Actually no, 6% of all the music I rate on RYM is 10/10.

Most music I've rated is 8/10 but this might change as the 21st Century continues.

Nas - Illmatic
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Jay Rock - 90059

My picks.

I like what I like.

I like those choices. What's your favorite track off the FLCL ost and V:D:C?

What's the cheapest place that you've seen to buy the Hexalogy? the lowest I've seen so far is on Amazon for $30 with free shipping, but I want to know if I can get it for less and still be mint.

>Vespertine
>Enjoy Your Rabbit

So these are my 5.0's... what am I supposed to do?

only decent collection of 5's itt

all of those are good to me but none are really FIVES honestly

do you remembah

why do you think that sufjan album is his best?

> all of those are good to me but none are really FIVES honestly
I feel the same way about your 5.0's desu (from what I listened to).

i wish i had better taste.

My Dying Bride is the only one that's offensively bad (not counting Death Grips or Grouper as those are the ones I've never heard), so you're probably a decent person and can continue being yourself

>Cocteau Twins' worst album
>poor man's Yerself is Steam
>Double Nickels over Zen Arcade
>Helter Stupid over s/t or Escape from Noise
>Aeroplane over Avery
>poor man's Country Honk
>one of the worst Ween albums
Good Marvin Gaye pick though

> My Dying Bride is the only one that's offensively bad
But, what's the problem with My Dying Bride?

You're doing better than most.

You're not adventurous enough.

You're supposed to do a hard reset. Keep Gainsbourg and maybe four others but that's it.

You've crossed the threshold where giving out five stars means nothing. Not if you hand them out like candy. Though given that you just awarded five stars to music the calibre of Jandek I think we'd have reached that conclusion anyway.

6% is quite a lot, motherfucker, having any differentiation between ratings is meaningless if the majority aren't near the middle of the scale, otherwise, anyone who sees a rating can't tell what albums you like best and least

treats music like pokemon cards

>Kid A
Fuck off.

Ouch

I mean, I understand if you like it ironically, and that's fine, it's just not good at anything it tries to be, but like I said, it's the only terrible album of your picks, everyone's allowed to have a terrible one or two that they love for nostalgia or some other reason

... uh, well, I don't feel nostalgia for it but... uh, ok.

should kill himself, preferably by self-immolation.

Oh, well, I'd be happy to read why you think it's a five star album if it's not just because you liked it as a teenager or something or out of some irony

I don't even know where to start desu, I give it a 10 because I do think is perfect. The melancholic atmosphera suits perfectly the lyrics, the almost no use of growling complements the less brutal instrumentation, the riffs are damn awesome, I don't know, everything is at its peak.

;)

Well, okay, maybe I should have phrased it better, in what context are you coming to it from, like what albums do you think it is a perfection of...are you a fan of doom or sludge metal, of gothic rock, industrial? In the context of the genres it is attempting to assimilate, I just can't see how it is a step up rather than a significant one down.

Oh, you're a meme rater, I should've realized

Well, I enjoy all those genres, but I'm going to say doom.

(;

Only things I'd hate on are Kid A, Spiderland, that Sonic Youth crap, Talking Heads and Swans. Fuck Swans.

>he's never listened to pre-Jarboe Swans
they used to be a pretty good band

LPs, Single, Eps
whatever

Fair enough, I guess, as a big fan of many great albums from those genres, which are some of my all-time favorites, I just feel like My Dying Bride is a completely flaccid and uninteresting iteration of those worlds...at least they're not as bad as post-ironic Type O Negative

rate my taste

here's my 4.5s which are also quite exclusive

I've been thinking of putting at a 4.5 with Michigan and Seven Swans, but I just think it's an intensely emotional album for being so harsh and experimental. There's really nothing else like it.
