Hey, Sup Forums. I've been studying French for the past two months or so and I'd like to know whether you guys could rec me some songs and albums with lyrics in French so that I may facilitate my learning. I'll listen to pretty much anything you send. Thanks in advance!

Reminder that Le Pen will win
Camille's le sac des filles, le fil and ilo veyou are great albums (some tracks are in english though from memory)
well she sure as hell can't be condemned
You'll get lost in this album
Air
Serge Gainsbourg - ballade of melody Nelson
Sebastian tellier - any of the albums are good, la ritournelle is a great track
Brigitte - oh la la
Melody's echo chamber have some french songs
La femme - time to wake up
La Femme - Mystère is a nice album, especially because the cover has a vagina in it.
I strongly suggest the following authors and songs:
Charles Aznavour:
La Bohème
Que c'est triste Venise
Hier encore
Léo Ferré - Avec le temps (also the version of Dalida)
Serge Reggiani - Ma Liberté
Jacques Brel - La chanson des vieux amants
Alizee' - Moi Lolita
Listen to french Hip Hop too
Klub des Loosers and TTC may be a bit hard but i think listening to hard stuff times to times will make you better at understanding it
also listen to modern electro Pop like The Pirouettes
Georges Brassens, Brigitte Fontaine and Philippe Katerine are all fun as fuck. Brigitte Fontaine even collaborated with Sonic Youth (the result isn't that nice though).

Catherine Ribeiro + Alpes is also great but sadder, Paix and Un jour...la mort are my go-to songs when I think about death.
There is a nice contemporary noise rock label called Mon Cul, not everyone they sign sing in French, but I saw a lot of those bands live and they are basically some of the best of what in terms of alternative music : moncul.bandcamp.com
To conclude, have an obscure meme : youtube.com
some of the best of what we have in terms of alt-music*
>Klub des Loosers and TTC
Stupeflip is also in the same vein.
One of my friends love La Cliqua and Les Sages Poètes de la Rue, which are more like classic hip-hop, but still worth checking out.

Any rec's for traditional folk music from regions within france?
I'm French and I wish I were a German who grew up in Berlin or Hamburg desu.
im from munich.
why? what does you fascinate about germany?
The region where people are the most into traditional music is Brittany, but since they have a very Celtic culture, they sing in a different language and it sounds kinda like Irish music.
Other than that, the only musical tradition that is still pretty alive I'm aware of is from Auvergne. Check out Emmanuelle Parrenin - Maison Rose and Gabriel et Marie Yacoub - Pierre de Grenoble.
A guy named Yann Gourdon have some more experimental projects inspired by that, but you might have a hard time finding mp3s of his stuff.
Some of other regions which might have interesting traditional music are Picardie and Provence, but I can't help you on that.
Germany always had the best European music scene after the UK, from Can and Faust to Alva Noto.
When I visited Hamburg this summer, I was amazed at how much shows they were every night and how cheap alcohol was. Also, seeing tons of friendly people drinking in front of kiosks and just talking with them at random was pretty cool.
I feel like there are more things to do when you love music and like to party there, like going to some small hidden bars playing some nice garage rock and stuff like that.
The only comparable city in France is Lyon, which is pretty awesome, but still, I felt like Hamburg was more alive, and more liberal towards fun stuff.
Don't know about Munich though. No offense but it seems more boring.
Oh shit I love parrenin but I thought that her music was original and not traditional folk?
thanks for the other rec though.

Huge compilation of traditional French folk (10 CDs, 10 regions)
also Véronique Chalot released great albums in the 1970's (as good as Linda Perhacs etc).

Well, it's a mix between original stuff, like Topaze, and traditional stuff, like Belle Viriginie (this song always bring tears in my eyes btw).

Yelle - Completement Fou
Christine and The Queens - Chaluer Humaine
She was searching for real love anons. Back then it was a bit different. It wasn't just about fucking your brains out because that's what's cool. At least I'd imagine for swanky parisians this wasnt the case.
