Is he right?

Is he right?

If you play for any other team other than US, yes.

t. Someone who knows they will never win a ring

that's something only a clippers player would say

lucky for him, cuz he's never getting a ring

he knows and and chris paul are never getting a ring so he's already setting a narrative

Well if the measure was in difficulty then obviously not. In terms of prestige, yes.

this desu senpai

Hell no, that's only true for meme/unpopular sports like track and field, where Olympic golds are way better than standard world championships.

For basketball it's way better to win an NBA title. Same with hockey and NHL.

Only exception I can think of is MAYBE soccer where some think world cups are better than club championships or champions league titles, but even then I doubt it

no, lol. he says that because he plays for the clippers, never gets the chance to win a ring

He spends too much time with Melo

if team USA didn't compete in Olympic Basketball it would be extremely competitive.

...

Oh yeah? Well fucking play like you care then, cunt.

manu ginobili has a ring and an olympic gold

soccer?
it's an U-23 team mate

>NBA finals had Lelbron and Curry
>Olympic tournament has no Lelbron or Curry
nope

This.

The US team is considered a failure when they don't bring the gold and the international competition is pretty shit overall even 24 years since The Dream Team. 2004 was a mess behind the scenes and on the floor and the Argies managed to get an golden generation.

NBA ring is a lot more value because you had to beat high level teams that would BFTO teams like Spain and Australia. NBA's parity is so laughable that it makes it hard unless you have a stacked team already. That's why people admire the 2004-5 Pistons team because they defied the odds for being the most cohesive team we seen in the 21 century.

>soccer
Olympic gold is meaningless in soccer, it's not regular u23 (which already has its world cup) but a bastard system nobody gives a shit about.

He said world cup though, not Olympic

No.

Only murricans care about basketball. It's just like how a world championship american football would be worth next to nothing.

>2004-5 Pistons
>the most cohesive team we seen in the 21 century.

You mean 2013-2014 Spurs?

Not really, before they lift the NBA ban, the Americans only lost twice (Munich 1972 is hotly contested and they had been reffballed out of a gold) and they didn't participate at Moscow 1980 due to the boycott.

sry

Clearly not the slightest bit true

You mean the 07 08 celtics

World championt titles hold some weight in a lot of team-based sports, really. if you take football, rugby, handball and some others, it's one of the most sought after achievements for a national team, and the tournament itself is followed closely by clubs as it will help determine the value of players.
Though I understand why it's not easy to see for someone in the USA since the most important sports here pretty much work on a closed, tight schedule and aren't nearly as developped in the rest of the world, which would make international competitions meaningless.

Nope. If you actually watched the 2004-05 Pistons team you would see why. The 2014-15 Spurs is a stacked team with three HOFers shoo-ins and Kawhi, who is slated to be a possible NBA MVP.

The 2004-05 Pistons had talent, they had prime Chauncey Billiups and the Wallaces (Rasheed and Ben) who all are above average players but not necessarily HOF-bound. The team pretty brought in the system and completely understood their roles and fed off each other to beat a stacked Lakers' team.

Clipper mentality

I could understand where he was coming from if he wasn't on Team USA.

I mean't 2013-14 Pistons

Not really, they had KG, Pierce and Jesus Shuttleworth in their primes or at least the backend of it. All HOFers in their right.

>2013-14 Spurs

Ah, fuck it.

I'm talking about how evenly-matched everyone else is if you disconsider team USA.

Fuck no, it's just damage control.

Didn't Spain was competitive against a good US team in 2012?

Is Melo the GOAT basketball player then?

Seriously though fuck LeBron and Curry for not showing up. What kind of faggot passes on the chance to represent his country?

Absolutely not.

Idk about pussyboy curry, but LeBron already got one

Someone who doesn't want to run the risk of getting injured and missing a season for the sake of a trophy that has no value in your sport.

LeBron has entered the old man phase of his career.

Melo is just too dumb to realize he's a grandpa.

The USA team competes for gold, the rest of the world competes for silver.

if he was whitie he would be bullied for the rest of his career just because of that play.

LOL

The moment the US stops winning all the golds it will mean the NBA is dead

Fun fact: Ginobili was the player with the highest amount of NBA rings in last night's game

He also has an Olympic gold and he alwayws says it's more relevant than the NBA rings
