Whirr is the best shoegaze band of the decade.

Opinions on this? pretty damn good imo
Hi everyone,
I posted our new demo in a thread that died quickly so I share it again with you.
youtube.com
Our influences are mainly Alcest, Deafheaven and Have A Nice Life, but also classic shoegaze like Slowdive. I hope you will enjoy it.
pls repsond
Dude I'm loving this track already, and I'm only 4 minutes in. I'd love to see what else you guys got cooking!
One and the same. Sad!
Thanks a lot!
You can follow us on bandcamp or youtube, the album is on its way but it will take some time. We want to make something complete, without flaws. The singer and the bassist still need to improve their skill, but supports like yours are very appreciated. We also have a fb page where we share photographs, drawings and of course, music. The adress is zetaquarii.
Thank you again.
Not samefagging.
Will do my dude! I'm actually trying to form a band right now... I'm pretty new to guitar but I'm learning pretty quick. Not looking to do anything serious, just to fuck around with other people musically. Trouble is finding bandmates. Shit's hard yo.
iktf
The guitarist plays in another band and they keep having bassists that leave one or two months because they're busy or because they don't make enough money. Music is hard, but you should go on and it will work one day.
Thanks my dude. I've always wanted to make music and now after 20 years I'm finally learning. Anyway keep doing what you're doing! It sounds great!
What genre do you plan to play?
Shoegaze, my dude. I've got lots of song ideas in my head and I honestly want to find out if the
>shoegaze requires the least amount of skill to play!
meme is real, haha.
Nice, send us your works when you want.
...
Whirr are amazing, do they have anything planned for 2017?
I've been listening to pic related a few times a day for the past week, really into it.
Can anyone recommend me something similar sounding?
>pic related
Something similar to pic related?
distressor is top tier
Throw some random shugazi albums/EPs my way. Anything goes. I want to discover new shit.
they were working on something in late 2015 but after the incident with gloss they pretty much dropped off the map
#bringbackwhirr
Isn't Nothing's rhythm section just the vest memebers from whirr?
Mean Red Spiders - Starsandsons
>dream pop, shoegaze

when they were Whirl, yeah. I dunno, nothing even closely compares to Distressor, it's just too fucking good. everything else they've made after it just feels underwhelming because of it
Nothing is so inferior to Whirr though
Quick someone post whirr being dicks on Facebook
anyone jammed this yet? My shugazi AOTYSF
Is Neon Indian shugazi?
I've always loved Strawberry Wine and Ecstasy as well.
I just gave this a listen finally, and sometimes it reminded me of early MBV. I haven't found anything very close to the sound yet though.
I was able to talk with Bobby from Cloakroom after a show, a former Run for Cover band who were going to release a split with Whirr last year. They had to cancel the split after RFC dropped Whirr, which was a load of bullshit. I hope, if nothing else, Whirr puts those songs online or something.
Also again I'm shilling for this album, it's a great Hum-esque shoegaze space rock album

What the fuck did you just say to me you little cunt?
Nah turnover created the greatest shoe gaze album probably ever made.
Turnover is music I pay for normie friends not into shoegaze. It's a good album and very non offensive but also boring by track 4
A heroin addict and family friend recommended this to me as the "best album ever". It's so highly rated on RYM, but it just seems "okay" overall to me, doesn't blow me away or make me want to relisten to any of the songs. I saw the genre tags and thought it would be like Clan of Xymox, which I love, but it doesn't grab me like any Clan of Xymox albums do.
Is there a different Cure album I should try as someone who really likes Xymox?
I don't think there's a goth synthpop Cure album
I love Hum, one of the best forgot acts of the 90's. Will look into this if it's got that heaviness a lot of modern shoegaze lacks.
I haven't listen to Sway yet, but their first album is one of the most boring, derivative shoegaze albums I have ever heard
Suh shvgazi, just got around to checking out the new Heretoir song. Their harsh guitars were a little too Alcest-sounding for my taste (too metallic, not ethereal enough) but I dig it for the more energetic composition. Those distinctive off-beat atmoblack blast beats and buried screams are a great pairing with this kind of music.

Speaking of Frenchgaze I'm excited for the new Les Discrets, the one new song I listened to sounded like a gothic Bowery Electric, totally different from their normal sound
This is really good. Drums get kind of monotonous but I'm a sucker for that dreamy and dense-sounding style.
Apparently one of them is now in Nothing (the poor man's Whirr) and their social media is now completely silent
#FreeWhirl
Kind of a weird connection but the ambient parts of this really remind me of the vaporwave artist t e l e p a t h. He does a lot of hazy drone stuff that has a similar tape-loopy feel, check out the first track on this album.
Some of the other stuff has downtempo beats if that's what you want, though there is some not-good vaporwave cheesiness to some of it

I need some muffled walls of soft noise, please.

this is really good, completely forgot about them
