He's unique. He's a special effects and music guy who can't direct actors or make compelling scenes. Pretty good overall as a director, it all just works somehow even though the performances are all terrible and it doesn't seem like he knows how to direct.

Not a bad director. He made The Thing, In the mouth of madness and They Live. All great movies... All of which put me to sleep without fail. It's his droning music that hurts his films.
