-- OF Chris Denorfia, who signed a minor league deal with the Giants in June and played with (AAA) Sacramento RiverCats, was released yesterday.
-- Free agent RHP Joe Nathan was signed to a minor league contract. The 41-year old six-time All-Star closer made a nice comeback from Tommy John surgery, hurling two scoreless innings in three outings with the Cubs. He was DFA'd by the Cubs when they couldn't make room for him in the bullpen.
