Your version is very good. Lots of nice Bill Evansy voice leading stuff. Maybe a little bit "busy" overall for my tastes... the only thing I'd really say is to not do so much sudden dynamic shift, the dynamic range is good, but make it more gradual and more meaningful when you want to play something loud. And maybe change up the voicing of the Em7b5 sometimes. Seems like you keep coming back to that same voicing

Do you find the rubato to be a bit too strong? Personally I made it a point to stab myself if I'm going to rubato like Chopin. Many years of playing romantic pieces forms bad habit.
When you mention Bill Evans voicing, are there any particular specific parts whereby you can hear the influence? Because I listen to a shit lot of Evans and I wonder if I'm sort of influenced by him.

Yeah, kind of like the dynamics I think it jumps too much between fast and slow. Have some fast/busy runs in there but work up to them and make them stand out.
Whenever you do those moving left hand lines at the same time as you're doing stuff in the right hand it sounds very Bill Evansy.

Hmm I will keep that in mind user. Thanks for the tip. Gonna work on my voicings more too.

If you don't already, listen to some Fred Hersch. Anybody who likes Bill Evans should enjoy Hersch's playing and he's an absolute master at solo piano.
Jayden Brooks
Yeah I already do listen to him. I like Alan Broadbent as well, and Barry Harris is kind of like a bebop version of Bill Evans.

Afternoon /jazz/. What's everyone got lined-up for this evening? I'm planning on sitting down with some Blue Note records I've skipped from their Vinyl Reissue Series.
