I'm curious, how long does everyone usually work on a song? How long does it usually take for you all to make an entire album?

Jolly good mate!
>I'm curious, how long does everyone usually work on a song? How long does it usually take for you all to make an entire album?
Depends, but for me it is around three months of grind and laying.

(Gub is gud, Gub is luv)

Too much... for 20 minutes of music for me took months of work ahahah

That's a relief then. I've spent a few weeks on just one song when my old method for previous albums was a single day of improvising.

>my old method for previous albums was a single day of improvising.
all your old songs were just quick improvs?

My old albums were all made in one or two days, maybe a week.
As for the next Shum album, I've been working on it for months now because I'm a lazy shit and I don't want to force it.

Thank you, much appreciated! I really dig your style too; vegangaze is an interesting way to label it, but I love it. Doomgaze in particular -- stuff like Nadja and Jesu is always really good in my opinion, keep up the great work,

Thank you! We love Jesu and Nadja, though Alcest is our main influence.

I love your guys' sound. I just wished the vocals were mixed higher, but the lo-fi production for the most part complements the music.
This is very nice. You guys listen to Popol Vuh? And don't be too hard on yourself, side B is good too.
I always like me some good blackgaze. Songwriting is great, but try to control the clipping in the mixing.
>>

I can't say much about harsh noise since it is that. But since I like listening to harsh noise, I like what you're doing. Rec
I'm not vegan, but this is great. You guys listen to Les Discrets? You stated that you were influenced by Alcest, so you've probably heard them as well. It's also fitting you guys are French.

Hi,
Our music isn't dedicated to vegan people, it's just that many of the band members and other people like the one that played the cello in our first demo are vegan. Also, our first demo was talking about the famous orca of SeaWorld that killed is trainers.

We like Les Discrets a lot, but have a preference for Alcest. We saw Les Discrets live a few days ago and it was a very nice experience, but they don't have the energy of Alcest imo.

Thank you very much for your feedback! Im glad you liked the song.

Much appreciate your opinion! Have to say I've listened to Popol Vuh but I never was fond of them. Can't say if Eelot did it but I'm sure to recommend it to him. he would much like it.
My only complain to the release you've shared is that it is a bit strange on the mixing and I can't be sure why that is. I like the parts of the piece I've heard so I'll surely listen to this entire thing once I get time.

Here

Listened through Ego death, Feeling the vibes on this one, the drums (even if they are robotic) sound good and not out of place within the song, and very nice strings, orchestra choir melodies that overlay. Would be nice with some vocals and maybe a bit more varied bass.

Loving the spreaded and wavey mix. Makes it sound larger than life and rather relaxing and melon collie like.

I think I talked about you last time. Good shit deffo rec

Sexy guitar tones dude, dig that shit. Also drums sound ace. Recording style weirdly reminds me of stoned Jesus. Also one of my good friends are from Latvia so big up!

I've got just one track on it but i mean it's all cool, got some more stuff on youtube though

So when my EP is finished and I rerecord it to put on Bandcamp, do I email a link to whatever small record company I like and hope they want to promote it? Because I have one more song to record before it's done and ready to rerecord with better equipment and put on my Bandcamp.

New music on the way, fucking come see us live

maybe, oh I don't know, ask that small record company about this in your application or, alternatively, find their terms of applying i.e. what do they require for that application to be proper. jeez, so easy, ain't it?

I haven't done anything professionally before, I just wanted to know if they would just listen to it and tell me if they want to be behind me or not.

Thanks a lot for the melon collie like. Truely appreciated.

>I just wanted to know if they would just listen to it and tell me if they want to be behind me or not.
most likely - yes. or you will be unheard under a shitton of other applications. or they will just piss on you. it can go multiple ways.

just promote yourself

this guy pretty much gets it. But if you already dont have a built in fan base that pays money and watches you live a lot, why in god's name would they want to sign you and promote you? So more than likely they wont listen to what you give them and you'll never hear back from them. I'm sure they get hundreds of submissions by the week

Working on a new album with some experimental hip hop thrown in the mix. RAPPERS HIT ME UP.

learn music theory first before asking for money online

Yeah, do I do that by just posting it everywhere and giving it away to anywhere and everywhere? I don't wanna use promoting places because those aren't real listens. I live near a pretty popular radio station that promotes local stuff, I can definitely give them a copy. Even if it's just burned.

Ad hominem ain't an argument buddy

very interesting rec this!!!

I thought that's what studios are supposed to do, find out what's worth marketing/making popular. Guess that's why I don't sell music.

>Yeah, do I do that by just posting it everywhere and giving it away to anywhere and everywhere?
yes.
>I don't wanna use promoting places because those aren't real listens.
so start by promoting YOURSELF in a way you find suitable
> I live near a pretty popular radio station that promotes local stuff, I can definitely give them a copy.
you are starting to answer your own question

>I thought that's what studios are supposed to do
nope. studios are those things that you go into to record your music. it's with the mixing board and stuff, pretty easy to distinguish.
>find out what's worth marketing/making popular
we're not in the '60 anymore, sorry. that's what music agents and promoters are used for.
if you're small - start small. just gig around, play to some local radio stations, like, really small ones for starters. don't jump on the big horse or you'll get raped. or out of your head.

right, I bet you're making extremely innovative and great music that has an incredibly wide appeal
the funny part is if I ask you to specify which post is yours, you'll bitch out and not link it. Which I don't really understand, shouldn't your music blow us all away? Don't you want that?

Okay. Thanks.
