Not insightful

Just really hard to watch

youtube.com/watch?v=o-xMkHgan0Y

I've honestly never found this shit funny

It's one thing to fuck with an adult reporter who's asking cynical, dickish questions, but fucking with a kid like that just shows what a loser you are imo. Yeah I know Rollins is a "tough guy" but he sure doesn't show it here.

i could watch that interview on a loop

that little snot nosed brat getting put in his place by the god himself

>HIYA DOGFACE

heres a better one

>A couple of days and a harrowing plane flight later, the band [Soundgarden] makes it to a resort town called Surfer’s Paradise, which is more or less the Miami Beach of Australia, a skinny coastal town about an hour south of Brisbane, pounded by waves and plagued with jellyfish, crowded with high-rise hotels popular with Japanese honeymooners. Surfer’s Paradise is the jumping-off point for the Big Day Out tour, a sort of Australian Lollapalooza that Soundgarden will headline this year. In the lobby bar of one of the tallest hotels, Cornell and Thayil are settling back with a couple of beers when Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins wanders through, and decides to join them for a strawberry margarita. Corgan chatters about the pain of his life, the supposed incompetence of his band (everybody rolls their eyes), the lifesaving virtues of Jungian therapy, bands that suck. Cornell gets up to leave. Corgan tells Thayil how important Soundgarden used to be to him, and he baits him by saying that the Pumpkins sometimes do a cover of Soundgarden’s “Outshined” that segues into a Depeche Mode song or something.

see this i'm fine with

its fine to shit on an adult

> “I’m thinking of making my next album really new wave,” Corgan says, “like ’83-’84 new wave, not like Berlin. I spend all my time doing things that may be a bit tangential, but I think I’m going to go back to the core, the heart music. Echo and the Bunnymen.”
>>“Don’t you see,” Thayil says, “you’re this incredibly talented guy. People like your music. You have a good band. You sell a lot of records. You don’t need all this…stuff.”
>“What sign are you?” Corgan asks.
>>“What do you mean, what sign am I?” Thayil says. “What difference could that possibly make?”
>“C’mon,” wheedles Corgan, “when is your birthday?”
>>“All right, goddamn it: September 4th.”
>“Aha!” Corgan says. “A Virgo. You’re argumentative.”
>>“Damn right, I’m argumentative,” Thayil says, and takes a long, angry pulll at his beer, “which you should know because I’ve been arguing with you for half an hour, not because of any sign.”
>“I’m a Pisces,” Corgan replies. “We pick up on those things.”
>A minute later, Corgan, still probing, finally finds the key to Thayil’s heart: “I hate how in magazine pictures, they always stick me somewhere in the back.”
>>Thayil explodes: “What do you mean? You write all the songs, and you do all the interviews. You play the instruments on the album. You control the band to the extent that most people think of Smashing Pumpkins as the Billy Corgan Experience, and all you care about is some photograph?”
>“But I hate it,” Corgan says, “it means they don’t think I’m the cute one.”
>>“Ooh,” Thayil says a little too loudly as Corgan walks away, “I’ll bet he’s going to call his therapist in Chicago, wake her up at four in the morning, and tell her about that big, mean bear who made fun of him.”

I'm honestly in the middle.

The kid is a genuine idiot poser who can't take any form of hint, but Hank really doesn't need to be this level of prick.

There are several times where Hank is temporarily distracted by an actual topic that, if the kid was intelligent and capitalized on it, would save the interview. But he doesn't, and that makes Henry even angrier, which intensifies the bullying.

If he knew any goddamn thing at all and had a fraction of a spine, it wouldn't have gone this way. Hank would've taken the piss out of him, but on a much lower level than he did.

>The next day at the Big Day Out festival, Thayil is talking to Kim and Kelley Deal in the Breeders’ dressing room when Corgan walks past wearing a long-sleeved Superman T-shirt like the one your four-year-old nephew probably owns.
>“You hurt me deeply,” Corgan says, touching the giant S on his chest and pouting. “You hurt me deeply in my heart.”
>The Pumpkins go on to play the best set anybody has ever heard them play, their usual passiveness and precision overlaid with an unfamiliar scrim of anger that throws their music into brilliant relief.

Who was in the wrong here?

Corgan
Always Corgan

...

speaking of insightful interviews and billy corgan...

Young Henry reminds me of my old heroin addicted foster brother.

The kid in the Henry Rollins interview was a fucking idiot. He had a multicolored rat tail for fucks sake and said "Why didn't you guys play TV Party?"

There's no better way to piss off an artist than to ask them why they didn't play a certain song.

Aside from that, the kid doesn't use his head and spends the entire interview trying to tell Henry what he thinks Henry wants to hear (even though it's the exact opposite).

youtube.com/watch?v=Tn7ai7Xyj1w

for a dude that was so fond of nazi and confederate imagery and paraphernalia, his social ideologies are spot-on. what a great guy

I'm curious what 2017 Henry would say about that interview

He's mellowed out a lot

+ the unquestionable best motorhead interview
youtube.com/watch?v=roXxUqRmhfU

Goddamn, that was edgy

And yet he's effectively still the same person.

youtube.com/watch?v=ddOeLCD-Iuo

youtube.com/watch?v=0FG509-sQ9U

He's a kid who was abused and desperately searches for male acceptance while simultaneously intensely fears any male as a sort of aggressor and therefore he both lashes out and denigrates himself in order to have the highest upper hand he can imagine (being both worthless and facing another worthless piece of shit).

Given Hank's politesse in the video where he's with like a middle eastern journalist in a record store, he hasn't grown out of his serious personality defects.

I'm not surprised his longest relationship was like six months.

There is literally nothing wrong with collecting Nazi or Confederate memorabilia, especially for a British bloke.

The shit is cool, it looks cool, there's no debating that from a purely aesthetic perspective.

If you don't have AT LEAST four Hitler Youth daggers in your house, you're a fucking puss.

>youtube.com/watch?v=QZvshlMt8Wo

Healthy young man joins a noise band, creates unique sounds dictated from an ideological platform, doesn't feel to good and changes - AUTISM. Many such cases!

>"But I hate it,” Corgan says, “it means they don’t
think I’m the cute one.”

every time

i don't want to hear about your horrible family

> we let the kkk walk through our streets
> real tolerance
Okay Billy

>"Your kids are gonna be my kids"

GG Kony

wasn't trying to imply there was anything wrong with it, i'm totally in agreement that nazis / confederates had the fucking coolest stuff.
it was more pointing out how much of a funny and heartwarming juxtaposition it is with this biker guy sitting in front of a nazi flag giving this black kid life advice on how to deal with internalized racism

he was truly too good for this world

Ah I get you bruv.

Was always shocked to remember he was alive, now I'm shocked he's gone.

RIP in peace, kill master.
