John when they were with The Beatles. I can't name a single solo song of his I enjoy though, while there are plenty of solo Paul songs I like.
I prefer Paul but Lennon had some great tracks. In too many of his songs he tried (and failed) to be a rockstar though, and some of his songs have an underlying feeling of spiteful cynicism that I really hate.
