^This. Guitars are so 1971.

Yes the Americans sound a bit better, but it can mostly be attributed to the cheaper pickups. If you buy a Mexican standard and put CS69s or any other Custom Shop pickups in it you'll probably have a better sound than an American standard and save a little bit of money.

OP here, do you think a 600$ standard strat would be a good upgrade to a 200$ epiphone sg?

As dumb as the "guitar is dead" reddit meme is, if it encourages fewer people to play guitar I'm all for it, it's way too popular

Not the guy.

Anything is an upgrade from an Epiphone, but yea, Mexi Strat is not a bad way to go. Ive got 2 they work great.

my epiphone lp is probably my favorite guitar.

Honestly save a bit more and buy a gibson sg. it's a guitar for life kinda thing.

Fuck off, do not buy a Gibson OP. That shit is literally expensive for no reason other than it sells better as it gets more expensive.

Buy an expensive asian knockoff like a Tokai and you'll get a better guitar for the money.

Hey man my Epiphone ES335 is probably my favourite guitar, but I still fucking hate it for having shit electrics and havinging the worlds shitest tuning stability. The electrics have crapped out like 4 times. nothing a bit of duct tape and glue won't un fuck.

Aaha and a Strat isn't?? that shit will do a fuck ton of stuff and last you just as long...and won't crack its headstock.

US SG is cheaper than a US Strat

I meant any strat US, MiM or MiJ, any will do more than an SG and sound better. Not saying it isn't a good guitar, but a strat is better.

>Blues lawyers

Yeah, and my opinion is that you shouldn't buy a US strat. The mexican ones do the job just fine.

>Gibson
>won't crack its headstock
nigga Gibson LPs are notorious for having ridicilously weak headstocks that snap off all the time

I don't know how old your axe is but the newer guitars are pretty good usually. I usually change the pickups and suddenly it's a 1500 guitar

thats what I said...

Four or five years old maybe, just every Epiphone ive ever owned has had below average electircs. and ive had a Yamaha Pacifica for 10+ years and its still going fine.

YES THEY USE DIFFERENT WOOD WHICH AFFECTS THE SOUND

ffs meant for him

they have different pickups and the mexican body is usually cut for hsh setups whether you have humbuckers in there or not. that being said the mexicans are way better bang for the buck. i think the upgrade is only worth it if you're an actual musician and you dont give a fuck you're paying a lot more for something barely better. it's probably a bit of placebo aswell, i mean if you're a serious musician you'd probably just drop the money instead of always having the thought in the back of your mind that your sound could maybe be better and that maybe your ears weren't right the day you compared the two and didn't hear a difference. i mean still there is a difference but its super small and you could just get better pickups for the mexican too. even the american pickups are not the end all be all so you could probably get better tone out of the mexican if you put really good pickups in them.

pic rel is my beautiful strat

if you never plug it in then yeah.

i had one of those and they are completely shit

every guitar is shit. the more you pay the bigger the retard you are. 50 dollar guitars sound just fine
