My girlfriend and I are fluent in English. She's Chinese and I'm French, absolutely no problem to communicate in English. I hoped I could reach conversational Chinese just so I'd be able to speak with her parents (they only speak Chinese), and her friends. But at the same time I don't ever need Chinese to express something I couldn't express better in English in a better way. Because my Chinese level is kinda low, A2. That is still a lot of work for such a low level of proficiency. But at the same time it's not enough to have basic conversations. I'm kinda lost now about what I should study, work on, before I met them to make this whole thing a little bit less awkward. Any advice or opinion is welcomed.
