Any of you bagets seen Hard to be a God? I have and I thought it was sick shit. Philosophy teaches us that if God doesn't then I am a God. The main character represents us (obviously) and our struggles against the ignorance of the outside world. This is because everyone thinks they have some enlightened understanding of the world whilst everyone around them is an idiot (or maybe I'm juts projecting/exaggerating?). In the end he gives in to his urge to punish, instead of being omnibenevolent It had fucking amazing special effects, lighting and cinematography. However the dialogue was confusing I found myself missing certain parts but enjoying other parts). The characters behaved weirdly but I chalked this up to different social norms and saw it as a benefit of the film. The story was hard to follow, but I think it ads to the charm. I didn't know who certain characters were, which is bad. Anyone it drew me into the screen and I couldn't escape nd I cant really remember much about sound except when the main character plays that instrument which sounds fucking beautiful. Also it was really gross but I fucking loved that shit. It also had me in tears how nice the main character was to everyone despite how they behaved.
Anyway would recommend, fucking fantastic, masterpiece more people should see discuss

wow man its like my opinion and u just called it shit. go fuck urself lazy biatch. jk
Jason Mitchell
i read it actually. And i agree with what you said, his compassion is very touching. The grittiness (especially when the camera has some closeups of the locals) really made this film stand out when I first watched it. Been meaning to give it a second watch. It's the only film which has come out in the past few years which I can think of having this type of style.

Nope, Hard to be a God is better imo, but both have their own, exclusive merits

>if God doesn't then I am a God I thought that he "compared" himself to a God simple because he fit the low standarts for God among locals, like he could do or arrange what locals would consider as demonstration of God's powers. >The main character represents us To me it's local shitters who represent us, fits better i think. >when the camera has some closeups of the locals It's actually locals litteraly staring at the camera - those diademas with huge as fuck diamonds in them are actually cameras transmitting to the orbital station. All Earth people had them.

It took me about 2 hours to realize this wasn't a documentary about current Russian rural life.

It's a Strugatskis adaptation right? Which one are you talking about, the 1989 or 2013 version? Why are they so lowly rated on IMDB?
Tyler Ross
Because IMDB is filled with plebs

>1989 or 2013 2013 >Why are they so lowly rated on IMDB Because every 6 year old can vote?

The book is great, though movie is literally shit. Only video games have successfully adapted Strugatsky's work (Tark blows).
Jack Rivera
Uh oh, pleb alert. Mind explaining what about the movie turned you off?
Jaxson Ramirez
I could not stand the cinematic style. I get what he was trying to do, creating a sense of claustrophobia, or violating one's personal space, but I was just not down with shit being stuck in the lens in every shot, in every second of the movie. Maybe I'll get back to it, but damn, I needed a break.
Angel Wright
That's fair. But hey, even if you couldn't get into it, at least it was effective, huh?
Parker Jackson
So is porn.

?? What filming technique does porn use to get a desired response from the audience? Aside from the subject being filmed, Hard to be God always had smoke or rain or objects hanging from the ceiling or swords and hands being thrust in front of the camera to add visual intrigue and to create a sense of claustrophobia. Beside perhaps camera angles or lighting, porn doesn't use anything for effect in the technical sense I was talking about

Have you seen blacked videos?
Jackson Jenkins
I'm the person you were actually responding to. I think he could have been way less relentless with it and still achieved the same effect.
Andrew Sanders
I've seen the first 45 minutes of it and just couldn't take it anymore. I'll admit that the sets are amazing and the filmmaker was very dedicated in creating the world, but it just felt like the same shit being dragged on forever. I get it. They are dirty and ignorant. Now can we please get to the point? I probably would have stuck with it if the movie was significantly shorter, but despite being visually appealing, I can't sit through three hours of nothing but people acting dumb and flinging mud and shit around just for the sake of it.
