asunder > lift yr = yanqui uxo > f# > slow riot >>>>>>> allelujah
Wrong faggot
terrible
...
F#A# > Slow Riot > Allelujah > LYSF > Yanqui > Asunder
upvote me
allelujah = LYSF > Asunder > Yanqui UXO > f#a# > slow riot
>allelujah ranked first
Disgusting. Everything else is reasonable
>inb4 some faggot puts yanqui on top
It's a great album but some of the songs are horrendously mastered, almost sounds like the vocals are done on a laptop mic or something.
Always and forever. I bought a pair of shitty $5 earbuds from walmart that are used exclusively for listening to this album.
Yanqui (5 good songs) > Asunder (4 good songs) > F# (3 good songs) = LYSF (3 good songs) > Slow Riot (2 good songs) > Allelujah (1 good song)
who cares about the sound production and mastering you plebs
All of them. Maybe it's because he's trying to balance more artsy shit with radio pop sensibilities, but the audio engineering on his records is always terrible. A pity since it really fucks with a lot of his ideas.
It's sounds pretty bad compared to every album after this one. It lacked the fullness every album after this had especially in the lower ranges like the bass
This
More like albums ruined by shitty music.
agree on this but im not sure where id put asunder yet
...
f#a# > lft yr sknny fsts > yanqui oxo > all lights fucked > allelujah > asunder > slow riot
objectively the best order, come at me
asunder = yanqui > slow riot > lift > f# > all lights > allelujah
Soundtracks for the Blind > Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
...
...
Obligatory
This is just ridiculous
>lists all lights
>never actually listened to it
faggets
it's alright but the tracks are needlessly long and way too much guitar/effect layering
Steve Albini destroyed what should have been an interesting album with his psychotic feedback-strangulated "production" techniques.
everything about that album sucks shit
The sound production is amazing on this one, is this a bait?
If you are talking about stuff like "I can't hear Hurt's lyrics!" then you don't know what you are talking about
Graduation has great sound quality, also MBDTF except Gorgeus
Literally anything produced by Trent Reznor
In a broad meaning of producing(not just audio engineering) -
this and virtually every other Of Montreal album
don't get me wrong, Kevin surely has a lot of great ideas and I really like his songwriting but I'd like to give him a mentor that would throw away half of the songs and focus on polishing the rest
>slow riot last
All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling >>>> everything
listen to this and then tell me the horrible production doesn't make it a frustrating experience
dubs of truth
God is dead and noone cares
if there is a hell
I'll see you there
thats the whole point
this
...
why post this and not st. anger
>ugh the mastering is so bad, it's unlistenable!
Hate these pussies. Just turn it down. Nothing is unlistenable unless it's just extreme frequency tones
apparently Death Magnet is considered "the loudest album ever released"
St Anger was ruined by fucking awful guitar distortion, lyrics, and that trash can snare. Death Magnetic is solid all around, but it is way too compressed for its own good.
Definitely.
this.
absolutely disgusting
it's more the lost potential
bad mixing and layering can totally ruin tracks
this
their best release
>only I say how art should be!
Nah.
so if it's not intended to be shitly mixed? you think mixing and mastering are not important? do you make music? obvious that you don't
didn't imply that, listen to and enjoy whatever you want
music production is a highly technical skill in itself though, the legendary names didn't earn their respect by just pushing record
>so if it's not intended to be shitly mixed?
How would you know if it's not intended to be mixes shitily?
>do you make music? obvious that you don't
I have for longer than you've been alive
>the legendary names didn't earn their respect by just pushing record
Then why would you second guess the care they put in their craft?
it's not shitty, it's textural
>mp3-sourced
>textural
are you for real
I get what you mean on burn the witch, and it varies with the other tracks, but that album has generally good production
...
SY's Evol
Not him, but the production is excellent while the mastering is awful.
>How would you know if it's not intended to be mixes shitily?
it shows
How do you know it's not just your own personal inexperience and lack of understanding how the album was made?
listen to it louder
it's easy to find out.
Like what?
The original mix is so bad that it made the musicians playing on the album sound like they could barely play their instruments. Once I listened to the remaster, I began appreciating this album.
do you seriously not know the context of why this album's production is so lo-fi
excuses
>I listened to the remaster
That is the original mix. Are you retarded?
ok
know the artist, know what he's known fo... etc, take in account everything you need, put information together and then see if it makes sense that the album would be on purpose made to sound like shit. or if you can attribute it to inexperience, low-budget, etc etc
Any real life examples? I feel like you don't actually do this.
why do remasters exist? obviously you wouldn't need to do ALL of 'this', everytime. can't think of anything though (there's stuff in this very thread)
>why do remasters exist?
Well all of The Beatles remasters are improvements over the originals. So right there you've been proven wrong
Try again?
please quickly run down the list of rules for this game
You mean like the rules you've been mentioning here and and ?
no, i don't see anything there that conflicts with
Non sequitur
okay i see haha well memed friend! you sure got me there!
dub dubs of dub truth
????
I see where you're coming from, but definitely not ruined.
yeah maybe
that album didn't even cost $1000 to make. came out pretty decent for what it is.
??

They are the same mixes.
Fuck you Sonic Boom
>ruined
I don't know man, its noisiness was the reason I liked this album so much.
Or anything Rick Rubin touched
Not like Metallica is anything to care about though
Wow go fuck yourself man
>Or anything Rick Rubin touched
He's produced some great sounding albums user
>License to Ill
>Paul's Boutique
>Blood Sugar Sex Magik
LCD Soundsystem's This Is Happening sounds great and its produced by Rick Rubin
Well, the thing is the original master files (wav) got lost in a HDD crash, only mp3 files remained.
Why didn't they back up their files on several formats? Why didn't they just rerecord it?
>why didn't they just rerecord it
Just so it will sound slightly better?
Nah, when you've already put shitton of work into an album you don't do that
>Just so it will sound slightly better?
Loss of a lot of the frequency spectrum is only slightly?
Sounds like you've never mastered an album before
um excuse me this album benefited massively from the slavshit production
