Did you know Midori means green in Japanese?

I never thought I'd enjoy ear-rape so much

www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1ttOwBFgqo

poor men's Ground Zero

anything you can rec?

Ground Zero

not even similar you fucking retarded pseud

it's literally uninspired, overproduced and purely commercial copycat
It's Babymetal of japanese avantgarde rock

Why are japs so good at shoegaze

You missed a thread
We are talking about industrial techno here

They aren't.

But Midori is punk jazz

no one is good at shoegaze because all of it sucks

no

but they aren't lmao

they're only good at making catchy anime OST

wat si it then

hip hop

Why are the Japanese so fucking annoying?

because you're racist

japanes are white
left hate them

Nah Japans aren't pajeets

Midori is also a common japanese girl name.

ambient

ragga jungle

Nah, Japanese are cool.

reminds me of 385

ground zero isn't rock you dumb fuck

yes, it's go fuck yourself gook

I do believe that is the Wikipedia entry for Midori, not Ground Zero.

how embarrasing

do you expect me to read all your fucking post you piece of shit?
both of them is rock
shut the fuck up it's not your conversation

>they're both noise rock so they sound the same
Yeah man Shellac sounds just like Les Rallizes Denudes! Fucking tool

Midori is entry level Japanese rock, nothing special really, you like it at first but realize there is much better stuff out there

first, everyone, shut the fuck up.
midori is a great band and it's not a "poor's man ground zero" ground zero doesn't sound nothing like midori at all, if you don't believe me go listen to SWING.
also, fuck off.

go fuck with your strawman somewhere else retard
i was comparing only two bands and never stated that genre affiliation is what makes them same

>listen up everyone. I'm right and your wrong so shut the fuck up ok :)

But that's the whole thread.

Honestly I was excited that there was a band that people could call a rich man's midori, but I really can't find a song by them that is anything like midori. Not sure where the comparison comes from

>really can't find a song by them that is anything like midori
Like whole 1993 self titled album nigga?

Okay didn't see that one, that's more similar. Still though, seems kind of pointless to compare a free improv noise rock group to a regular jazz/noise rock group. They're attempting completely different things. Calling them a copycat because they're both noisy, and because Midori occasionally incorporates some noisy free improv seems unfair. I mean there's way more of a difference between them and Midori than there is between any two disparate free improv noise groups.

My point is that midori "noise" is polished and sliced into perfect portions, ready to consume by untutored listener.
Like any perfectly produced japanese idol band it has a key schtick - which is "lel randomnes xD" - thus is my babymetal comparison
Other than that, it's shallow, deeply unhonest creation that serves no purpose other than fill market niche and promote some general Japanese social values (like ok, kid, you can have fun too while you are young ok but be ready for salarymen future don't use drugs be crazy sometimes we japanese are creative too ok) that are inflicted by producer

You don't know anything about Japanese life do you

neither are you

>neither are you

posting some jewish looking person won't justify your ignorance

Meh, sounds like avant garde cred posturing to me. They're incorporating noise elements into fun jazz punk. "polished" relative to the fucking gerogerigegege but still pretty rough compared to anything else. I think you're reading way to much into what you're assuming their intent was. To promote social values?...

Midori weren't even that big in Japan

great thread

It is polished and overproduced compared to almost any japan avant project
their schtick with wall of random piano and drum sound is balanced, unoffensive and predictable to almost any listener
Took any onkyo project for example
>To promote social values
In a way any general japanese enterainment for youth is
It has nothing to say other than "it is cool to be young and loudXD but within boundaries, ok"

*Take any onkyo project for example for comarsion

if u dont think onkyo is well produced you dont know what the fuck youre talking about

Your definition of "polished" is pretty skewed if the bar is resting directly above japanese free improv avant rock. If Midori's intent was to create music for people to listen to while standing silently in a dark concrete slab basement and ponder its meaning, then yes it's too polished to be that. I don't think it's clear that that's not the perspective it should be judged from. They were trying to make fun noisy rock music.

By polished production i mean "ready to throw on radio without anybody noticing"

I think it's clear that*

I don't listen to the japanese radio, so I wouldn't know. I don't think it makes sense to criticize something for being listenable. You could just as easily criticize Ground Zero for not just going full-merzbow and producing pure noise.

I not criticizing it for being listenable
I am saying that it has nothing to offer other than loud upbeat sound
It has no idea, no direction, no value

I mean yeah, if someone just listens to shit like the gerogerigegege and Mannequin Neurose, then Midori isn't going to have anything to offer them. But I don't think Midori is attempting to cater to that demographic in the first place. Again, if you didn't come to the party specifically looking for fun noisy punk rock, then you came to the wrong party. It sounds like you're just not into them.

btw to be clear I'm not calling them shit, I was just using "shit" as a synonym for "stuff"

Literally shut the fuck up. Jesus Christ. Fuck you man.

well that's pure presumption

Spotted babymetal fan

Those are not arguments, they're conclusions.
You've provided no proof for anything yet.

You didn't spot anything you deaf ass fuckstain faggot. FUCK. YOU.

if you spoke Japanese, you'd realize their "direction" in every album they put out

What proof do you expect? Scientific paper?
Random pop-punk Nickelback-tier spouting about love, loneliness, dreams, general upbeat "destroy everything" energetic is not what i'd call a clear direction

>What proof do you expect? Scientific paper?
Arguments instead of opinions.

>love, loneliness, dreams, general upbeat "destroy everything" energetic
that kind of sounds like a direction to me. being improvised or sort of loose isnt the same as being completely arbitrary like youre implying by calling it "random". music doesn't need an agenda anyways

neither are you though

...

opinions are the superset of arguments
i already gave you enough
listen with your own ears all their shit to realize they don't use the tools they are have for anything other than cool instrumentation
same motives, same structures
>music doesn't need an agenda anyways
it does. more then ever, actually
because postmodern "anything goes because everything is ironic, so we can do simplistic loud shit and pretend it's the way it sould be" attitude had exhausted itself. There is need for strong ideas and its actual implementation
but i aren't posting jews
is that nigga from gybe

Hopefully Midori gets back together and starts playing free noise improv. Then they'll really be unique, like every other free noise improv group.

Why do I get the feel that you people are mostly talking about lyrics rather than the actual music, uh?...

>opinions are the superset of arguments
No they're not, arguments are substantiated by evidence or logical reasonings, opinions are inerently subjective.
>listen with your own ears all their shit to realize they don't use the tools they are have for anything other than cool instrumentation
same motives, same structures
Their instrumentation is actually pretty traditional? Other than some songs having a double bass (which it's not really that odd anyway).
And although they use formulaic structures constantly they have a good deal of songs that don't follow the popular chorus-verse pattern.
I don't know what are "motives".

> My point is that midori "noise" is polished and sliced into perfect portions, ready to consume by untutored listener.
How is that a bad thing?

Anyone know the song with a nice keyboard solo that got deleted by youtube? If i remember well, the clip was her singing in a small room with some dudes

I think it was ドーピングノイズノイズキッス

doping noise noise kiss or something in romanized

Konnjounashi Atashi, Aho Boke, maybe?

how do i get their albums besides just listening to them on youtube?

Just look up for them to download on Google. I guess you can find a place where you can buy them as well.

mu archive, read the sticky

Thank you, user

>There is need for strong ideas and its actual implementation
concept albums are nice too but it's not like ideology-driven music and music just for the sake of it, or fun, can't coexist. you seem so wrapped up in your completely unfounded opinions it's kind of funny

my b thanks for pointing me in the right direction

wow this is nice, thanks
