People like to rag on nu metal, and rightfully so.

But all of those shitty bands ripped off KoRn. They get respect. The scat part on "Freak On A Leash" is legendary.

Korn has a unique sound, every time I listened to them when I was young I had a very creepy and filthy vibe. It's the musical equivalent of ''rape''. Too bad they got caught in the le nu-metal is shit meme and now everyone hates them.

I never forget anything. So if you ever feel so inclined to make a thread like this again I'll be happy to chew you out a second time.

They get props for originality. It just amazes me how fast a band can drop in quality. They should have made a trilogy and called it quits. If they did that, I doubt they would get nearly as much hate as they do.

KoRn suck, but I could see why a person might like them if they're not a fan of metal. Not even trying to be le elitist mealhead or anything, but the elements that KoRn embodify compared to "true metal" are not those that appeal to metalheads, but they do hold appeal to fans of alt-rock/hard rock/grunge/etc.

No, it's an amazing album. Pretty groundbreaking stuff.

That is probably the only nu-metal album cover that has aged well. Aside from maybe White Pony, but even that is kind of "eh".

Bullshit, most of the dissonant black and death metal of today ripped KoRn off hard. Even Gorguts was ripping the Nu-Metal sound on Obscura.

I'm explaining why it's not weird for a non-metalhead like OP to like KoRn.

Only the song Elite is nu-metal. The rest of the album is like an alt rock/metal album.

Korn put out some clunkers later on in their career, but their first few albums are pretty fantastic. Think about how many bands ripped off the sound of this album. This was to nu-metal what Reign in Blood was to thrash or what Altars of Madness was to death metal.
