ITT: we discuss drywall anchors
They work
Sup Forums
None of those plugs are suitable for drywall....
I liek the yellow ones
the ones with the "plastic springs" in them are incredibly annoying.
What are those ? dildos for ants ?
Take your shitty plastic and go home.
Drill a hole first. They cannot be pushed into walls
Toggle bolts
/thread
You cant beat a decent metal toggle bolt
...
No nigger. They're what I used to fasten the studs to the frame of my house when I remodeled.
I use drywall anchors exclusively on load bearing areas in the foundation of my house.
metalgrade for solid walls are the best around.
What kinda load are you holding up with your anchors? I hope you didnt hang a rad on them
These things are way tougher than you would suspect, used these to secure scaffolding to the sides of houses.
I've been thinking of using a couple in the living so i can screw in metal hoops and put up the sex swing.
living room..
When I remodeled a section of my house, I used drywall anchors only to build the frame of load bearing walls.
Ok but i still dont understand you
no way bro. I used drywall anchors instead of screws to build a treehouse for my little cousin. They are so useful.
>he calls them 'drywall anchors'
...
The yellow one is
Whats them badboys called
instead of using screws to fasten the wooden boards together, I used drywall anchors.
Are you from /diy/? A few days ago we had a thread about drywall anchors.
Properly installed, these things can support a lot of weight.
Drill a hole in drywall slightly smaller than the anchor.
Gently tap the anchor into the hole with a hammer.
Hand drive the screw almost all the way in.
Remember though that they are designed to suspend weight perpendicular to the anchor, like a picture on a wall. You can't expect to drive them into the ceiling and hang something from them. So no sex swing.
Take a number 4 Philips head, jam through dry wall, pound bit in once with the butt of the handle. Fuck drilling dry wall for those things. Or use metal dry wall anchor if you want the shit to hold.
Ahh so you are fixing two sheets of board face to face, i wouldnt have used drywall anchors but fair enough, sounds good
Grip its I think it was on dragons den or some shit
one of my walls can be pushed slightly lol.
My kind of thread.
These are so you can put a big fucking holet in the drywall instead of screwing into a stud because wives won't let structural integrity dictate the location of pictures and window dressings
Bit crap, overpriced and you need to fire a spade bit in first which will throw plaster dust all over the show
...
>because wives won't let structural integrity dictate the location of pictures and window dressings
yeah your anal wall, faggot
Yeah I've never used them myself I just remembered seeing them.
Thats all you ever need.Well done user.
Theyre a bastard if you need to remove the screw though, fuckers always spin and you need to move them
you don't put drywall anchors in your butt, faggot.
only if you're cool.
The one true master race
>thread about "dry wall anchors"
>Pic shows normal "wall plugs"
Dry wall anchors are
but not OPs pic.
Also, drywalls are shit tier walls.
Steel reinforced concrete > Bricks > Drywall
Especially if you live in countries where earthquakes and tornados are a thing to expect within a timespan of ~20 years.
You have to press really hard when you extract so the friction between the anchor and the wall is more than the friction between the anchor and the screw. Not 100% effective but still my favorite anchor.
I remember one time I made a hole too big for the anchor (a bit of wall came out as I drilled). Took a piece of wood, cut it slightly larger than the hole, then hammered it in.
Screw went in fine, and the fit was tighter than the Virgin Mary's cunt
...
what's so hard to understand about it?
they're like the kinkiest buttplugs for midgets
these are best
my only other alternative.
You said the frame of a load bearing wall, surely load bearing walls are solid ie brick/ block, wheres the need for drywall fixings?
ITT: don't put these in your dick hole.
All shit.
Build house out of bricks and mortar, drill km to wall, use standard rawl plugs or... build out of breezeblocks (inner skim anyway) jse the expanding ones that are safe for breezeblocks.
#europeaned
i didn't say it. i came into the thread late and been lurking.
besides, it ain't difficult to understand.
But Of Course!
You niggers need to learn about molly bolts
More a command strip kinda guy myself.
Woman
Metal drywall anchors are superior when applicable. GTFO with these shitty fucking plastic babbys-first-drywall-anchor.
checked
seewe already know about them
Thanks babe
this is the only dry wall anchor worth a fuck
>dorm lyfe
these can only get you so far, and they have a potential to rip bits off your wall.
bottom middle is for concrete with use for #8 screws by the looks of it
#triggeredelectrician
quads too sexy to pass up
Superior my friend!
>guitar wall hangers
>guitars will only fall when someone knocks down that wall
Planning on hanging myself from one of those things, great invention!
hhhhnnnng these are great
Normally, for installing network racks, I use the toggle bolts.
Walldogs. A fine choice.
I use the about as much though.
Never a fan of the plastic anchors.
I always use these, they work great!
>can't believe someone else didn't do this already
MODS!!!!!!!!
Thats not ideal to stick up your dick hole.
what's the name of that cute pie
not horrible for quick low stress things but if you want hold you use a zip toggle, god tier fastener
I don't use them, they're a waste of time.
Pros: when installed properly, they can hold aprx. 1lb
Cons: even when installed properly they leave a disgustingly large hole in the wall, ruining any chance of getting one's deposit back (if applicable); they can barely hold any weight (it's fucking SHEETROCK for christsakes)
If I ever hang anything less than 5lbs, I'll use those sticky-strips and hook things, they're fucking fantastic. Anything over 5lbs and I'll screw it into a fucking STUD. Oh, there's no stud where you want X to hang? THEN EITHER SCREW IT INTO THE CLOSEST STUD AND DEAL, OR JUST TEAR OUT SOME DRYWALL AND PUT IN A 2x4 BRACE. JESUS FUCK ARE YOU ALL TODDLERS INCAPABLE OF THE SIMPLEST OF HOME REPAIR TASKS?
Why do you have to hand drive? What does a power drill do?
O
I use these. Very easy and holds a lot of weight. Pretty bulky, really, and chews a sizable hole though so very much overkill for small items.
Oh man tell that to the anchor holding my closet shelf up.
> Be me, moving into new apartment.
> Go on a moving in tour and notice the Bedroom closet shelf was a little off.
> Notice, specifically that on one side, the screw going into the wall wasn't in a stud or anything and had just been pushing away at the drywall.
> Show future landlord and tell her I can fix it if she makes sure to take note of how it is now and how it looks after I fix it.
> She does
> Move stuff into new apartment, but keep closet empty
> Go get some dry wall patch and anchors
> Take whole shelf out and lower about an inch.
> Patch holes
> Install anchors for sturdiness
> Rehang shelf.
> Call landlord
> She looks and approves of the job
> Compliments my work
> Jokingly says she may have to higher me as a maintenance guy
> Hang all my stuff in my closet
> months go by
> shelf still looks fine
I put one of these down my penis hole once and I couldn't get it out.
Had to go to hospital.
Sorry, but you're still a fucking idiot. Someone in the future is gonna think it's sturdy and put something heavy on it, and then the whole wall is going to tear off the studs. I've had to fix this shit before and the entire time in thinking to myself "god, I wish idiots didn't even try..."
mein neger
Last time I used one the anchor wouldn't fit, so I jammed it in with toothpicks and superglue.
Here's my favorite.
Legit thought that was a fleshlight in a wall
Dude it's loaded down right now. has been for months. It's sturdy. Besides what would you have me do? Moving to where a stud is at was not an option. And while I appreciate your brace idea, cutting out drywall to install one was not an option either. Listen, guy, I don't deny your options you detailed above would have been more permanent, but this works and is continuing to work is my point.
I do the same with matchsticks and lard.
That wont hold much
well, well, well, what a coincidence
kek nice
>a truly "random thread"
What a diamond dozen
thats a dildo you fucking sped
All you Amerifats and your shitty, stripped Phillips screwheads. Robertson master race.
RAWLPLUGS!
I wasn't even that user. Still, the idea of using these anchors for a closet shelf is something I'd expect from a dumb woman. If there was no other way to do it, it shouldn't have been done.
makes tiny hole easily repaired....
Alright dude. I have a shelf in my closet that is sturdy enough. It's taken note of so that whether it's fine or does break down, it won't come out of my deposit later. But you're right, I should have just thrown all my clothes into a big pile in the floor instead. That would have been the thing to do, I guess. Sure learned my lesson, man.
I use the blues for wall plates.
That is NOT what I thought it was before I expanded that image
