its complicated. Alphas daughter gets captured by rick and co. Alpha wants to trade her daughter for some other people that they have.
Alpha then warns rick and co.to never cross the border again

Carl gets a crush on Lydia after spending time in jail with her. Lydia doesn't want to go back because the men constatly rape her, because the whisperes have this animal kingdom mentality (take what you want). So carl follows her to try to gether back, but he gets captured so rick has to go and get him with some people from the hilltop. He gets caught too.

Lydia tells her mom she doesn't like being raped everyday, so her mom banishes her because she is weak. Alpha then tells them to never cross the border again, and she says that they will know what the border when they return.

When they come back, they see like 20+ peoples heads on wooden poles, and they were people from the kingdom hilltop, aand alexandria, so everyone calls for war.

The whole show is about how regular humans would act and how would they grow/evolve in a postapocalytpic situation. It's a study on human behaviour. The zombie outbreak is just the setting and the excuse. It's not about survival.

The issue with TWD is its location. They are in the woods pretty much and in the comics it shows machone going on a fishing trip making a comment saying, WoW ever since humans have been gone the ocean life has been floruishing. The first couple seasons made it seem like no animal survived either well only a very few of them did. Then you read the comic and your like ohhhhh theres the story

If you can do that, and prove that people still banded together, then you can assume that something like this wouldn't happen to humans and THEN call the show and the witters stupid. But you can't, so you really can't bring "history" into the argument.
