CASSETTE GENERAL

CASSETTE GENERAL post collections, labels, recent purchases etc.....

I'll post what I keep on shelf. I have a milk crate full of older stuff that I haven't sorted yet as well. 1/3

2/2

I just spent about $40 on an Alice Coltrane Monastic Trio cassette.

smart/stupid?

And 3/3 Nothing overly impressive but I enjoy it

I would say check Discogs but discogs has next to no info on that release at all so...no idea.

>I Drove All Night

That's a hard find unless you got in on the ground floor.

Here are mine minus a few bigger cases.

How does this J-Card look for a cassette release I'm working on?

I've got a spare somewhere if you want it, friend. That and a few other releases, I think.

Yeah, ordered it the day it was announced. And I see you have 2 copies of The Cover Up...any particular reason?

Depends what kind of music you are putting out.

I've got a saved ebay search. They're pretty rare. I feel ok about it.

Also recently picked up on cassette:

Michael Jackson: Thriller
DJ Alina: Maniax
Lenny Williams: Chill
Young Magic: Still Life
Lauryn Hill: Unplugged
Lou Reed: Street Hassle
Diamanda Gals: Malediction and Prayer
Telepath: テレパシー能力者
Sir Richard Bishop: Tangier Sessions
Nina Simone: Baltimore

Hey, as long as you are happy that is what counts

weeaboo power-pop

I got one for a friend of mine who I'm no longer friends with. I'll sell it eventually but I hate selling online, it's incredibly stressful for me and I don't like doing it. Same goes for extra copies of Time Machines (which you can't really see because of glare) and Music for Psychic Drive By from Odd Nosdam.

Hasn't come yet, but I love AC so much what's $40...

Anons, I'm old (40) given my taste what new stuff should I be paying attention to?

Also, what are you listening to cassettes on?

Right now I've got a Sony Sports Walkman I bought on ebay (literally same model I had in high school in '94)

So we established that pocket size is a legitimate advantage over CDs. Was there anything else?

way tougher physically. CDs scratch way easier than you can fuck up a cassette.

Cassettes are truly the patrician's choice.

The cover looks a bit more synthwave than power pop

I dunno tapes can be eaten and stuff. And CD scratches can rather easily be repaired but why the fuck is someone scratching their CDs anyway? I tnink im still just going with pocket size which is for autographs. However a CD certainly has more room for the autographs so maybe its not an actual advantage afterall.

I always prefer that the"EP" be left off. Just personal preference. I would always reference it as Oblivion to my friends never Oblivion EP.

I unironically lived through the late 80s & early 90s.

Tapes way more durable.

CDs maybe worst format of all time.

and how the fuck do you repair CD scratches?

toothpaste you cuck

whatttttttttt?

That's news to me, and I spent 15 years buying CDs when they where the dominant format.

CD buffer which is available for use at most video game stores, porn shops and record stores. Pawn shops and even jewelry stores can use their industrial buffers if they know what they're doing. Home kits are sold as well but I've always just paid to have it done.

I'm that old too and I strongly disagree. If you respected your CDs then everything was fine. A tape could still be eaten though no matter what.

yeah you goon

you rub it with toothpaste and it polishes it out

Thanks for the response. Want a copy when it comes out? Leave an email or something and I'll throw you on the list.

have to agree to disagrre

tapes > CDs all day

This sounds like some shit we did with Nintendo games in '86 (peroxide and blow on it). Never heard of anyone doing that back in the day.

bumpity

yeah sure; [email protected]

Thanks!
