Wait have you been the Herbie user this entire time? Fuck you

BUUUUURRRUURRRRNAWAAAYAAAATCH

>Fuck you
Sounds about right.

WENOOOOOOOOOOOOA
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE YOULIIIIIIIIIIIIIIV

BURN THE WITCH!
BURN THE WITCH!

what an awful, awful album from a dead, dead band

cool, what kind of music do you like user?

it's a solid 7/10

>inb4 that's irrelevant and you're going to mock whatever I say

>daydreamer comes on
>Actually played this a lot recently due to some bad shit happening

....Fuck....

hey herbieanon, i guarantee if you give HTTT another listen you'll raise the score
it gets better with each listen

wait do real people still listen to this 4/10 album from 2016? this is weird

Maybe I just rated it so low because I was so bitter when I listened to it.

I'll definitely be giving it A re listens some time.

So wtf what's your favorite? The Bends/In Rainbows or Kid A??

The Bends/In Rainbows are tied.
Kid A is third.

>but it was just a laugh, just a laugh
>just a laugh, just a laugh

What didn't you like about TKoL?

>there's spacecraft blocking out the sky
>and there's nowhere to hide
one of the best songs

>when you've had enough of me
>sweet darling
>sweet times
>sweet times

Decker's Dark is fucking beautiful, I'm guessing a lot of the rest of the album is gonna be piano-focused.

I have no way to word it without sounding stupid and I'll get at least 10 replies mocking how I say it.

Simplest way to put it: Didn't like 3 of the 8 tracks, thought the beats sucked, first track confused the shit out of me.

Are you up to Ful Stop yet?

People aren't memeing when they say king of limbs sounds really good live.

Check out the basement version someday.

Is 'Spacey' a good way to describe this album? Because that's the vibe I'm getting from it..
Just Lush, spacey, and beautiful....

About to start it.

I don't usually listen to live albums but I will if I can find this one.

You gotta watch the Live from the Basement version. TKOL gave me a similar reaction until I saw that. It's fucking perfect.

>truth will mess you up
>truth will mess you up
>truth will mess you up
>truth will mess you up

>about to start Ful Stop

I remember when I was listening to the album right when it came out and was confused why it started so calm after listening to the live version from 2012.

Then I got to 3:11
>mfw

>the panic is coming on strong

Ful Stop was alright.
Feel like it might have been better a track or two earlier because it came after 2 really fucking sad tracks... .

I liked it too.

>Literally the second Glass Eyes starts.
>'I feel this love to the core...'
...I might cry...

Just know that Thom left his wife of 23 years after finding out she had cancer to make this. She died last December and he laughed about it.

Dude try this

PH - 7.5/10
The Bends 8/10
OKC 9.3/10
Kid A 9.5/10
Amnesiac 8.5/10
HTTT 9/10 (most criminally underrated album)
In Rainbows 9.3/10
KoL 8/10
AMSP 8.5/10

Best song - Motion Picture Soundtrack or The National Anthem

>when I see you messing me around
>I don’t want to know, I don’t want to know, I don’t want to know

>and he laughed about it
[citation needed]

The Bends is a little low...
Your picture is accurate.
I'd REALLY have to think hard about what my favorite song of theirs is.

Listen to the live version from this tour of Ful Stop after you finish the album, it has a lot more energy than the album version after the drop

Ok, so far in the album (I'm up to Numbers) I'm enjoying a lot of the more Piano/strings focused tracks right now.

My favorite was Glass Eyes.
This album is as sad as everyone says it is.

wtf I hate thom now

That melody is insanely catchy

Ohhh, here comes Identikit.

Identikit is hands down my favorite track off AMSP

>The strings at the end of Numbers
WHY THE FUCK IS THIS JUST GETTING SADDER?

Also holy shit Thom is a great Piano player.

>Also holy shit Thom is a great Piano player.
I mean, regarding pop music, then yes. He's not technically great, but he is a great composer.

>this dance
>is like a weapon
>of self-defense
>against the present
>the present tense
>no I won't get heavy
>don't get heavy
>keep it light and
>keep it moving
>I am doing
>no harm
>as my world
>comes crashing down
>I'll be dancing
>freaking out
>deaf, dumb, and blind

I feel so sorry for people in this thread who are taking this album seriously. pretty depressing

Funnily enough he's said himself that he only sounds like a complex piano player because he was never taught how to play piano and just kinda taught himself so by sounding imperfect he ended up sounding good.

>In you I'm lost
>In you I'm lost
>In you I'm lost
>In you I'm lost

>this dance
I always thought it was "distance" and thought it was a clever lyric but knowing what it actually is is kinda disappointing
I also made a few months an alternate tracklist after the album came out but didn't really listen to it enough to decide if I liked it better than the alphabetical one
>pic related

The fact that all of them have string outros just makes me love them more.
Tinker I hated at first but it slowly just got better and better.

>just kinda taught himself so by sounding imperfect he ended up sounding good.
That. Sounds. Badass.

forgot pic reeEE

>I'm not living
>I'm just killing time

I think I intentionally had the songs get gradually more stripped back and depressing as a way of showing everything falling apart but I made it so long ago that I'm not sure. Might have just liked the way it sounded desu

>Just don't leave...
>Don't leave....

Fuck me this song gets me every time.

>just don't leave
>don't leave...

The bonus track they released for AMSP called Ill Wind is pretty good too.
Kind of wish it would have made its way into the normal track listing.

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE
THEN NO HARM WILL COME
NO ILL WIND
WILL BLOW

Would you say It's like club beats? It sounded like that to me

pretty dope listing. i might listen to it this way tonight

Oh yeah the clubbiest beats there are.

Spectre also fits in really well between Present Tense and Tinker Tailor, which is coincidentally where it'd have been if they put it on the album since it's alphabetical

The live version of Ful Stop they used to play is better than the album version to me though. Like, I love the album version but those old live ones had a way more pronounced up-octave guitar playing at the same time as the main one, and when it came in at full volume it was so fucking energising.

that's cool, i loved that track- i remember pausing christmas with my family to go listen to it in my room back home haha
i also remember lying on a blanket on the floor in the middle of summer with my huge windows open all the way, sweating buckets and listening to amsp minutes after it came out
why are radiohead such a nostalgic band, even for their recent releases
sorry for the blogpost, i don't even really know what i'm trying to communicate here

Maybe the lyrics are " I feel this love turn cold" that's how I always heard, or maybe both alternating?

Let me explain you, this dance means capoeira, a brazilian dance/fight learned by slaves to defend themselves (hence a weapon of self-defense) at colonial time and a cultural landmark of the country till date, every kid learns it here. It makes even more sense because the song itself is heavily influenced by brazilian rhythms. So the actual lyrics are actually brilliant, much more clever than fucking >distance

Typo.

>distance
sounds retarded
this dance fits perfectly

Distance is like a weapon fits the breakup theme much better than "this dance". Not who you were replying to, btw

From favorite to least favorite.

Kid A
Hail to the Thief
In Rainbows
OK Computer
Amnesiac
A Moon Shaped Pool
The King of Limbs
The Bends
Pablo Honey

Oh. Right. Fuck. Gotta rank em. Hang on.

Mine goes like:

Amnesiac // Kid A
OKC // In Rainbows // AMSP // HTTT
TKOL (basement would be here ^)
The Bends

"distance is a weapon of self defense against the present tense"
meaning he's pushing himself away from the way things are in his relationship. that makes way more sense than him dancing away, or it being a Brazilian analogy or whatever like the other guy said

Didn't know about this, sounds straight from the Basement - great sounds and groove.

Still, I'm 100% sure of what I'm saying, he is talking about capoeira, you can check it out

yea but "dance" is not like literally dancing
is a movement, like life n shit
and literally dancing sounds cool too
distance soungs like "muh pottery"
i'm drunk anyway so i'm sorry

In Rainbows=The Bends > Kid A (Slightly)>Ok Computer > Amnesiac > Hail to the Theif > The King of Limbs > Pablo Honey

>HTTT that low
maximum pleb

what about AMSP

My bad, didn't type it but it's on the chart.

It's between OK and Amnesiac.

HTTT > TKoL but that's as high as it should go imo
I don't like how HTTT self indulges in Aphex Twin-like tracks and then right into guitar tracks (The Gloaming --> There There, Backdrifts --> Go To Sleep)

That being said the open songs are absolutely powerful + Where I End And You Begin, Myxomatosis, and A Wolf At The Door are great tracks. Myxomatosis has to be one of their best tracks.

Cut like 4 songs out and it'll immediately be a contender for me.

>that chord change
gets me every time ;_;

m-me too thanks thom

>that pic
lmfao
Amnesiac is qt tho
>capoeira
OK KID

what do you mean ok kid? Do you think I'm wrong? Cause I'm not, I'm not just making it up

WTF I love HTTT now

>i'm drunk anyway so i'm sorry
Well, that explains it user, here you go: youtube.com/watch?v=FG1NrQYXjLU

can you post a source and/or expand on your reasoning? I'm genuinely curious

genius.com/Radiohead-present-tense-lyrics

See all notes. Samba influence, Bossa nova influence, all brazilian styles. And capoeira is literally the only dance that's also a weapon of self-defense, do you know any other? Dude, I thought it was like, so obvious, I thought everyone already knew that, as a brazilian it's pretty easy to see. Now I'm legit really dissapointed you guys did not know that, everyone is really missing this out? Spread it, people need to know. That's the only way the lyrics make sense anyway

IDK man, I interpret "this dance" as a metaphor, even if he's literally dancing, it's for a purpose i.e. losing himself in the movement, as a defense against heartbreak or loneliness or whatever

Even considering the musical influences, I can't see Thom thinking about capoeira when writing this

But who knows, maybe he was and you're right. It's a valid interpretation.

dude, I'm not saying he means "hehe I'm dancing here dur" I'm just saying it's a reference, even as a metaphor
