I know I did in high school (Ron Paul '08), and I used to think marijuana legalization and elimination of the minimum wage sounded great. And then I slowly became more doubtful about the idea of reducing the role of social custom in organizing society and allowing people to fend for themselves when you see them sink into sloth and hedonism. And you get tired of all this radical change and just want things to stay the way they were back when society seemed functional so you can get a good job, pay a fair amount of tax (aka less), and find a nice wife to have kids with.
