>Death Grips
>Loveless
>ITAOTS
>Joanna Newshit
>Radiohead

I'm going to listen to this entire list and see how it goes

if you haven't already listened to everything on this list you should probably fuck right off desu

>radiohead
>extreme listener
>incredibly tough

Literally none of these are "tough albums for extreme listeners"

The only album I'd call a tough off that list is Trout Mask Replica.

And also Merzbow is in his list so him too

How the fuck do you put Merzbow in the same list as Radiohead for "tough albums"

It's nearly impossible to finish a Radiohead album without getting the urge to turn it off.

This is the reason most of the list is made up of Sup Forumscore

>each album is on a different page

no thanks

>Confield
Yeah I could see that, it's less accessible than Trout Mask
>The Disintegration Loops
>Flood
>Shaking the Habitual
>Third
>Deceit
>Knife Play
A little bit
>Bitches Brew
>Tago Mago
>Faust
somewhat
>Smile from the Streets You Hold
This one is just downright painful

lel

half of it is poseur-core desu, I avoid that stuff on purpose

This list gave me cancer

what a pointless list

>the entirety of Jazz is the #1 most difficult music of all time that only extreme listeners can handle

Who the fuck made this list?

>Boris — Flood
>Like standing next to a glacier and listening to it inch its way toward sea level. Except amplified about a gazillion times, and played at the other end of an aircraft hangar by four crazy Japanese musicians.
>four crazy Japanese musicians
>four
They can't even fucking count

>first fucking thing is aphex twin

>The Mars Volta

...

>>Neutral Milk Hotel — In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
>>Joanna Newsom — Have One On Me
HOW ARE THESE "TOUGH LISTENING"

HOW ARE THESE ON THE SAME LIST AS FUCKING MERZBOW AND METAL MACHINE MUSIC

thank you bud

modern websites are fucking cancer

How is Elliott smith on there what is their reasoning

i got to 'atari teenage riot' and i had to bail

normies are the worst

Let's post actual difficult music. I'll start with this beautiful, hideous thing.

youtube.com/watch?v=vZXKn2pZo_g&ab_channel=AllanRojas

the vocals. it's a bullshit reason tbqh, they arent even THAT abrasive

he died. no, really, thats why

Joanna's voice is legitimately pleasant on HOOM

Milk Eyed Mender is way more abrasive, that's an actual tough listening album

honestly though, lots of these albums on here are pretty brutal listens. Joanna Newsome, not really. But some legit weirdos for sure.

Other than Merzbow(who suck) and Capt Beefy, the list is basically just albums your average pitchfork reader listen to on the reg. Pretty disappointing because its a good idea for a listicle. Now we just need one made by a non-normie.

You mean made by a non-Sup Forumstant

Is Mars Volta on there for their voice also?

>tfw no Y
Is it just not experimental enough

It's a pretty emotionally intense album so maybe that's why but even with that in mind I don't find it a tough listen. I've heard records even more depressing than that, I mean jesus if they think Elliott Smith is too dark someone better make sure they don't hear Giles Corey or they'll all slit their wrists on the spot.

>Miles Davis — Bitches Brew
>Death Grips — No Love Deep Web
>My Bloody Valentine — Loveless
>Neutral Milk Hotel — In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
>Radiohead — Kid A
>Soft Machine — Third
>Slint — Spiderland
>Sun Ra, generally
what
the
fuck

>Sun Ra in general
>uses a track from Lanquidity to show how challenging he is
Am I being joked?

Jesus christ
I mean, when I was 13 and the furthest out my music got was Pink Floyd, that was when Kid A and Bitches Brew were challenging records, but at this point those albums sound almost tame.
At least they included a few genuinely pretty difficult listens like Merzbow and Whitehouse but even so if they knew about those why even include something like ITAOTS when they knew there was far weirder shit out there.

>50 Incredibly Tough Albums for Extreme Listeners

oh look fifty (50) pages of ad-revenue clickbait

fuck off

They also picked an album that isn't even challenging. Comparatively, if they are insistent on having Boris on the list they should have chosen one of the Thing Which Solomon Overlooked albums.

It's not though

>clicking next to see a rym-core album with a shitty little paragraph

Lol alright moving on

>oh hey this might be pretty cool, I wonder if
>first thign is Aphex Twin — Drukqs
well at least I know I don't have to read further

the concepts of their albums were the reason for The Mars Volta

>The Mars Volta

TMV is cozy as fuck, though...

Don't know what the fuck I'm listening to but it's interesting.

Discipline by KC is challenging to listen to minus frame by frame and matte kudasai

When I think challenging for KC, I think Larks Tongues. Discipline had much more of a pop pacing and was quite frequent in grooves. Songs like Larks Tongues part 1 and The Talking Drum are practically pleb repellent.

This is entry-level as fuck. I didn't even know half of this was considered a "tough listen"

>no harsh noise wall
>no eai
>no onkyo
shit tier list 2bh

how much you wanna bet a newfag wrote this

>It does also present plenty of moments where the casual listener might find themselves asking, “What the actual fuck is this?” Stick with it. It makes sense. I promise.

No it doesn't. Richard pretty much admitted that Drukqs is pretty much a compilation of tracks slapped together, and the listener should rip the CD, and only select the tracks they like.

kek at the video they used

tfw nobody on mu ever wants to talk about melt bananas :c

I really want to see what shitty blurbs they have for fucking Radiohead and NMH but there's no way in hell I'm clicking through 30+ pages of this shittily designed website. Ad revenue was a mistake.

NMH was literally just the "I LOVE YOU JESUS CHRIST" meme, Radiohead was something about people being disappointed after OKC.

>50 Incredibly Tough Albums for Extreme Listeners
>ITAOTS

It's like a 7 car collision; it's so dreadful but you just can't look away.

Fair point.

I can sit through half hour long harsh noise pieces but I can only get like 5 tracks into Scratch and Stitch

If you've listened to one Rita album you know exactly what to expect so it's not tough, and once you are used to noise it's almost comfy too.

Mansun? are you fucking kidding me?
It was a fucking brit-pop band, not more challenging than Blur or Oasis.

>no Lygeti
>no Penderecki
>no Stockhausen
>no Cage
>no Dockstader
Whitehouse is easy, musique concrete and indeterminancy require actual patience and attention.

Only maybe 15 of those deserve to be in a list of inaccessible albums.

*Ligeti

This has got to be a joke.

The only way anyone could find all the things on here difficult is if you only listen to the radio.

>The Mars Volta In General
>Their last two records were pop records

This list is fucking retarded.

I don't even know what this means

What is a tough album? what is an extreme listener?

>no Meet the Residents

can you imagine what would happen to these people's tiny brains if they tried listening to Schoenberg or Stockhausen?

>all these catchy albums
you can also put Lil Boat for fucks sake

Wow what a shit list

What? I love Smile from the Streets you hold

is this the actual fucking list kek

>Bisch Bosch

>People actually think this
Jesus

everything

>50 Icky Albums for Massive Pleb Normies

Flavor wire is getting too much click revenue from this thread. Pls delet, the list is retarded.

>Merzbow in the same list as Joanna Newsom for "difficult" albums
It's like someone spent 2 hours looking here and posted any albums they saw more than once.

how could they forget yeezus

>Joanna Newsom
why is her stuff difficult at all? its all very calm folksy stuff

runts just cant handle unconventional melodies

its literally a list of anything vaguely outside the norm with a bit of passion

eh i can understand that a lot of the "normie" albums on here are accessible but have a lot of depth to be uncovered through subsequent listens, e.g. HooM
flood is only tough if you have ADHD and can't finish flood 1

or Vein

Hahaha holy fuck is Hissing Fauna in there?
I'm a filthy pleb that dislikes almost everything on that list, but Of Montreal is the catchiest shit ever, what were they even thinking?
