hopefully see them live in a month

bretty good album but idk if I'd call it jazz

anything with Chris Potter is always good

Thumbscrews

Yer

probably not this exactly but I've been really enjoying this the past few months

Anybody else who hates the ECM sound? Like some of the music is good but they make it all so soft and controlled

It is quite sweet

I don't hate it but yeah it can be annoying. It certainly works for some contexts, but even then I can get tired of listening to more than a bit of it

thanks for this OP

listen to jacques coursil's trails of tears

Are ecm not on Spotify?

no

No

Right. What a nut job though. He would drive me bonkers.

funnily enough most ECM releases are available from microsoft groove, if you have a pass and download them

It's a reasonable point

what point

>listening to any jazz made later than the 70's

That's not a point. It's an embarrassing greentext

Tchicai - With Strings

Smith/Blackwell - The Blue Mountain's Sun Drummer

Högberg - Anna Högberg Attack

Battle Trance - Palace of Wind and Blades of Love (though this is more avant than jazz)

All of these are absolute top-tier

Yeah, it's worth contemplating.

Yeah, after a long contemplation I decided it's fucking stupid

Christian Scott aTunde - Stretch Music

Although to be honest I'm not even sure if this is still considered jazz

Impetuous fool.

Relax and listen to modern jazz.

I enjoy most of what ECM puts out. I don't fully understand the hatred of ECM on Sup Forums. Tim Berne, Michael Formanek, and Ralph Alessi are amazing to me.

It's not the music, it's the production

Mostly anything by Brötzmann I'll check out. Becoming very select on the things I throughly enjoy by him though. Mainly drum and sax or solo are my favorites.

Even still, I'm fine with it.

What would you recommend? Only thing I've listened to by him is The Fat Is Gone, which is amazing

Great but not jazz at all

A bit overhyped, but not as bad as the jazz purists on Sup Forums make it out to be. It's definitely jazz, but fused with modern rock. I vastly prefer his album Christian aTunde Adjuah

My favorite jazz album from this decade is Gold of Malkinia by Shofar. I also really like Today's Opinion by Yosvany Terry, which jtg turned me on to

These are a nice start.
