No edition.

The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

Thank you for actually discussing music among these shitposters

whatcha listenin?

>sonny sharrock - ask the ages
a really interesting album combining borderline-free jazz with grandiose guitar solos. i have to say that the last two tracks blew everything preceding them out of the water in terms of quality.

thinking of doing either basho or ground-zero next

I want to die.

What kind of music, Paul from Ukraine?

All
Of it
I really am like of album called as so
"Altered States-Mosiac

It supposedly combines atmospheric black metal / blackgaze with post-punk but it's mostly blackgaze I guess. I'm not very fond of the genre, a lot of stuff just sounds the same and this thing isn't too much an exception. Even if it adds more sounds it still feels like not very different from the rest. Not really exciting, I am checking it out to start with 2017 releases.

Ohhh black metal
I like black metal
Very angry passionate raw music
I like band called Kvist

Yay i just found out i passed the hardest exam this semester
Tell me what to listen to in this victorious moment so I can listen to Sir Mix-a-Lot anyway

Sir Mix-a-Lot

>I am checking it out to start with 2017 releases
that's why it got on my radar aswell, still 2 albums behind on one 2017 release per day :/
This doesn't sound too promising although I like some blackgaze, so I might check it out nontheless

I see. I was not much into it, sadly.
But Kvist I do like. They have only one release as I remember, but it's very good, great melodies and vocals.

R U M P

I see. I'm not very fond of blackgaze on the other hand.
What are the dark green records on your chart btw?

Joan of Arc - He's Got the Whole This Land Is Your Land in His Hands
which is great, but not really your taste I think and everyone seems to hate it anyways
Shackleton & Vengeance Tenfold - Sferic Ghost Transmits
which is very good as well , progressive electronic, or whatever this means
and Avec le Soleil Sortant de sa Bouche - Pas pire pop, I Love You So Much
which i absolutely love, it's quite monotonous, but in the best way possible, don't know if you heard Zubberdust, but it's quite similar and potentially even better.

Yeah I don't think I'll like that Joan of Arc.
But I'll probably take a look at those two since there isn't much for 2017 so far anyways.

A. Kulczycki, M. Potts, A. Rosenfield (1996) Abortion and fertility regulation
M. Berer (2009) Provision of abortion by mid-level providers: international policy, practice and perspectives.
Usta M.B., Mitchell E.M.H., Gebreselassie H., Brookman-Amissah E., Kwizerae A.. Who is excluded when abortion access is restricted to twelve weeks?

Likely a shithost of others if you just search for it, I just picked three articles at random from my library. Consider also the fact that abortion prevalence is similar in countries where abortion is legal as it is in countries where it is illegal, the difference is only how it can be performed (which has a direct affect on the health of women), according to WHO.

A decent portion of students at my university are currently at a ski event this week, and for some reason the psychology students there find it appropriate to post in the psychology student group on Facebook, and it annoys me as fuck. Doesn't belong there at all.

Thank you.

this ground zero album is fucking nuts

i'm honestly shocked i haven't heard ridin' dirty.

which one?

The Ecstatic Music of the Jemaa El Fna

As the name implies, this is music from the main marketplace of Marrakesh, Morocco. As market music usually goes, it’s a wild mix of secular folk music, religious music, popular music, traditional and modern interpretations and everything in between, usually in a crazy blend of all different categories. Add to this the fact that Marrakesh was for a very long time a huge mixing pot of various cultures, through colonisation and as a trading hub, and what you end up with is something truly spicy. I’d say what shows the most in this recording is the Arabic elements that shine through every single song, in both instrumentation and musical styles. Particularly a lot of it reminds of the heaps of Andalusian music I’ve been listening to, which developed through mutual cultural exchanges and influences between Spain and Morocco. However, here it is presented in a less strict and formal setting.

I particularly enjoy the interplay between handclaps and percussion that is prominent in several songs, which at least to me feels like there’s a lot of audience engagement present. Most songs here are played on electric instruments, which gives it that somewhat modern edge, while still being solidly founded in traditional textures, reminiscent of the Guitar Music from Western Sahara albums also found on Sublime Frequencies. Not a big surprise, considering West Sahara is so close to Morocco (and even belonging to them, according to Morocco). Shamefully, the recording quality is fairly poor, which means I can’t fully appreciate the heavily distorted guitar solos on the Troupe Majidi tracks.

Overall, I like it. This is just the right kind of blend between modern and traditional musics. It doesn’t sound kitsch or pastiche, but genuine and sprawling. The recording is as lively as I imagine the marketplace to be. I’d recommend it primarily to people who enjoy traditional Arabic music and want to see it spiced up in a modern setting.

pekinese opera 1.28

damn, this looks cool. are you a fan of sublime frequencies hampy?

yeah, that's an awesome album.

>damn, this looks cool. are you a fan of sublime frequencies hampy?
Yes, I have all their releases as of early 2016 or so downloaded on my computer, listening through them somewhat slowly.

nice, thai pop spectacular and music of tanzania are both wonderful comps, i need to dig deeper into their catalogue.

Yeah, some releases are brilliant, but there are also a lot of rather boring albums, like the "Radio: XXXX" releases I find are pretty uninteresting.

>ground-zero - revolutionary pekinese opera ver.1.28
of all the albums i've ever loved upon first listen, this is probably the weirdest. i can't say much about this except that i'm probably gonna listen to it like 6 times this week
also does anyone know what the organ sample on the last track was playing? i recognized it from somewhere

starting the two and a half hour yabby you comp, wish me luck.

Pavement - Watery, Domestic (1992)
>indie rock, lo-fi indie

Some of Pavement's best tunes are on this thing. "Texas Never Whispers" and "Frontwards" are both incredible tunes. The former is one of Pavement's most hard-hitting tracks, the opening guitar wails are extraordinary, and the crunchy guitar that permeates the whole track is incredible. The latter is one of Pavement's best-written songs, possesing a gorgeous melody and a nice usage of a pseudo-motorik drum beat. The other two songs aren't nearly as memorable, but they're decent enough ways to round out this pretty darn good EP.

3.0-

Abominable Putridity - The Anomalies of Artificial Origin (2012)
>slam death metal, brutal death metal

Sorry Nyar. The only positive thing I can really say about this album is that the drumming is admittedly really great, but nothing else appeals to me at all. The vocals are in that very burpy register I despise, the riffs are pretty stale, and pretty much every song sounds the same, which is a big problem with slam in general. It's a tiring listen, and it's only 25 minutes long. I get the appeal, it's just not for me. Cool cover though.

0.5+

The Savage Young Taterbug - Theme for Gasoline Weirdo (2011)
>hypnagogic pop, avant-folk, neo-psychedelia

To parrot Rod's review of this, the concept is really cool and the execution is alright but it could be done much better. It's a post-internet take on americana and bluegrass, taking the loops and the hazy atmospheres of the former and the down-to-earth, banjo-pickin' sound of the latter. It meshes the two shockingly well, but the loops could absolutely stand to stick around for much longer than they do/ This minimalism-esque style never lets any specific phrase stick out, every interesting motif is gone as soon as it starts to work its way into your brain. This makes for a very forgettable listen, but the sound and the concept are still /really/ cool.

2.5+

this bit?
youtube.com/watch?v=IB3rZFEi3n8

i've never heard any of those, but i can see how they'd be less remarkable than their trad and pop releases. radio pyongyang looks really cool though.

it's real good innit?

also man that is like a disgustingly good chart, check out exuma next.

ooooooh last track?

yeah no clue

>Two and a half hour Yabby You comp
he's good, but that's a lot damn

you could just listen to Conquering Lion, King Tubby's Prophesy of Dub, and Deliver Me from My Enemies

Radio Pyongyang is only interesting because you don't come by North Korean music easily, but there are some other options I prefer.

is north korean traditional music that much different from south korean trad? were there notable cultural differences between the two regions before the country was split in two?

i love conquering lion, but this comp has a lot of extra material and extra dubs i wanna hear. and i've been craving some good reggae/dub lately so i might as well drown in it.

oh that looks cool, thanks!

Where does one go if you can't find an album on spotify/soulseek/archive/rutracker now what.cd is dead? Looking for Rie Nakijama - Four Forms, there are some ups on soulseek but they won't actually download :/

cool sounds neat!
extra dub versions are always a plus

Nah, I'd say North Korea differentiates itself in its propaganda music than the traditional tunes. But mostly in the libretti. I don't think they distinguish themselves all too much musically in general.

I guess you buy it?

Stan Brakhage films fit amazingly well with great techno.

REEEEEEEE

why are you upset? it's the truth!

but reeeeeee tho

There is nothing wrong with porn!
Don't let the moaning minnies have their way! There's nothing wrong with a bit of porn! There's more porn watched on the internet than anything else! That's no shame in that in the 21st century!
We have a family night at home where the girls ( wife and my daughter) watch EastEnders in the study and me and my two sons watch hard core porn in the lounge. Good porn for male bonding! We love the internet TV hard core German porn 24/7 channels too! You could only dream of such stuff when I was a lad.The girls like it too - just not when EastEnders is on!
If I won the lottery, do you know what I'd do? First I'd get divorced (no offence to my wife) then I would buy a private jet and turn its passenger area into a hedonistic sex lair! I would then fly it to a remote corner of the world! Upon arrival, I would find a village inhabited by a native tribe that has never seen white people or technology before, or has but only has ephemeral exposure to them! In this village would be a girl who has a very curious/kinky sexual mind, but has never been able to do anything about it (let's say such things are punishable by death in her tribe)! In any case, I would sneak her away and into my plane and make every one of her desires a reality! Not only would it be her first time, but since she had never been exposed to things like pornography, sex toys, quality lubricant, oils, etc., it would blow her away in ways that she never even could have imagined!

what's your favorite Brakhage film user?
