20, I've been listening to "emo" since I was about 10, but it was more poppy shit like taking back sunday, pre-black parade my chemical romance, hawthorne heights, etc. Only recently have I gotten into stuff like Algernon, Jank, Owen, Snowing, Tigers Jaw, and others.

My opinion is that there simply isn't enough material meriting discussion.
Huge swathes of emo, particularly the revival bands, are just carbon copy rip offs of bands that have come before, and mediocre copies at that. Therefore the discussion in these threads normally revolved around the same dozen or so classics, and occasionally some of the better revival bands like empire empire, hotelier etc.
