Never seen the appeal of how soon is now. It doesn't sound like the Smiths.

This Charming Man

Am I the only one who prefers their s/f to Hatful of Hollow?

True but that's why I love it, Marr came up with something totally unique.

the queen is dead is so perfect

You know what my gripe with the smiths is?
a LOT of their music sounds same-ish to me. SPECIALLY THE VOCALS.

I feel that the lead singer has a template of how he wants the vocals to sound. Or I guess the vocals sound veryy similar because he has a distinctly mellow voice which is makes it stand out conspicuously as noticeably uniform across albums.

Most songs are "mellow" in that they sound very "safe" and don't ever try to be anything /more/ than the uniform average set by the album. They don't try to be anything significantly different or experimental at all.

don't get me wrong, I love morrissey's vauxhall and I but I just can't bring myself to listen to multiple albums by him.

And I didn't mean to make the comparison but on the other hand you have "the cure" who aren't consistent at all but have some variation and pretty exciting pieces of works like "disintegration" or "pornography".

It's because Morrissey isn't a musician, great vocalist and lyricist but he held the band back a lot by not contributing anything else as the face of the band.

Marr's sound is iconic so you can't fault him on that, him trying to be more experimental with sound and composition is probably what lead to the break up.

It's for fags who watched too much Charmed.

Same but swap Last Night for The Headmaster Ritual

Nah that's my favorite album of theirs.

I'm pretty sure everyone that listen to Smiths because of their lyrics. So it doesn't really mater if they lack experimentation or anything else.

Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before
The Headmasters Ritual
Girlfriend in a Coma
There is a Light That Never Goes Out

>I'm pretty sure everyone that listen to Smiths because of their lyrics

you're kidding right

johnny marr is one of the most influential guitarists ever and for good reason

Johnny Marr is a great guitarrist. 10 of all time for me, but the Smiths' lyrics are what attract people into them.

>I'm pretty sure everyone that listen to Smiths because of their lyrics

most retarded comment on Sup Forums yet.
