Californian here. I do and don't agree. A large part of that is that lots of non-Californians live here, but people that were born and raised here whose parents were born and raised here are quite different and actually hold the seats of the state culture.

I would support the idea of splitting the US into a few parts, though. Maybe they could work together in an economic union. It would be like reversing the clock on the federalisation of the US.
