Special Sup Forums FAQ: >What's the point of this thread? For learners of Japanese to come and ask questions and shitpost with other learners. Japanese people learning English can come too I guess. >Why is it here? The mods moved us here and won't let us go anywhere else. >Why not use the pre-existing Japanese thread? The cultures are completely different. >Go back to Sup Forums There's the door
If Japanese would abolish Kanji, could Japanese resurrect? Because Japanese learners often say Japanese pronunciation is super easy and its grammer is relativity easy too.

Nicholas Cox

Leo Brooks
Sup Forums is a shithole, I didn't even come here before it moved to Sup Forums
Wyatt Moore
No matter, we're the board that's actually going to use the japanese for something meaningful to change our lives.

Isaac Gutierrez

Eli Richardson

Colton Cox
It depends on the day. Sometimes I wake up and there are 100 new posts here and about 20~30 on /jp/.
Gavin Ortiz

「事情知ってるキャラ、高い所に立ちがち」
It seems weird that the noun would be after the verb for 知ってる
also why is it 知ってるinstead of しって?
Hunter Sanders
知ってる is an informal form of the way of saying 知っている
and I suppose を is missing. there should've been it between 事情 and 知っている. such awkwardly speaking reminds me of reticent characters
dont think of it like that, the words are already plural by nature,
猫 = cat/cats 犬 = dog/dogs 車 = car/cars
たち is mostly used for people or animals, it has a feeling to it.
Brayden Long
Is anyone else juggling a difficult college course load and moonlearning as well? I'm having trouble just keeping on top of my anki reps and keeping up with classwork.
Jason Hughes
basically yes. but we don't use "tati" as the same way English speakers strictly use "-s" properly. this is why Japanese posters forget article "a".
Josiah Russell
Huh... Fuck.
Well arigatou senpai.
Easton Perez
Yes , but only for being . So not for cars .
also for insects.
Logan Moore
Try making Anki during breaks, commute and whatnot.
If you're really lagging on other areas, lower your new cards and focus on grammar or reading with that time.
I only have around 1 hour of free study time during weekdays, so I just do Anki. Once I'm done with it, I won't add cards for a couple months while I study grammar, doing only review reps.
Nicholas Carter
This difficult college course is moonlearning for me
Nolan Hall
Grammar is 100x harder than Kanji for me at least, Kanji was a lot easier

How would you say someone is in a movie, like appeared in a movie/play/book/show?

Are universities in the US like a lot more work than here or something? I learned Japanese throughout studying and I easily had 3 hours every day for it.

I'm doing a STEM major + trying to maintain a 4.0 GPA, which may exacerbate it. Hahaha
Carter Scott
Well I did both of those as well. How much time do you spend on lectures, assignments, labs, etc?
Hunter Morris
I think I'm taking 19 credits this semester, plus a few hours additional obligation for ROTC, I have 2 labs due a week with probably 5-6 other miscellaneous assignments due every week. I find myself very busy most weekdays, I'm not incredibly smart so I have to check over my work and be careful to get grades..
Mason King
those are nouns, i need verbs/adj
Zachary Reed
Wait I'm not sure how the American system works, 19 credits is how many courses? What's ROTC? We do 4 courses a semester, so at worse you'll have 4 assignments due every week, each one only taking like 1-2 hours unless it's a super hard course.
Dylan Price
19 credits is a shitton for a semester, and ROTC is military club (basically)
t. other american in the thread
Jacob Barnes
>military club you have officially triggered me also I don't think 19 is a shitton 19 credits = 19 hours of class a week
Robert Robinson
someoneが出演している or someoneが出ている
Ryder Martinez
fug man if you take about 30 credits/semester which is the norm thats way over half your workload for the year
also I was never really in ROTC it was just a guess
Caleb Hall
merci
Easton Evans
That is a fair bit, our 4 courses would have about 3 lectures a week so you'd usually only have about 12 hours of class. I guess I'm glad I studied here where the universities are cheaper and less work.

Any legitimate 日章旗 anons around? A question: would 安地 be understood in the following sense? Context: It is very hot in place I am in at the moment but lying with a fan blowing against my face provides comfort and a feeling of relaxation. Turning off the fan or moving away from it causes a rapid rise in body temperature and within minutes I am dripping in sweat and stressed out/anxious. This space within the fan breeze is like a comfort zone or a safe space from the environment. Could this be referred to as an 安地、as in 安全地帯?
Pic unrelated. Just like it.
Julian Wright
>trying to create sjw words
Ryder James
Use cool zone or 寒い地帯
Matthew Baker
we could call such a situation 安全地帯 to be funny. basically the way of using it is not common. nowadays Jap game players often use 安地.
Juan Richardson
>寒い it's rather cold (uncomfortable)
Bentley Adams
安地 is already an abbreviation used in reference to video games. The fuck has this got to do with Sup Forumstard shit?
Cheers. Sounds chill.
>we could call such a situation 安全地帯 to be funny. Yeah, it was supposed to be tongue in cheek.
Luke Green
Fuck that is for weather innnit

>500 yen for water Eh, reminds me I went to the grocery store yesterday and they had a 8-pack of really really tiny mochi for 20 reais (around 720 yen).
Fuck that shit.
Juan Hall
Help, please. >わらびは頭がグーになったのを採るんだよ >頭がグーになった What is this グー sound (?) in this context? Or does this mean when the bracken flower head has grown into a fist size shape that it is ready to be picked (for consumption)?
>出る者がいないのは疑いようもありませんが Is this commenting on how the yet to come out of the flower head part of the plant isn't deceptive in appearance to the philosphy of ギリシャ (this is a reference to the place they are in and their knowledge, talking about the old lady and her understanding of plants)?
Jace Hughes
The joke in that image is the drink bar at the カラオケ place they went to had free drinks, so Bocchi decided to get water because she got it in her head that using the free drink bar for anything but water would make the place go bankrupt.
Nathan Reyes
nope. 寒い is almost always used as in "cold". 涼しい is better although 涼しい地帯 sounds weird.
when it comes to a kinda comfort index of the thermal environment, cold(寒い) cool(涼しい) .warm(暖かい、温い) 暑い(暑い) that's about it.
Noah Martinez
>暑い(暑い) hot (暑い)
Hunter Nelson
Eh, and what's with writing one カタカナ word in the middle of your sentence?
I couldn't read that properly so I just try to leave some hints. >出る者は(が)いない this means he/she is so outstanding that nobody is equal to him/her in ability etc >....は疑いようもない there's no doubt about ....
Ryan Sanders
>右に出る者は(が)いない fixed
Brayden Flores
Cheers, user. >I couldn't read that properly The English in my post? Well, either way your post was helpful.
Chase Cox
