It was initially a middle class (for soviet standard) car from 1982, then became a dirt cheap poorfag car in mid-90s and outsourced to Ukraine and Egypt.

the one I circled out looks like this FIAT 128 which was a pretty common car in argentina in the late 70's and early 80's, but I haven't actually seen one in the street since the 90's

Not to be mean user, but certain places in Argentina (the bits between Ezeiza Airport and BA) was pretty fucking gloomy. So many derelict/rundown buildings in the middle of nowhere with people living in them.
And even in BA everyone looked mad/angry all the time, it made me feel genuine empathy for your country because I know you guys have been through so much.
I'd definitely go back again though, it was one of the best trips I've ever made.

Look for cars in Cuba. They still drive american Cadillacs from 50's and they look comfy.
VAZ 2107 was produced until recently because it was cheap, easily reparable and somewhat sturdy for villagers to carry their potatoes to local market for sale.
