Your Dream Band

You are given the opportunity to recruit any five people ever, to create your dream band. If they died, they are now living. One condition:
>must be an original band, of members who have never been together
>so basically no recreating oldies (e.x. The Beatles)
GO!

John Bonham
Jimi Hendrix
Prince
John Entwistle
Grimes

>Vocals - Steve Perry
>Guitar - Adrian Smith
>Keyboards - Kevin Moore
>Bass - Jun Izawa
>Drums - Thomas Lang

Freddie Mercury - vocals
Jimmie Page - guitar
Flea - bass
Dave Grohl - drums

>Lou Reed and his original guitar/style
>Robert Fripp
Somebody add to this please

>feat. MC Ride on the mic

>Thom Yorke
>Richard D James(let's pretend Richard likes Radiohead now)
>Aaron Funk
>Panda Bear

>the hip
>Neil Young
>Blue Rodeo

Who's the Canuck that made this shit?

Isaac Brock
Tom Waits
John Squire
John Entwistle
Stewart Copeland

let the band have two drummers for the memes Britt Walford and Zach Hill

Neil Diamond featuring The Flaming Lips doing a covers album of tunes from the musical Cats

Chris Cornell- Lead vocals, rhythm guitar
John Frusciante- Lead guitar/rhythm guitar, backing vocals
Mark Sandman- Bass, backing vocals
Danny Carey- Drums
Trent Reznor- Keyboards/Synths

Normally bands that go over 4 members are retarded, but I'll make an exception to keep Trent in.

Vocalist: Nico
Guitar: Micheal Rother
Bass: Chris Squire
Keyboards: Me because Rick Wakemen is disallowed
Drums/Vocals: Panda Bear because Burford, Dinger, the Can drummer I can't spell and Maureen Tucker are all disallowed

Britt Walford (Drums)
Tim Kinsella (Vocals / Guitar)
Geologist (Samples / Synth shit)
Vern Rumsey (Bass)

I'm imagining some kind of unholy post-rock / post-hardcore / krautrock hybrid

>Elliot Smith
>Nick Drake
>Ian Curtis
>Kurt Cobain
>Jimi Hendrix
>The Drummer from Led Zeppelin

This won't end well

Someone write about being a fly on the wall during their first and final rehearsal.

SERJ FUCKING TANKIAN
WES BORLAND
FIELDY FROM KORN
JOEY FUCKING JORDISON

>Jimi and Prince dual frontmen and guitarists

not sure if this would be sacrilege or GOAT

Jeff Buckley - vocals, guitar
Mikael Akerfeldt - lead guitar
Bill Bruford - Drums
John Entwhistle - Bass
Brian Eno - keyboards, synths

would have gone with fripp on lead if bruford hadn't joined King Crimson

Who would be the first one to die?

David Bowie - lead vocals, multi-instrumental
Jonny Greenwood - lead guitar, multi-instrumental
Johnny Marr - rhythm guitar/lead guitar
Flea - bass, back-up vocals
Neil Peart - drums, percussion

The rehearsal starts with Bonzo already passed out, face up, threatening to choke on his own vomit.

Cobain and Smith attempt to score some dope and search for the closest black guy (Hendrix). Jeff Buckley side steps Bonzo's deep breathing body and hops into the pool for an evening dip.

Curtis is seen eyeing lengths of rope.

Prince x5

>buckley hops into the pool
Too far, man.

Don Van Vliet/Captain Beefheart - Vocals, Harmonica, Brass, Woodwinds

John Williams (the classical guitarist not the Star Wars composer) - Guitar (w/ MIDI pick ups)

Toshimaru Nakamura (one of the guys who did that meme onkyo album everyone has seen here a bunch of times) - Guitar, mixing consoles/loudspeaker/radio/whatever else electroacoustic and onkyo musicians use

Rob Brown (member of Autechre) - Computers, decks, mixing console

Sean Booth (member of Autechre) - Computers, decks, mixing console

Beefheart/Williams do the main stuff that the listener follows while Autechre does all the rhythm section and background bits while Nakamura's manipulating what everyone else is playing and sometimes supplementing Williams' playing.

>Beefheart
>Autechre
Madness in music form

>Flea- back-up vocals

He's a fantastic bass player, but even he knows he can't for shit.

Nick Reinhart on guitar & vocals
Les Claypool on Bass & spoken word/shouts
Danny Carry on drums
Kevin Shields on rhythm guitar/textures & vocals
Jamie Stewart on electronics & vocals

Michael Gira
>Songwriter, acoustic guitar, vocals
Tom Waits
>songwriter, Acoustic guitar, Vocals
Stephen O'Malley
>Guitar Drone
Zach Hill
>Drums
Bill Burford
>Drums

>so basically no recreating oldies (e.x. The Beatles)
but the rolling stones are my dream band. literally the goat

Steve Albini - Guitar, Vocals
Brian Chippendale - Drums, Vocals
Zach Hill - Drums
JG Thirlwell - Programming, Keys, Vocals, Sampling
Whoever the bassist from Black Eyes is - Bass

scatman john on the vocals

the dudes from captain beefheart's magic band on the instruments

Will "Burial" Bevan
Robert "3D" Del Naja
Richard "Aphex Twin" D. James
Joel "deadmau5" Zimmerman
Trent "NIN" Reznor

Probably a disaster seeing as everyone would be a huge control freak but it'd probably sound beautiful and spooky and edgy. Get Trent and 3D to do vocals, and everything could be done in analog unless Will wants to sample stuff.

im trying to think of people who would actually write good music together, not just musicians i like

alden penner - vox, bass
will toledo - guitar, vox
dan haggis - drums
patrick moraz - synths
r. stevie moore - whatever he really feels like doing

Jason Aldean
Donald Fagen
Robert Fripp
Yu Suzuki

this is probably better than my idea for Beefheart where I just make a new magic band lineup with a new/no wave-ish aesthetic like:
Fred Frith - guitar
Eno - keyboards, synth, production
George Scott - bass
dunno who I'd want on drums though

>Joe Strummer - songwriting, vocals, rhythm guitar
>Paul McCartney - songwriting, vocals, bass guitar, keys, general multi-instrumentalist
>Syd Barrett - songwriting, vocals, lead guitar
>Mike Garson - keys
>Keith Moon - drums

Trick is to have a few great songwriters. Most truly brilliant rock bands have more than one. I chose those 3 because their songwriting styles are so vastly different from another that it would add huge versatility and diversity to the band's discography.

>must be an original band, of members who have never been together

>dunno who I'd want on drums though

copeland. drummer, multi-instrumentalist and composer all bundled into one. plus he's a chill guy.

Drums: John Bonham
Lead: Eric Clapton
Rhythm: John Mayer
Bass: Victor Wooten
Singer: John Mayer / Eric Clapton

Band would be fucking lit.

Bob Dylan
Ringo Starr
Slash
John Paul Jones

In classic Dylan style, all songs are recorded by ear, and written by John Lennon.

>Vocals - Tobias Forge
>Drums - Brooks Wackerman
>Lead Guitar - Eric Clapton
>Rhythm Guitar - Albert Hammond Jr.
>Bass - Chris Wolstenholme

Not far off with Clapton and Mayer jamming all the time. Wonder if they've ever spoken to Wooten.

his drumming style would actually be pretty interesting with this lineup, good suggestion

I don't think that they would get into any serious talks of starting a project, but all of these artists in their prime would be very interesting to see. Eric Clapton would be the chief song-writer and creative director obviously.

openly bias as a police fan but I think he's underrated despite already being a legend

immaculate timing even wildly off beat. could easily fit into any band

FKA twigs, Grimes, Flatlander, Iglooghost and Clarence Clarity working together would be nice...I think.

Actually, scratch Flatlander and Grimes. Not a good combination.

Just twigs, Iglooghost and CC will do.

FKA twigs, Iglooghost, Clarence Clarity, SOPHIE and that drummer guy from Braids.
