Is Germany gonna become the new global hegemon now that America is slipping and Russia is in decline?

Is Germany gonna become the new global hegemon now that America is slipping and Russia is in decline?

No, China will

Germany can't afford to be the new global hegemon.

Their military's an underfunded mess run by a woman.

Nothing money can't fix.
We are seriously discussing getting nukes and a foreign legion right now. But if anything, we will use it to protect the rest of the EU to deepen integration and create a federation. Then we can talk about European hegemony.

The call for nuclear came from all kinds of the political spectrum. Even the social democrats and several left-leaning news outlets discussed it seriously.

If you do the foreign legion thing will there be a mountain detachment?

Because I'd love to get paid to climb the Alps, even if I had to drag an artillery piece up with me.

Probably. As far as I know, the wanted to use them for Jaeger units. Which means light infantry, mountain troops ant paratroopers.

If Russia is in decline, why worry? Maybe, real worry is West's decline and that we manage things better?

nah, china is the only country on earth that can match the US when it comes to economy and military

i do hope more european countries will get nukes though, they're the only things that keep the eastern menace aka r*ssians in check

Opening the armed forces for EU citizens will be more likely, though. That way it could become the core of an EU army.

Gaaaay

are you seriously asking this

once the Gottkanzler takes over

It takes a lot of time and money to fix a military
You would need to abandon the puma if you wanted to have a decent IFV that the military can afford along with the fact that the leopards are horrendously outdated and due to be replaced in 2020 Germany also has no airforce and navy
The idea of bolstering a military that specialises in "expensive toys" is a joke

Putting the French force frappe under EU command in return for funding would be the best way. With additional EU funding, we can easily field a proper strategic component.

No.

no

you don't even need to do that, france and eu are so deeply bound that you basicaly all have nukes for free.

>military
Nah.
>This is what Vladimirs tell themselves to sleep at night after their daily potato ration

Im sure the German military will sweep up the mess made by the Americans

The Puma is a decent IFV, we just need more of them.
The leopard just needs an upgrade on the active protection part. The main components are still enough. Upgrading all Leopard 2 to a decent standard and then add a Leopard 3 to increase the numbers is the current approach.

Having small numbers of expensive, home built equipment is our way of preserving the necessary knowledge in our arms industry. Fielding huge numbers of old equipment doesn't suit our strategic needs.

73% suicidal people. fuck.

I know, the French offered to defend all EU members when necessary. But without British and American nukes, your forces just might be too small. And just asking you to defend everybody would be stupid.

That number is changing so fast right now as the left realizes that nobody except themselves will defend liberal values.

YOU THINK OUR COUNTRY'S SO INNOCENT

HELLO LEUDENAND MAGMUD DIS IZ MISDER ERDOGAN YOU ARE MOVING TO ANKARA TOMMORW EBIN
>Tommorow
LEUDENAND MAGMUD YOU PARTICIPATED IN NON FAKE COUB SO WE'RE GONNA GILL YOU EBIN KAKOESPISTEDDEDEDE

>And just asking you to defend everybody would be stupid.

Isn't it already the case right now though?

No

Same with the Finns. Turkic warrior gene confirmed.

>German government
>spending money
I'M A BITTER CUNT IN A WHEELCHAIR AND THE BLACK ZERO IS HOLY

He knows too well what German interests are. If necessary, there will be money available. A lot.

Getting rid of our debt right now is a good idea since we don't have the increasing population anymore.

ok france got nukes

germany got administration and industry

latvia has minestompers

sweden has overpriced ifvs and saab fighters

funland has artillery and the will to fight

What the fuck does luxemburg bring to the table?

First step is to reduce the amount of overlaps accross nations' defence industries. This frees assets to be diverted elsewhere.

Second we need a dedicated European military surveillance and intelligence gathering satellite(s). I believe this is already in the works.

No country on earth would ever go on a conventional war against Europe at the moment. This is why nukes are so good, you just need a few of them to be a big guy. I do not see why Germany should invest more money on its army.
I also strongly believe that EU will never have an army of its own.
You can come in our legion if you want to, their para troops are based in corsica, which is like the Alps in the middle of the sea.

How do nukes help defend against non state actors? That's a highly simplistic way of viewing geo politics.

Getting rid of our debt now is stupid because you can take out loans with extremely low interest rates right now and do major investments that'll easily pay for themselves.

>non state actors
this is what i call non conventional war. Also non state actors will never invade a country in europe. Thinking like that you just need a strong conscription then.

yep.

lel

Germany, France and Italy share their satellites. Germany has radar, France optical and Italy thermal if I remember correctly.

You don't know how our debt works. We are using the low interest rates by restructuring our current debt. And money for investments with a return rate of greater than 1 are already done. The money available for these projects is just not used completely since planning is too slow. Just spending money on welfare and making everything look pretty is not a good investment, though.

>non state actors will never invade a country in europe
Where were you during the Ukraine crisis? using non-state actors against countries is now a common tactic since it works so well.

Merkel is done, the left-wing coalition is gonna force her out in a couple months

Germany currently doesn't have the will to create an army that could enforce itself globally.

This is getting VERY speculative, but if more countries break off from the EU in the next couple decades and the remaining countries are solidified beneath it, a German-led EU could try to do something like that. Or even a Germany bolstered by its status within a smaller but centralised EU.

What if all of a sudden, without ANY external interference, there are accusation that the Russian minority is being persecuted in the baltic states. Suddenly a separatist movement rises with this minority (of course with ABSOLUTELY no help from the outside) and they aim to secede from, say, Estonia and join Russia. All of a sudden this separatist political movement is now armed, and with leadership from pro-Kremlin military officials. Estonia refuse to secede any territory, or even allow greater autonomy to certain provinces, and accuses Russia of violating international sovereignty and interfering in internal affairs of Estonia. Russia retorts by claiming that Estonia is persecuting the Russian minority, and that they will do "whatever it takes" to ensure that the Russian nationals are free from harm. Suddenly, unidentified troops appear in Estonia. All sound familiar?

Now I'm not saying this to fearmonger, but I'm demonstrating how nukes in this instance would have absolutely no relevance to the crisis, despite it being a direct confrontation of a nation within NATO and the EU.

China is a shithole with a per capita GDP under $10,000.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. Germans aren't to be trusted with weapons.

Germany is, as it always was, too big for Europe and too small for the world.

You got a point here.
However i do not see how any state could succesfully end this kind of war. The russian minority in ukraine was barely a minority since USSR deported ukrainian for decades and colonized a large part of the country with russians.

Whatever happens, Russia can't take direct contact with Nato troops or else we'll all drown in the ensuing global shit storm.

This. WHO knows what will happen when these pacifists will decide to purify the world again.

Luxumberg has a cute military history of friendship

>What the fuck does luxemburg bring to the table?
Lusitani gorilla fighters, the plight of Romans.

>If Russia is in decline, why worry? Maybe, real worry is West's decline and that we manage things better?
