Cemented into history as one of the biggest names in music.
How?

The Clash

Probably Busted in a couple of decades lol

it wasn't just about the music, it was their attitude. the manic destructive live shows. the drugs. sid dying. it embodied punk

They probably were the most influential
They were pretty good too
But they weren't the best
Also American punk is better

???

Nowadays maybe
But at that time British punk was best punk

Nobody denies they were influential, they were just boy band bullshit compared to everything that came after them.

They had more than one album. At least two kek

The Clash, The Police, The Jam

They basically only had Never mind the bollocks and their whole notoriety rests on that one album.

Ramones > Sex Pistols, easily

>The Police
>punk
I forgot the tendency this place has to classify random New Wave bands as punk for no reason. Might as well throw in New Order and Bauhaus while you're at it.

It has nothing to do with Sex Pistols

Are you forgetting No Future UK?

Definitely.

Their one gig in Manchester had the future members of joy division, morrissey, two guys from the buzzcocks, and mark e smith, and all of them were inspired to start bands as a result of that gig.

You mean Spunk? It's a bootleg of studio recordings. Never mind is the only full on studio album release that launched them into stardom.

Listen to Outlandous dude. It's more of a punk album than fuckin London Calling.

T.Rex?

T. Rex aren't punk.

Nether were The Dead Boys, but you get the point.

You what

>The Dead Boys
>not punk

How about these guys?
If it weren't for them you wouldn't have The Undertones The Descendents or Green Day!

Are non of their albums worth listening to? I always see people saying it's essential punk even though it's a compilation album

Their first three original albums and the Spiral Scratch ep are essential. Really great stuff. Their singles are just really amazing though and that collection is their best.

The Buzzcocks never put out a bad album.
All are essential but this is a good place to start.

They were in the very beginning. Fall Out is a punk single. However, they were too old and experts at their instruments so the UK punkers sniffed 'em out and were on to their act pretty early. They evolved the most out of that scene. Also, the cops were not just some random New Wave band. People forget that they made five stellar albums and got so huge that they knocked Thriller off the top of the charts for four months at the height of MJ's popularity.

How could I have forgotten the Buzzcocks?

The Sex Pistols were so punk because of their style, which they took from Richard Hell. Also Blank Generation is better than Nevermind the Buzzcocks

British punk has always been shit

Any feelings towards Stiff Little Fingers?

Absolutely terrible

Poor man's Clash. Inflammable Material is a great album though.

British punk only lasted for a few short years before fragmenting into New Wave, Industrial, Goth, Synthpop, etc

its a gay romance anime. nothing to do with the band at all.

pleb
>poor mans clash

literally the first hardcore punk album ever made
