused only on winning the TdF?

To train in British sports requires expensive equipment like cycling and rowing machines - non of which 3rd worlders can afford

Grow up. British Cycling doesn't dope. They have a clear and obvious zero-tolerance policy towards cheating. They fire anyone who even has a whiff of dope in their history.

This success is the combination of the best technology with the best training methodology. Doping is something you rely on when you don't have those things.

What does that show?

Probably just funding and focus like all Olympic events.

Every UCI tour team only cares about having their lead GC rider (or spirit rider if you're a meme team like Tikoff) do well at the Grand Tours, which means the teams just work for one rider, the rest is just sponsorship

it's quite clear

patently incorrect. Smaller teams look to get stage wins, wear jerseys, get in breakaways, get intermediate sprint and mountain prizes.

They show up with a team that has a GC contender, maybe one or two lieutenants, then a couple climbers, a couple breakaway specialists, etc.

This description comes from Froome directly.

Sky shows up with Froome and eight lieutenants who protect him and keep the peloton's pace so high no one else can attack.

>"Marginal gains"

They attempt to murder anyone who tries to compete with them on the track

you don't have as many niggers to steal your bikes

This. Skellington even said he wouldn't be able to win on a smaller team and would have to satisfy himself with smaller goals.

>britbikes

dont forget teams who cant make up their minds

>aru and nibbles
>no more excuses and ritchie "still helping vroome" port

same thing that makes Froom froom so good.

>only 4 golds at cycling
>meanwhile ameriswims have 16 golds in swimming

yeah... we don't need cycling to do well

Sean yates.

Alarming amount of British cyclists diagnosed with "asthma" altering them to use clenbuterol, albuterol etc (allowing riders to maintain muscle quality with low body fat...... note froome et.al with 3% body fat)

stay mad rest of the world

>Smaller teams look to get stage wins, wear jerseys, get in breakaways
Sponsorship, breakaways are literally just so smaller teams can have airtime

>get intermediate sprint and mountain prizes.
Meme prizes, mountain points usually go to the GC guy anyway

Correct. This is why most people fucking despise Sky.

It's cold and raining outside

How did Sean Yates get just a 4 month ban?

we look like we're going to win 7 golds and 4 silvers and thats a bit disappointing desu cav and becky james blew it a little, 9 golds was on

>cav
Cav was never going to win.

elimination is literally his best event and he completely fucked it up, if he'd won it gold was his

>ireland
only olympic medal winning countries allowed in this discussion boyo

Honestly I thought sky treated him poorly. He was instrumental in Wiggins winning his tour and he was quietly shunted out the back door.......because kimmage said yates showed him how to inject testosterone

dunno about that m8 he eliminated that korean bloke alright

lmfas this is why

Mark "i'll capsize the sideways eyes" Cavendish

Lads, hearing rumors that Cav may be DNF for the chinkill?

you're a retard, he's had the medal ceremony already, they'd have dsqed him during the race

absolute madman

Top tier doping and actual good work plans.

He was in the way

the bikes

they really should issue a common bike, same for rowing. too much R&D

is this legal?

would be pretty dope if it is, that was brutal

plz no bully, honest question.

cant the Korean or 4th place appeal after the medal ceremony?

only if the 4th place is brazilian

the manx missile strikes again

Would make it easier for smaller teams to compete. I would support this.

The contact was wheel-to-wheel, therefore it's a perfectly legal tackle.

it isn't the 90s anymore nigga. Only 3rd world paupers do EPO these days

the korean is dead so i doubt he'll be doing much, but also yes they probably can lodge some sort of appeal but theres no way they'll decide not to even warn him during the race and then retroactively dsq him on appeal, so i doubt anything more will be said about it

Speaking in real terms he probably deserved a warning, dsq would have been really harsh for what was, jokes aside, an accident

Clear or undetectable?

Mark "Hong Son Wong? Won't live long" Cavendish
Mark "From South of the border? They should have warned ya" Cavendish
Mark "Take the inside , you'll go for a slide " Cavendish
Mark 'The bi-pola rolla' Cavendish
Mark 'Not from Korea? You've nothing to fear' Cavendish

EPO is still alive and well. Microdosing, homie.

The "Marginal gain" is taking every drug out there in small enough doses to where they never trigger the test. You don't get much benefit from any single drug, but the effects add up.

Now THAT'S what I call "marginal gains"

They "microdose" epo via intravenous injections. Not as effective as subcutaneous injections.....but it gives "Marginal gains"

>Marginal gains

That's the 2012 term. This year, the motto is "Peaking".

How do you go from dominating in 2012, to spending four years looking like you can barely ride a bike without training wheels, to dominating again in 2016?

Peaking. That's how.

Yep. And I'd say that Mark "Have 3 names, go down in flames" Cavendish was definitely "Peaking" here

Mark "Gooks, Slants and Slopes, get out of my spokes" Cavendish

>that cheeky look

Mark "sweet n sour bitches are gonna need stiches" Cavendish

>because kimmage said yates showed him how to inject testosterone

I didn't hear about this. When was this?

mark "one man clan from the isle of man" cavendish

>britcycles

>ameriswims

Mark "Seoul I heard you like pain; consequences will never be the same" Cavendish

Comes from "periodization" a concept formed by joe friel in his triathlon/TT training bibles

Kimmage's book "rough ride" and James whites book "bad blood". After Armstrong admitted to doping sky became less tolerant of former dopers. Their hand was forced by public relations concerns... not morals or ethics.

80's btw

...

Oh, shit. You're right. I typed "Sean". I meant to type "Simon".

Simon Yates was the one who got the four month ban for an asthma drug.
