Depends, does she actually want one and if so has she had experience with taking care of a pet before? How old is she? Is she allowed to have one where she's living, did she plan on going away from a long period of time in the next couple of months and if so does she have someone to look after it?

I live with my gf and have raised a dog before. He still lives with my parents. We're both in decent paying jobs. Not living check to check and have experience working with animals. I just never dealt with this particular breed before. Specially with all the shit you hear from people about pits, even in wary.

think about that. this dog will outlast your relationship with this chick. if she is 20 now, this dog will be a part of her life until she's in her late 30s.

You need to know what you are getting into when you get a pitbull. They have four times the amount of jaw force as your average dog. This makes them a dangerous animal and you need to treat it like one. You need to train that dog very, very well. Imagine a 9 foot tall human. They could be the nicest guy in the world but they have the potential to cause SERIOUS fucking damage.

Train it and when you're out and about keep it on a leash in case some little shit comes over and tries to pat it and the parents freaks the fuck out.

I've met plenty of lovely gentle pit bulls, it's all about how they're raised.

Don't give a dog to your gf. At some point she will fuck it all up and leave taking the dog with her. You don't need the heartbreak of losing a dog like that.

Try to not raise it with punching or so, you might bring up his agressions, ones he is old enough to kill you. The other important thing is, to not allow dominance around you. Means he can't jump on a couch, he has to come when you call him and definetly walk by you preoperly on a leash. Don't let him dominate other dogs, even when they play fight. Make sure he sees you and your bitch as confident leaders. Than you will have a good pit. There is still 1% chance of him going nuts cause of somthing that triggers him. But you should be fine if you keep the focus on not allowing him dominance.
